It's better just to go to a local shop. There's a place called "Play-N-Trade" a town over from where I live, and I get money equal to what they are selling the same game for.

Well, we barely got a mall five or six years ago and the only electronic businesses that survive are the chains. If I want to buy a game that isn't one of the huge ones, I have to go there. The only times I actually sell games is when a friend or family member outright states that they want one I have. Do yourself a favor and never come to the Imperial Valley.

User avatar #359 to #348 - ninjamyles **User deleted account** (08/10/2013) [-]
it's rather obvious, rolling dubs is when you roll two number that are the exact same. hence them being double "dubs" of a number.

It's not as bad as my description made it out to be. I bought Fable 2 AND 3 AND Devil May Cry 4 all for under $20 nearly half a year ago. Fable 3 was worth it alone even though they ended up making it free anyway.

Another instance, with the help of a $5 off coupon, I got Gears of War 1, 2, AND 3 for $20 almost 2 years ago. I still play 3 till this day with friends.

User avatar #87 - I Am Monkey (08/10/2013) [-]
People who complain about trade-in prices usually don't understand economics. You get practically nothing for trading in all your old PS2 games because the demand for them is very low and they already have a truckload of them from people doing the same thing. You may think "I'm trading in this game for $15 and they're going to sell it for $40", but you have to consider that after a certain point there are more people trading in that game than there are buying it.

The truth is, if you take advantage of promotions and trade the games in a timely manner you get a pretty good deal. Most fairly new AAA games get you at least $30. Games in high demand get much higher trade in values. If you're planning to buy a game and trade it in when you're done, buy it day one and trade it in as soon as you're done for maximum return on your purchase.
User avatar #98 to #87 - slugnugget ONLINE (08/10/2013) [-]
It has nothing to do with economics.

Selling the game through ebay and craigslist will give you back a great profit.

I could buy a new game play it for 2 weeks and sell it for a few dollars less that I bought it, if I cut out the middle man. If I took it back to gamestop they will give me **** a **** price because they need to make their money.

That is another reason gamestop is dying.
User avatar #100 to #98 - I Am Monkey (08/10/2013) [-]
That's exactly economics. You could get more money selling it yourself, but you're taking less money for a zero-effort transaction rather than sell it yourself.
User avatar #109 to #100 - slugnugget ONLINE (08/10/2013) [-]
I dont think its just about zero effort.

Its convenient.

Its about getting the money/credit as quick as possible and almost definite fact that you will get something for it. You can put it on craigslist but their is no definite chance it will sell. Take it to game and you'll get reimbursement straight away.
User avatar #113 to #109 - I Am Monkey (08/10/2013) [-]
Exactly. I could sell a game myself online for close to the price I bought it for, but if I'm $30 light and I want a new game I'd be willing to take less money because it's convenient.
User avatar #135 to #87 - arsenymous (08/10/2013) [-]
Call of Duty black cocks 2 is still 60 ******* dollars at my gamestop, and when my friend tried to sell his they offered him 15. Maybe gamestop is a greedy ****** company.
User avatar #151 to #135 - nyangiraffe (08/10/2013) [-]
Or maybe they just had a **** ton of copies
User avatar #153 to #151 - arsenymous (08/10/2013) [-]
Why is every other game from the time black ops 2 came out 20$ when it remains 60? If they had alot of copies they'd lower the price.
User avatar #155 to #153 - nyangiraffe (08/10/2013) [-]
Because COD games stay at a pretty high price until the next one comes out. Black ops 1 finally dropped to a price where I would buy it when the second one came out.
User avatar #158 to #155 - arsenymous (08/10/2013) [-]
That is a fact that i am aware of...
User avatar #160 to #158 - nyangiraffe (08/10/2013) [-]
So the price for sale will stay jacked up because COD games are released on a year timer which allows them to plan out times when to drop price or keep it high, and the trade price will be low because their stock is high
User avatar #162 to #160 - arsenymous (08/10/2013) [-]
But if they have a surplus then why does the game cost so much?
User avatar #199 to #162 - holycrapimacupcake (08/10/2013) [-]
Because there is a high demand, high demand high price, low demand low price.
User avatar #166 to #162 - nyangiraffe (08/10/2013) [-]
Because people buy it. Just last week I saw 3 kids (maybe 12-14 years old) come in to get black ops 2 with their parents. I was only in the store for 10 minutes
User avatar #254 to #135 - I Am Monkey (08/10/2013) [-]
Your friend is full of crap, the listed trade-in price is currently $25
That's pretty good for a game that's almost a year old

I think that most people get it, but they are just unhappy that it has to effect them. They want the most bang for their buck and will complain when they feel what they get is under their expectations.
#311 to #87 - jakeattack ONLINE (08/10/2013) [-]
Soooo true, just like on pawn stars. I started watching it a lot, and I realized the deals are actually not bad at all. There, it could have been super old and cost a lot In the past, but unless it's rare and people want to buy it, it's not worthwhile. Plus he realy has to make a profit on this **** . For GameStop, they may have all been 60 bucks when you bought them, but unless a good amount of people want to buy thst game, it's gonna be pretty cheep. Only the big hits are going to sell for a decent price, but only close to when they came out

Oh boy, another GameStop content. At least this one is less about bashing GameStop and more about the people.

I just hate when people complain about it like it's the employee's fault that they're getting $.25 for Kinect Adventures.

One final thing, you don't get ANY streetpasses at GameStop. I bring my 3DS to work with me every day and I've gotten one.

yes, I work at GameShop. I'm also the same guy that answered all the questions about GameStop two weeks ago.

Yeah, the people who complain about that have no idea how businesses work. You are selling your game to a company that needs to re-sell it at a higher price to make a profit. Also, you are more than likely bringing in your old as dirt ps2 games that have a super low market. No **** you are gonna get 5 bucks.
User avatar #54 to #52 - bensho (08/10/2013) [-]
5 Bucks for a PS2 game? Even if we still took PS2 merch, that would be a lot. But that's besides the point. You're exactly right. It's called running a business.
User avatar #55 to #54 - zorororonoa (08/10/2013) [-]
well i meant 5 bucks if you were to bring in your horde of 50 ps2 games. I didn't mean 1 game
