what is the ******* point of even opposing genetically modified food?

its possible that the effects of the genetically modified food may be delayed significantly or may only be seen in several generations of the consumers so testing to check for extremely long term effects would take a either a long time or not be done. theirs also the possibility that there might be new chemicals brought in due to the modifying that may be not completely known about and said new chemicals could cause unforeseen effects. one example of this is margarine, the first of the margarine brought into stores were sold as a healthy alternative to regular butter but were actually found out to be less healthy and many company use new recipes that avoid this issue. there is also the issue of allergies but that's a minor one that can be fixed with through testing and labels.

Except some of the gmo crops have been around for a very long time.
For example golden rice has been fed to rats for over 100 generations, with no anomalous health problems occuring.
I'm sorry but if something does not show any adverse effects in 100 effing GENERATIONS (in human term that's 2000 years) then its pretty ******* safe.

well there are other issues when you go beyond what is natural like gmo crops spreading outside of fields and screwing with local wildlife. also though rats are similar to humans they are not identical so there still can be issues that might happen. and even though the risk's of something being bad for us and passing the test's done is very rare the possibility still has people paranoid due to the fact that alot of damage can be done if a dangerous gmo got released. also there is a very long history of things that were thought to be safe being actually dangerous. also people are paranoid of things that can cause this much change in the world because one wrong step could cause alot of horible things to happen.

I believe gmos should be carefully studied, monitored and regulated.
Also that all food with gmos should be labled as such to give people right to chose to eat it or not.
But I am sick of people attacking entire field of study just because of irrational fear and one company's ****** practices.

well yea their fear isn't based in logic but it is somewhat justified because they don't want to become a victim of bad gmo crops and their viewing it as a better safe than sorry view . its like nuclear power we can say its safe all we want but it only takes one mistake to have everyone paranoid and trying to shut everything down.
