Females, because they have to bleed for approximately 8.5 years of their life, bear children if they want kids, and put up with an equal amount of **** from the opposite gender as guys.

I don't think taking birth control from the age of 13 to 50 would be healthy. And it's not the bitches I was talking about, it's the fedora-clad self-proclaimed intellectuals and the jersey-shore-esque assholes that they have to put up with.

It doesn't matter if somebody takes birth control for a month or the rest of their life, they'll still have side effects either way. I'm not saying birth control can't hurt you, I'm saying a normal woman taking it with no side effects isn't going to magically have the side effects after 40 years.

Birth control doesn't stop periods.

There are also serious possible side effects with any birth control.

Some birth control does stop periods. And as I stated before, yes, birth control CAN be dangerous, but so can walking outside, or using an airplane, or anything for that matter. Remember that ALL reported side effects have to be listed, even if it only happened to one person.

Yes, every side effect experience, be it by only one woman, has to be listed. But if you research the specific drug, it tells you the frequency in which the certain side effect is found. Some are 90%, others only 1%.

It can't stop periods, it can only make you have them less often.
It's not only minor side-effects that are an issue. It can increase your risk for cancer (especially the ones that postpone periods) and some doctors won't prescribe it if your risk is already high due to age, heritability, etc.

Well, birth control takers studied over 40 years are more likely to die of cancer, hear disease and stroke. So there is that risk.

Also, I've never seen any legitimate evidence that stopping periods for extended amounts (think 30, 40 years) of time does no damage. Only non-scientific articles. Do you have anything to offer on that front?

But yeah, I know loads of girls who can't take them due to effects too. The injection is even worse.

Actually, not trying to argue here or anything, but it's still recommended women have their periods on birth control. While it prevents ovulation, the uterus still creates a wall of tissue which is the period itself if the egg doesn't get fertilized. It's not healthy to keep that wall of tissue inside for too long, which is probably why most birth controls continue the period every 1-3 months. I'm not sure what would happen if they didn't have periods, though. It is more beneficial to take it since it relieves most cramps and lightens the flow. Just going by what my doctor told me.

That's true in some cases, but if it aint' broke don't fix it. If you don't have period issues, there is no point in you taking it if you have to incur heightened risk of cancers and other nasties.
I've never, ever heard that it's 'still recommended women have their periods on birth control', that's a frightfully commercial attitude.

Er, I wasn't being bitchy. It was a genuine question. I can't find one, I was wondering if you had.

For the hear disease etc thing, you can literally just type it into Google.

Well, I've actually found other things citing other issues such as issues with testosterone, HPV infection as well as other stated cancers.

All in all, it's a gamble as to what you may hinder or help health wise. So how exactly am I wrong? Some evidence seems conflicting, but many a study sited increased instances of horrible diseases.

A few of my friends take that type, the one that completely stop periods because of their heavy bleeding and extreme cramps, but those are known to carry more possible side effects. Average I-don't-want-to-get-pregnant birth control usually doesn't stop periods, just makes them extremely irregular. I have the implant. Sometimes I won't have my period for months, then I will have one that lasts 3-4 weeks. Don't get the implant. it's awful.

It's available to everyone to take. You don't need to have heavy periods or bad cramps. It's only up the the discretion of your doctor.
BC also has a lot of benefits. No one seems to realize that.

notice how guys live on average about 8.5 years shorter than females. So while you're bitching about bleeding, here we are. Dead. You can eat great food on your period. You can have fun. You can laugh. You can cry. You can do anything you want (except maybe not bleed)

We're ******* dead.

Everyone in this thread is a ******* idiot. "It's so hard being a female because we bleed all the time."
"It's so hard to be a man because we have to deal with women complaining."

You will NEVER know what it is like to be the opposite sex (at least not really). You don't know what they go through. You don't know how they feel. You will never know how they think. Just. *******. Drop. It.
