Most likely because we don't want singers who perform near naked. Eurovision is about style and talent. not how good you are at twerking.

I think in British English, collective nouns are treated as a plural.
not coming from a British person

Morocco and Israel have both participated in Eurovision, so it's not like you actually have to be European.

It's like X-factor, except the countries chooses a singer to represent them and it's only the finals.. Every country participates with one artist from their own country, and each artist has one song. Then the whole of Europe can vote on which country/artist that should win.

Actually, Eurovision isn't just for European countries, as evidenced by non-European countries like Israel participating.

Because it is eurovision. that means, any country that is part of the European Broadcasting Union.. That's why Israel, witch is in Asia, is taking part in the contest, and other countries, like Tunisia and Egypt could take part, if they wanted to. If the US became part of the EBU, they could take part too! (Not that they would, but hey...)

The only good win out of Eurovision was Hard Rock Hallelujah.

By your map, you'd wonder why Israel is in it.
If they can come in so can the Americans.

Contrary to popular belief, the Eurovision is not a strictly European thing.
The name Eurovision comes from the organizer, the European Broadcasting Union, an alliance of public service media entities centred in and around the European continent.
Israel is a member of the EBU, and thereby qualifies to participate.
