H2 isn't the actual hummer, H1 is the closest you're going to get to a military style hummer.

hummer is the company that makes the h2, and the humvee (thats the military one)

ik wiki isnt the best saurce, but heres some reading for you
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hummer
User avatar #3 to #2 - corso ONLINE (08/09/2013) [-]
They're both made by the same company, the name of which is Hummer.
User avatar #5 to #3 - dirtydollar (08/09/2013) [-]
that is like saying that a bread company makes cake, but that it is a bread company,so it tastes like bread.

they both have different skeletal frames, the H1's is much tougher
#8 to #5 - thecrazyonedf (08/09/2013) [-]
perfect analogy.
User avatar #12 to #5 - corso ONLINE (08/09/2013) [-]
You do know that some companies make both bread AND cake, right? And somehow the cake doesn't turn out like bred. Probably because they aren't made by some moron that slathers icing on bread and goes BOOM, I MADE CAKE. It doesn't matter who makes the cake, it's going to taste like cake unless they just don't follow a recipe.
They're both Hummers. Get over it.

I raise... MY TRAP CARD dodge cummins cold start
Almost 1.5 million miles, been sitting for over a month in 15 degree weather, starts up fine. Skip to about 2 minutes, the stuff before that is just some time for the engine to warm.

You're telling me a truck involved in a high speed collision isn't expected to take some damage?
User avatar #28 to #1 - scorcho (08/09/2013) [-]
if that was a volvo, the paint would probably be slightly chipped.
User avatar #38 to #28 - makedonski (08/09/2013) [-]
Regardless of the make, there is a potential for heavy damage.

In the small town i live in (nearby Dresden) there are actually Hummers on the street pretty often. (Also Hummer Limousines, quite awesome)
#58 to #51 - hisnameisjake (08/09/2013) [-]
This is the first and only time I've heard of Dresden outside of this book... And you just brought back memories of the wierdest thing I have ever read

Need an example? page 51: "He had a picture of a woman attempting sexual intercourse with a shetland pony. He had made Billy Pilgrim admire this picture several times." It goes on describing the picture in vivid detail for the rest of the page...

If you're thinking the Engineers making this thing are stupid ***** , then you're wrong. Vehicles are designed to crumple and absorb as much momentum as possible in a high speed collision. The fact that the engine block looks so wrecked in comparison to the actual cabin, suggests its made very well.
User avatar #47 - trishaferr (08/09/2013) [-]

Imagine the H2 would have been tough... with his 3 Tons it would have made that other truck with just 1.5-2 tons into a postage stamp and would have surely killed the other driver. simple physics.
The engineers developing H2 made a good job in making it secure for civilian traffic. I mean even the hummers cabin is intact.
User avatar #64 to #6 - rieskimo (08/09/2013) [-]
First of all, the H2 is approximately 2.5 tons which is about the same as that Dodge 3500(which appears to be an early 2000's range model). The H2 is heavier only by about a hundred pounds or so.

Second of all the H2 is mostly just a GM 2500 body with the ugly bits built around it.
#9 to #6 - fragman ONLINE (08/09/2013) [-]
aaaand the H2 driver would be dead as well if it were "tough".

So i found myself driving through a very rich neighborhood looking for ahouse. i was lost but what i saw was like everyone had a hummer. this was late last year and i was just dumbfounded. im not joking here. probably 3/4 of the neighborhood had hummers. i personally think hummers are ugly and are just rich people being dicks like im so rich i can afford to fill up 200$ worth of gas everytime.
User avatar #49 - failtolawl (08/09/2013) [-]
well it could just not crumple and break the drivers neck. I think that the fact that the cabin looks relatively untouched that it did a pretty good job.

Can't stand those ******* Hummers. The fact that they're horrible for the environment is hardly their worst feature. They're too big on the outside and too small on the inside. They're the exact opposite of a Tardis. It felt like I had to squeeze into the driver's seat. The windows are too small to see out of properly. They're slow as **** , and they're practically useless. The only reason they sold was because of their gimmicky military-vehicle looks.
#29 to #21 - teenytinyspider (08/09/2013) [-]
Yeah but since gas prices started going way up, I noticed more people putting their hummers up for sale, or letting them sit and collect dust under the garage or where ever it's parked. It's like people are slowly wising up to this.

The Marauder: I think it was 4pounds on c4 detonated underneath it and all it got was a punctured tyre. A car so badass it comes with complimentary AK-47s.
User avatar #30 to #13 - adolfhilter (08/09/2013) [-]
Though when they exploded the hummer on top gear they put it attached to the undercarriage of the vehicle. For the marauder they placed it on the ground. Same amount of explosives, but with the extra space between the detonation and the vehicle, the Marauder endured less of an exploding force.

except that's wrong, the entire rear axle was shattered, you could see it in the clip, they just said it was only a tyre. this is the only time i have been mildly upset by top gear, it's a motoring show, and the expect the viewers to have no idea how 2 car.

The thing barely ******* limped out of the hole it dug. THAT SAID, it did what it was supposed to, kept the main body intact.

Also, it's vastly more expensive than a hilux, and has a ********* of technical issues.

was it in usa top gear or in the uk one?

Land Rovers are the tanks of domestic vehicles, My Mom got hit in hers as she was crossing, some dude in a pick up truck went strait in a turn lane and smashed into her back end, Pick up was completely totaled. Like Iron Hide vs. Sentinel wrecked. This is what happened to her Land Rover.
