I don't want to seem retarded, but I am actually still trying to figure out if this is a screenshot or a cosplay... sorry if that's a stupid debate...

It's an actual cosplay, the armor was made VIA papercraft, notice how the surface is made up of hundreds of tiny triangles.

That looks incredible good for papercraft.

Every time a guard in Skyrim says "Let me guess... someone stole your sweet roll?" I just have to save my game and calmly stab him in the pooper.

Did you not just see me kill a dragon and absorb his soul or what?

Did you not just see me do that?

I could never get into morrowind because I had no idea if there were quests or anything

I'd just walk around aimlessly, talk to some random people, loot crates for random weapons. I could never find missions, or a main plot line
User avatar #44 to #29 - captcrunch (08/08/2013) [-]
yeah, you really had to pay attention to the dialogue but even then if you took time away from the game and forgot what you did last using the journal could not be really useful because it would have all quest info mixed depending how the time it was updated.
User avatar #46 to #44 - whycanticaps (08/08/2013) [-]
I probably had quests, they just got buried in the journal under all sorts of misc. things

This happened for me to, but hey i was like 10 years old and haven't even had english in my school. But i still enjoyed the game (killing stuff is always fun!). Then later i have done a replay due to the amazing work of morroblivion.com. Seriusly check it out!

Just open the journal and look at the bottom of the left-hand page. There should be two options: quests and topics. Click on quests and the right-hand page will show you an alphabetical list. It default to the active quests only, but you can toggle it to show all quests; the completed quests will be grayed out.
Click on the quest name to see all the relevant journal entries for that quest.

There ARE a few quests that don't show up in the list, but not many.

Nerevarine vs Dovahkiin
User avatar #81 to #40 - strangemoo (08/08/2013) [-]
It all depends on how far in each of them has gotten. Say the Dovahkiin is in full Dragon bone armor with Daedric weapons? That changes everything.
#154 to #40 - nejmles (08/08/2013) [-]
Nerevarine. Because Dovahkiin can train only 5 skills per level

#163 to #40 - lankyman ONLINE (08/08/2013) [-]
The Nerevarine would not dress up as a Indoril ordinator, seeing as how the Tribunal Temple betayed him after Nerevar died (plus the Tribunal triumphant are flawed, power hungry and nasty)

User avatar #203 to #40 - tonyxx (08/08/2013) [-]
Since there is proof that the Dovahkiin may actually be the reincarnation of Tiber Septim, the choice is easy.
User avatar #226 to #203 - tombombadil (08/08/2013) [-]
Nerevarine is the reincarnation of one of the original war gods. So the playing field is pretty level.
User avatar #72 to #40 - tombombadil (08/08/2013) [-]
My bet is on Nerevarine. The equipment and training at his/her disposal is greater than that of the Dovahkiin's, not to mention that there's no way the dragonborn's first shout is going to take him out. It might help, but I think that given his combat experience, Nerevarine would be able to dodge/recover from it with relative ease. That being said, it would definitely be one one of the hardest fights he was ever in. The Dovahkiin is nothing to sneeze at, and he does become an adept fighter after all of that dragon hunting (I would mention the other stuff he can gain, but that's not canon to the main quest).
#144 to #40 - John Cena (08/08/2013) [-]
What if the Nerevarine IS the Dovahkiin
#65 to #40 - iamphoenix (08/08/2013) [-]
I'm going for Nerevarine. He/she is practically a god by the time you finish Morrowind and its expansions.
#73 to #65 - John Cena (08/08/2013) [-]
Isn't the Nerevarine literally a demi-god?
User avatar #80 to #73 - zomaru (08/08/2013) [-]
And the Dragonborn is basically the Avatar of Akatosh.
User avatar #113 to #80 - hydraetis (08/08/2013) [-]

User avatar #79 to #65 - PVTDickStryker (08/08/2013) [-]
But dont forget, a dragonborn rose to legitimate godship...
#87 to #79 - iamphoenix (08/08/2013) [-]
Not the Skyrim main player Dovahkiin, though. The Nerevarine is, as anon pointed out, a demi-god as powerful as any members of the tribunal. ***** crazy powerful.
User avatar #118 to #87 - kingrayne (08/08/2013) [-]
It seriously depends on a lot of things, say the Dovahkiin uses the Soul Tear shout. Then the neveravine would either be dead or seriously wounded.
#119 to #118 - iamphoenix (08/08/2013) [-]
It really does. After killing Almalexia (and taking hopesfire) and Hircine, you're pretty ******* powerful with the loot they give you.
User avatar #120 to #119 - kingrayne (08/08/2013) [-]
Also, the Neveravine can't permanently kill a dragon, so Odahviing or the dragon from the Soul realm could seriously help the Dovahkiin
#233 to #120 - iamphoenix (08/09/2013) [-]
Without a dragon, though, it's hard to say who would **** up who. Neither of them would win easily.
User avatar #234 to #233 - kingrayne (08/09/2013) [-]
To be fair, we never know what happens to the Dovahkiin after the events of Skyrim. Its entirely possible he ascended to godhood as well, but we wont know until TESVI

I guess its time to play Morrowind again
User avatar #82 - zomaru (08/08/2013) [-]
So, I have a question, I have trouble playing older games, and I started on Oblivion so I never got to play Morrowind.
Now, before you ask, I just know I have trouble playing games like Doom and Fallout or GTA 1 an 2. Not that they aren't great games, but I just can't seem to find enjoyment from these old games, allot of which have controls that seem random.
So, My question is, should I get and play Morrowind? How will I be able to enjoy the story If I might now be able to enjoy the gameplay?
#86 to #82 - palindromia (08/08/2013) [-]
You should. There are a lot of things in Morrowind the other games left out for some ******* reason. One of greatest things in Morrowind was being able to create your own spell as long as you had the money and magicka for them. With enough dough, you could be launching nukes from your hands. Also the mark and call spells are ******* tits. I recommend it. By the way, get the acrobatics and athletics skills as major skills. Just trust me.
User avatar #89 to #86 - zomaru (08/08/2013) [-]
Well, you can craft spells in Oblivion easily as well. And I would assume you mean to up those skill because of the fact that Morrowind has no fast travel feature?
User avatar #92 to #89 - Greevon (08/08/2013) [-]
They have fast travel. That big bug thing I posted a picture of is their version of fast travel. It's like the carriages in Skyrim.
User avatar #93 to #92 - zomaru (08/08/2013) [-]
Sure, but they hardly count if you wonder in the middle of nowhere and want to get back quickly.
User avatar #98 to #93 - Greevon (08/08/2013) [-]
That's true, but finding yourself in the middle of nowhere was part of the experience. That's where all the best interesting things happen. Really, that's a quirk that might actually be a game breaker for someone who is used to having fast travel in everything, but hopefully not.

As for spellcrafting, the difference is astounding. Spellcrafting in Oblivion is like an easy bake oven compared to the full industrial kitchen of Morrowind.
User avatar #102 to #98 - vatra (08/08/2013) [-]
Even so, I managed to make a spell combo in oblivion that broke the game and pretty much set my gaming style for skyrim. First I paralyzed the enemy. Then I would aim under them and shoot a fire ball, only this fireball was close to 50 feet across after it hits something, started out normal sized. This causes the enemy to join the Tamriel space exploration program. For some reason being paralyzed would cause them to fly like ten times as high. Everything died a falling death.
User avatar #105 to #102 - Greevon (08/08/2013) [-]
Hah.
User avatar #109 to #105 - vatra (08/08/2013) [-]
The only issue with that combo was if you used it with anyone near by, they got hit by the expansion of the fireball and then you had to fight them too, granted, all that got them was a ticket on the next rocket, but still.

i enjoyed morrowind, the only thing that bugged me was the combat, i don't know how other people feel about it but in early levels its so god damn clunky and retarded, you can end up trying to wack a ******* rat for 5 minutes. a rat that dies in 1 or 2 blows

So just thought you could use some more input. 4 years ago I had beaten Oblivion for some time and wanted a similar experience with a new story (like you I am assuming) my buddy gave me morrowind for free
>I'msuperpumped.jpg (I felt that must be known, that I was excited about it)
I tried it....and I could not do it. The graphics IMO!!! are just too horrible to be played happily now-a-days. And I thought this 4 years ago, when graphics were nothing close to what they are now. Also the game-play is MUCH more difficult. It isn't like oblivion skyrim or fallout3/new vegas. They give you a quest and you literally search the vast world for it looking for landmarks that they hinted at. Good luck in you choice, just felt you should hear both sides of this.

Morrowind is very much in the same vein of Oblivion and Skyrim. In fact, all the Elder Scrolls games are very relevant to the series overall.

In short, get Morrowind. It's cheap, it's fun, there are spears in it and many more ways to mix and match armor and PLENTY of ways to break the game in ridiculous ways. (I remember my older brother once trained his acrobatics skill so high that he would jump and it would take five minutes in real life for him to land.)

Morrowind is special in that the graphics are dated, but you can still play it without going "holy crap, what year am I living in?"

If you really don't want to buy it, just enjoy the story by reading some of the wiki pages on elder scrolls wiki, or find a let's play that you like. I'm sure there are some good ones out there.

How is the mod community for it?
User avatar #91 to #90 - Greevon (08/08/2013) [-]
I'm not sure if it's still alive, it certainly was thriving in it's day, but I'm sure you can wander the abandoned halls of ancient modding communities and search for treasure and overhaul mods.
User avatar #107 to #82 - therealpokemon (08/08/2013) [-]
Get it + Morroblivion. It's Morrowind on Oblivion graphics engine. It can be a BEYETCH to install but it is totally worth it. Trust me bro
User avatar #110 to #107 - zomaru (08/08/2013) [-]
Is Marrowind required for Maroblivian?
How it a Bitch to install
And can it be done over Steam?
User avatar #115 to #110 - therealpokemon (08/08/2013) [-]
Mooroblivion is a user-developed mod to bring the Oblivion graphics to the Morrowind story. It was a bitch for me to install because I knew nothing about installing games and was so scared of screwing up that I got scared by the instructions. I don't think it can be automatically installed through Steam, but I believe you can do it if you have a Steam copy of Morrowind and Oblivion. Or maybe you only need one. I forget. I DO remember that going through Morrowind was EPIC with Oblivions graphics. Totally worth it.

User avatar #126 to #123 - zomaru (08/08/2013) [-]
Well, It specifically says its still in beta, but as good as its going got I suppose.
The only problem, I'll need either Wyre, which I can't stand, or OMM, which I have never been able to get any Mod manager to work, for Bethesda games or otherwise.
I think I'll just wait for Skywind.
User avatar #127 to #126 - therealpokemon (08/08/2013) [-]
Hmmmm/ I don't believe OMM ever gave me any issues. Do you run Vista?
User avatar #128 to #127 - zomaru (08/08/2013) [-]
No, 7. But Mod Managers have just never worked for me. Even when I use Fallout 3 and move it outside of my programs folder it still actively refuses to work.
User avatar #129 to #128 - therealpokemon (08/08/2013) [-]
Well. The only thing I can think of offhand is a compatibility error between the type of Windows 7 you have and the version of OMM you had. For example, perhaps you were running a 32 bit version on a 64 bit machine?

At elast try it one more time, dude. If it doesn't work, then that sucks, and yeah, wait for Skywind. But if it does, you'll get one of the best experiences of your gaming life!

My brother recommended Oblivion to me a couple years ago:

I spend 20-30 minutes and make a character, then decided I didnt like it and start over. An hour and a half later, I finish making a new character and get through the tutorial cave with the king or whatever.
I get out and have no idea what to do
I wander... and wander. I come across an Oblivion gate. I thought this was what I was supposed to do first, you know? The main story or whatever? Go in.
Die
Die
Die
Give up, decide to play later.

Never started again. So tell me, is it really fun to do (correctly) and what DO you do first?

Yes, it is incredibly fun. In addition, there is a complete overhaul mod for Oblivion called "Morroblivion" which lets you play Morrowind with Oblivion graphics and the quest help from Oblivion, as well as the combat mechanics. (they're currently working on 'Skywind', the skyrim-morrowind conversion).

At any rate, the first thing you do once you leave the sewers is you go to this place called 'Weynon Priory.' If you look at the compass (the line with all of the symbols on your UI), you'll see a red or green arrow, indicating the direction you need to go. If you want to skip all the exploring en route, you could also just open up your map, click Weynon Priory, and fast travel there.

You're welcome!

In addition to the main quests and random favors for NPCs, there are also four guild side-stories -- The Fighter's guild (mercenaries), the Mage's guild (packed with intrigue and necromancy), the Dark Brotherhood (Assassins), and the Thieves Guild (the most fun, in my opinion)

You forget to mention Oblivion has well over 200 hours of gameplay.

Thank you for reminding me of that mod.

Morroblivion is the greatest thing i've discovered in ages. That first time seeing the good old Morrowind landscapes again, oh god was it amazing!

Ah Morrowind was such a good game. In my opinion Morrowind will always be better than Oblivion and Olivion will always be better than Skyrim. I just find the diversity in armor and spells more interesting. Even choosing a class felt just better. But I can't wait for The Elder Scrolls: Online though.
User avatar #174 to #166 - nidhugg (08/08/2013) [-]
I've heard the Elder Scrolls Online is just Skyrim online
User avatar #185 to #174 - dontdeletemyuser (08/08/2013) [-]
i heard elder scrolls online happens 1000 years before the events of skyrim.
User avatar #186 to #185 - nidhugg (08/08/2013) [-]
It does. But I think it's going to be like Skyrim gameplay wise
User avatar #184 to #174 - derpomancy (08/08/2013) [-]
that's a good thing though, I mean the big fear was that it'd just be another typical wow clone MMORPG with TES slapped onto it.

i must admit i can't beat morrowing for the simple fact it does not have a red arrow point me to my objective,
#15 to #7 - John Cena (08/07/2013) [-]
I have tried morrowind several times since it came out...... and what you just said goes for me too!
User avatar #14 to #7 - Mumford (08/07/2013) [-]
If you've not you should. If your having that amount of difficulty if you have morrowind and oblivion on steam you can get a mod to put morrowind into the oblivion engine. If that's not your thing their also working on the same thing but in skyrims engine. Just look up Morroblivion in google it'll be easy to find.
User avatar #84 to #14 - PVTDickStryker (08/08/2013) [-]
Bad thing about Morroblivion is that you need a clean version of Oblivion And I like my saves.....
User avatar #16 to #14 - guiguito (08/07/2013) [-]
i was actualy halfway trought installing morowblivion, got those silent voice **** and everything, i wonder what made me stop, oh well time to catch on.
User avatar #17 to #16 - Mumford (08/07/2013) [-]
I'd go for it. It seems like a lot of effort but soon as you've installed it once it's easy

stupid me, i just deleted skyrim to open space for some stuff, and i could have put the three of them in one game.
by the way thanks
User avatar #83 to #7 - PVTDickStryker (08/08/2013) [-]
Thats what makes Oblivion and Skyrim superior ONLY in combat and graphics, other than that Morrowind holds the torch. With games ridiculously dumbed down nowadays, why do you think Demon's Souls and Dark Souls were treated as god-sent?
User avatar #124 to #83 - beardman (08/08/2013) [-]
This post... I cannot agree more. Thank you for being awesome!
<Dagoth Ur agrees as well
User avatar #24 to #7 - zorororonoa (08/08/2013) [-]
I kinda like that feature. Gives the game a more exploration like feel.
#56 to #24 - danzey (08/08/2013) [-]
To a certain extend, its frustrating if you cant find **** though, i dislike people saying it dumbs the game down for all the cod players when they add a marker, skyrims was discrete enough to just show me the direction, and stop me getting bored with mind numbing numbers of hours looking for some ****** to start a finish a quest.
#58 to #56 - danzey (08/08/2013) [-]
start a finish a quest, you heard me.
User avatar #227 to #56 - zorororonoa (08/08/2013) [-]
I don't think oblivion and skyrim dumb it down. I like the markers too. But sometimes it is fun to just switch to morrowind for that added challenge
User avatar #28 to #24 - guiguito (08/08/2013) [-]
oblivion had it's share of exploration even with the red arrow, i mean just look at all the random stuff you can come by just blindly enjoying the landscape.
gotta say all those recent easy games have numbed me and i can't find **** simply looking all over the place, expecialy since i do not have that much free time anymore.
#241 - septol (09/12/2013) [-]

Little off topic, but holy **** , my dick is grinding its ******* teeth just thinking of the new Elder Scrolls Online game.

Aldmari Dominion master race is here. So all you human sympothizers can just go sucka Sload.

You seem to know a lot about the Elder Scrolls series, what were the names of all the ES games?
User avatar #221 to #214 - nang (08/08/2013) [-]
I cannot wait for this. At first I was very against it saying 'This is the opposite of what an Elder Scrolls game IS' but now I've seen a bit of it and read about it they seem to be pretty on top of it. I've had a change of heart and cannot WAIT!

Also, BOSMERS FTW! ELF ARCHERS ALL THE WAY!
#216 to #214 - John Cena (08/08/2013) [-]
This mmo makes me sad because i liked playing elder scroll games for the story. Now to get to the good parts of the story I'm going to have to deal with an army of kids just to progress its going to suck
User avatar #217 to #216 - timesmath (08/08/2013) [-]
I like the challenge. I know its troublesome. But hey, if you hate playing with other people you can play single player. I personally can't wait though. I'm very socialable with video games, and find that mulitiple people (albeit at times it can be annoying) makes for funner gameplay.
#164 - unoletmehavename (08/08/2013) [-]
I once played morowind when i was little.i had no idea where to go what to do i sucked at fighting so i was just running away, beating only crabs, rats and some worm like creatures. But i still had fun.

Anyone else found the Skyrim crossbow needed? I dont know but something about the crossbow in the Skyrim world was something that I am glad they put in it... didnt like it when it was for DLC.. and I had to wait for the DLC to be added to the computer pissed me off pretty well... but at least TF2 had me occupied

Also something about Auriel's Shield reminds me of the Mirror Shield for Ocarina of Time.... (Which I thought should have been used more not just 3 areas in the game)

Oh I know that Auriel Shield blown Spellbreaker out of the water cause I can absorb magic (Like in Ocarina of time) and when I am ready I blow the magic (Like in Ocarina of Time boss fight and penis joke) and just ******* destroy them

It's good for low level bandits at cliffs. Just absorb attacks and then BOOOOOOOOOOOM!
