I play bass, guitar and upright bass.
When I play guitar, chicks don't give a **** .
When I play bass, chicks don't give a **** .
When I play upright bass, suddenly chicks give a **** .

Moral: Start playing upright bass. Chicks love it. (and it's more fun than playing regular bass!)

I've always wondered how accurate you can really be with an instrument that has no frets. How can you get the exact note you want?
#145 to #72 - funnyrage (08/12/2013) [-]
You have to firmly feel it. Thats what my classmate said who has been playing violin since he was 7.Dude has absolute hearing and plays guitar now.Remember this name: Kristjan Kannukene, for he is going to be famous.
User avatar #139 to #72 - coolcalx (08/12/2013) [-]
muscle memory.

you practice your scales, and your fingers will just remember where all the notes are.
User avatar #81 to #72 - vampiricjoker (08/12/2013) [-]
I play a fretless bass, I play proggressive metal, its used more commonly in prog than traditional music metal sounds, due to the multiple tones we record and practice with, waves, reverb and delay can always give a good sound due to the easiness of smooth slides. Where as if i play some Iron Maiden or Metallica, ill use my normal fretted bass, for a more precision area of where my fingers need to be.

XD It's cool. Hoenstly, when it comes to stuff like this, I wish I could be picky, but no money. want to get a new acoustic-electric guitar. preferrably from Fender or Gibson with a narrow body in a faded-ish glossy black finish and 24 frets on an ebony board rocking some extra lightweight D'Addarios sounding off on either a Marshall or Peavey with a Crybaby for some extra fun with the acoustic feelign

I've got a couple of funny GC stories.

When I went to GC for the first time - this old guy in his 70's-80's comes walking in, wearing arm crutches. At first I thought he was buying something for a grand-child, because I would've never guessed he was a drummer. This old guy got down, he played "low rider" so well I could've sworn I was watching George Lopez..Then he just got and walked out like a boss... a boss with crutches.
#163 to #153 - ironstrike (08/12/2013) [-]
I guess it's not so bad if he knows what he's doing. Last time I actually had to go to one of those god-awful stores there was a 13~ year old punk was playing on a set of v-drums and the employee's walked by numerous times to turn it down, and each time he'd just turn it back up.

Keep in-mind this is pretty much right next to me, while I'm trying to make a 400$ purchase.

I would've had no problem if the kid had some sort of idea what rhythm was.
User avatar #167 to #163 - nerdicorn (08/12/2013) [-]
You dont understand. This kid didn't just know what he was doing.

He was ******* Tommy Lee lol
#171 to #167 - ironstrike (08/12/2013) [-]
I would've asked for advice.

Then instantly regretted it.

It'd probably look a little something like this.

"Hey kid, got any tips... "

..."because you know... my son sounds like **** " (even though I don't have a son.)
