thats the reason why you see so many destroyed buildings after a storm/hurricane and **** ...
look at the news, usually you still see a few houses standing. in most cases those are the few brick houses that were built in that area...
User avatar #18 to #14 - JariWeis ONLINE (08/02/2013) [-]
People are really ******* stupid.

"My wooden house keeps being blown away and torn to shreds by hurricanes whilst my neighbour's brick house stays intact."

"I should build another wooden house!"
#57 to #18 - thismustbeseen (08/02/2013) [-]
Don't worry bout' that bro. The insurance will cover it.
User avatar #58 to #18 - failtolawl (08/02/2013) [-]
wooden houses are better insulated, and last longer. Not to mention cheaper. Way ******* cheaper.
User avatar #93 to #58 - JariWeis ONLINE (08/02/2013) [-]
Is it cheaper to buy a new wooden house every 2 years or buy 1 brick house that lasts forever?
User avatar #96 to #93 - failtolawl (08/02/2013) [-]
You act like houses are destroyed by hurricanes every two years if they are built with wood. I lived in Florida for 16 years and the wooden house I lived in never was destroyed... Tornados are which destroy wooden houses (and steel buildings...), only serious hurricanes do. Which just so happens can launch a 2X4 into a steel wall. So please stop acting like you know what you are talking about. Not only that, but a brick house is actually less sturdy because one side of the house doesn't support the other side.
User avatar #97 to #96 - JariWeis ONLINE (08/02/2013) [-]
That can be seen as a negative and a positive.

It also means that one wall can be sent flying, whilst the rest remain standing instead of everything going up high.
User avatar #102 to #97 - failtolawl (08/02/2013) [-]
you know how a hurricane works right? if a wall is gone, the wind goes through the house and launches the entire roof up.
User avatar #103 to #102 - JariWeis ONLINE (08/02/2013) [-]
**** , forgot about that.
User avatar #29 to #14 - zenherp (08/02/2013) [-]
that and hurricane propelled bricks are dangerous
#35 to #29 - anon (08/02/2013) [-]
unlike hurricane propelled wood or any other material
#24 to #14 - anon (08/02/2013) [-]
Actually, the reason why they build so many houses outof cheaper materials is that even brick houses get severely damaged during a strong hurricane or tornado, so building a new, light house is way cheaper than repairig a brick house.

#73 to #17 - kingpongthedon (08/02/2013) [-]
Yes, but culturally, Mexico is radically different from the US (and Canada). It just doesn't make sense to include them when talking about North America from a social, political, or cultural standpoint. For example, when somebody talks about Europe, they probably mean Western Europe. They mean the France, Italy, Germany, and the UK, not the Balkans or Estonia. It's the same thing for us. If we're talking about North American politics, we're talking about white people at the White House. If we need to talk about our brothers down South, we'll specify and say Latin or Central America. We're just so different it's best to assume that Mexico and the rest of Latin America isn't part of the discussion most of the time. It's a cultural map and it represents a lot of the culture each region has adopted. That's why the Middle East up there isn't just thrown into Asia, either.

Oh, don't worry! We don't hold grudges because people have visited or lived in a place. It's just strictly an outlaw on trade between the two countries. It's because of the conflict between Cuban/American relations, and the Cuban Missile Crisis.

Actually, Eurovision isn't just for European countries, as evidenced by non-European countries like Israel participating.
User avatar #82 to #66 - killthebilly (08/02/2013) [-]
aye, but America is faaar away, and Israel is still close by.
User avatar #87 to #82 - galaxyguy (08/02/2013) [-]
That is of course if we pretend that in this day and age, physical proximity would matter much in these decisions.
User avatar #89 to #87 - killthebilly (08/02/2013) [-]
Of course it does. Israel is close to Europe, and that is probably why they've been allowed. If America sougt permission they would be denied as they clearly are not a part of Europe and far from.
User avatar #108 to #89 - galaxyguy (08/02/2013) [-]
Israel is in because of the relatively close relations it has to the western world (owing its existence to the UN), in particular the USA who have aided them greatly in maintaining their independence. It has zip to do with proximity.
User avatar #110 to #108 - killthebilly (08/02/2013) [-]
maybe. If you say so. I tend to stay out of political discussion because i always feel the urge to violently murder everyone involved because they sound so stupid.
User avatar #112 to #110 - galaxyguy (08/02/2013) [-]
I agree, which is why I am worried about the heading this conversation is setting a course for.

I will say this though, Eurovision is quite political. It's something of a big European diplomatic friendship group-orgy.

User avatar #53 - stultum (08/02/2013) [-]
Because it is eurovision. that means, any country that is part of the European Broadcasting Union.. That's why Israel, witch is in Asia, is taking part in the contest, and other countries, like Tunisia and Egypt could take part, if they wanted to. If the US became part of the EBU, they could take part too! (Not that they would, but hey...)
User avatar #105 to #53 - mads (08/02/2013) [-]

Casacada performed for Germany.
I figure the reason she lost was because she copied Sweden's winner from last year.
