Psilocybe Cubensis are wildly common in most of the world. They are fairly easy to identify. They 'stain' blue from bruising and oxidation as seen in the photo. They are primarily found in cow pastures, as cows consume the spores and excrete them with their feces. This causes them to grow extremely well while extracting nutrients from the patties. The spores survive in the cow's stomach due to the cow's four-chambered stomach which contains little to no stomach acid.
#159 to #158 - JMF (08/16/2013) [-]
In the U.K., 'Liberty Caps' seem to be the most popular kind of psychedelic mushrooms. I don't know very much about these, as I do not live in the U.K.
Thy are easily identified by their size and by the 'nipple' on the cap.
User avatar #113 to #6 - Zydratejunkie (08/16/2013) [-]
Psilocybin mushrooms are very easy to find in Nova Scotia near Halifax. (Canada)They grow wild there.
Though you can buy them pretty much anywhere in the world if you know the right people.

The cap contains the most psilocybin (psychoactive ingredient) out of the entire mushroom, but the stem also contains a decent amount so just eat the whole thing, or maybe 1 mushroom and another cap (depending on your size and the desired level of trip). Now the high of mushrooms is generally staggered, so you'll eat a shroom and not feel very much of anything for an hour, and then it will start to kick in, however you won't feel the full effects until a good 3 hours after eating it. A lot of first timers mistake this for the mushroom having no effect on them and then go ahead and eat another, and another. This is a bad idea, you should start by trying just one, and wait out the trip, if you feel like you could have handled more the next afternoon (enough time for the trip to completely pass) then the next time you can go ahead and add another mushroom cap.

A warning, they taste like rotting stale socks.
#125 to #113 - garbagebrain (08/16/2013) [-]
If you can't get over the taste, and have a good amount of patience, soak them in raw honey for a few months or so. The honey will absorb the blue pigment from the mushroom as well as the psilocybin. So you can trip balls without the "rotting stale sock" taste.

I heard that if you eat them with a handful of popcorn, you wont really notice the taste.

Most "shrooms" are very long stemmed with a small cap

although i wouldn't recomend eating random mushrooms

I never implied that is was exclusive to Skyrim, only that is was present in the game.

I personally really enjoyed the inclusion of real-life species, because I could identify with them. Nightshade, juniper, snowberry, fly amanita, blah blah blah..
User avatar #143 to #4 - Shadow Guardian (08/16/2013) [-]
No. The Agaricus fungus can be edible, depending on the specific mushroom. All Amanitas fungi and dwaldy toxic. For example the two most deadly mushrooms are: #1. Amanita phalloides, the Death's Cap; #2. Amanita virosa, the Destroying Angel.
User avatar #5 to #4 - quantity (08/15/2013) [-]
It has many different names, depends on where you are and what you are reading.
