The abandonment thing is a myth; you just stole babies.

They took out the nest, you think shes going to build a new one and carry all 3 of them over before they die?
#20 to #9 - anon (08/16/2013) [-]
There's only one way of getting to the bottom of this... "myth".

One word, Mythbusters.

am i the only one who thought it was a dead cat?
User avatar #26 - Yardie ONLINE (08/16/2013) [-]
The abandonment thing is a myth. First of all bird have a terrible sense of smell and wouldn't be able to "sense" human contact with their babies, and second, that would be horrible for procreation and its highly unlikely that a species would evolve into a detrimental trait like that.

Fun fact: The whole thing about mothers abandoning their young/eggs because of human contact is actually a myth.
#59 - timmity ONLINE (08/16/2013) [-]

That's a very common misconception. Look it up, it has been disproven long ago.

No need to be upset. Check this out, it's a pretty good read.

Oh, right, I guess I misread that. Sorry.

Mother birds don't abandon eggs/chicks because people touched them.
You just stole her children.
#30 to #25 - anon (08/16/2013) [-]
people think they do that? I've never heard something so stupid.
User avatar #35 to #25 - fuzzum (08/16/2013) [-]
Ok, are you really telling me that my whole life has been a lie? I was always told if you disturb a birds nest when there are eggs in it, the mother bird will always abandon the nest.

The reasons can vary but the end result I was always told was the same.
#36 to #35 - AnonymousDonor (08/16/2013) [-]
yeah ive heard the same thing about both birds and rabbits - that they catch the scent of human and its foreign and, since evolution has taught them that man is to be feared and left alone, they break its neck in order to protect the rest

never seen it for myself though so i cant attest the veracity..

It does, doesn't it.

Now, let's be real. If I give you this picture of a fat cat wearing a sweater can I have colored text? You're not going to get a much better offer to be honest...
User avatar #62 to #61 - hellspawner (08/16/2013) [-]
You do realize I'm not Darius Negrophallus right..
#63 to #62 - drunkasaurus (08/16/2013) [-]
now I do. I saw red text and dear leader's face and I assumed. How'd you get your colored text?
User avatar #64 to #63 - hellspawner (08/16/2013) [-]
In the item game's first stage, I created textures for Darius Negrophallus and in return he gave me colored text for life.
#55 - zuflux ONLINE (08/16/2013) [-]
Then you'd be happy to know that birds don't care if their chicks/Eggs smell like humans.

IT's just something we've been told to make us stay away from animals. Really.
User avatar #38 - firstresponder (08/16/2013) [-]
unless the maintenance guy is a bird caretaker on the side, i highly suggest that you take the birds to a sanctuary or a rescue. all wild animals are hard to keep alive in captivity, especially when they are newborns. sorry if i come across as a total dick
User avatar #72 - snakefire (08/16/2013) [-]
Its a myth that human scent will make birds abandon the nest.
User avatar #29 - niggernazi (08/16/2013) [-]
you should have cooked the eggs
User avatar #34 - swagloon (08/16/2013) [-]

le it oc of course it will be thumb up
User avatar #40 to #34 - rollertoaster (08/16/2013) [-]
Actually, it's a reference to any of the Elder Scrolls games except Skyrim. As of the White-Gold Concordat, signed before the events of Skyrim, Talos worship is illegal, meaning there are only eight "official" divines. Thus, the line is changed to "by the eight".
User avatar #42 to #40 - swagloon (08/16/2013) [-]
Unless you side with the stormcloaks and not those Nazi elfs.

Understand your point I was aiming at the hype the game has on the internet. You know the whole 10/10 like Skyrim but with guns.
User avatar #43 to #42 - rollertoaster (08/16/2013) [-]
You're right. I usually side with the Empire, though. I didn't work my ass off saving it during the Oblivion Crisis only to kick it out of Skyrim a few hundred years later.
User avatar #50 to #43 - idoliam (08/16/2013) [-]
In my opinion, the Stormcloaks are just as bad as the Thalmor. Their both racist and have the "my **** don't stink" attitude.
User avatar #6 - wormman (08/16/2013) [-]
inb4 Thalmor sluts come around giving you **** about the nine divines.
User avatar #7 to #6 - fuzzum (08/16/2013) [-]
