it means everything, so it also means nothing since nothing is something or is nothing not something? Is it simply the total absence of something?
It would have to be something to be part of everything so this abstract piece cannot represent nothing and since it can't represent it, it cannot represent everything.
User avatar #14 to #1 - Kairyuka (08/01/2013) [-]
Nothing might exist but nothing is scientifically impossible to prove. You can't prove the absence of everything. It's quite an interesting exception to the only logical system we can utilize.
#16 to #1 - anon (08/01/2013) [-]
You're incorrect. In order to represent everything, it represents a part of nothing as well. In quantum studies, something can be on and off at the same time, and just as the same, if this is actually something that represents everything, it could be other worldly or extradimensional and blah blah, so it could represent nothing and everything at the same time.

Your limited mind amuses me.

But by this logic we could not use 0 or letters.

"Nothing" is a placeholder for voidness or darkness, and the concept itself exists, in fact, you can almost say that as long as we are conscious of it, it exists, in a sense. What is ironic about this is that, this doesn't mean that things we are not conscious of don't exist.

However, you can also go some other routes.
Something might not be able to mean everything if it encompasses nothing because then, it would mean nothing.
Which reminds of the statement "It means everything, and nothing."

Or you could say that "nothing" actually exists, and that it's our perception of nothing that is flawed.

Or perhapes, and this may be the simplest interpretation:

Is that that it means every thing Everything that exists, if nothing does not exist, then it it has nothing to do with "everything" so the piece itself does mean everything.

Logic is fun isn't it?

Guys... I've made some abstract modern art as well. It represents the arrogance of nature, and the triumph of steel-belted radio's.

It remembers me of suprematism movement, not the ones you have mentioned.
In suprematism artists tried to represent the most simple thing, and that was an white square inside anothe white square. Check it out, it's cool

sorry about my english

I love this comic.
Hell, I actually think this is the most amazing art concepts I've ever seen. I mean normally, you'd call ******** right? But a piece meaning everything, infinity, the most abstract piece of art created, I think that would be pretty cool.

I realize this is a joke but it's still so ******* true... I seriously ******* hate art so god damn much. And before you idiots start saying **** like HERP DERP VIDEO GAMES ARE ART! TV IS ART! MOVIES ARE ART! Just shut the **** up. I mean museum **** . **** specifically made to go in a museum or hang up on a wall. Sculptures, paintings, and **** like that. If you are going to school to become an artist then you're just a complete ******* idiot. You will never make it in the real world. There's a reason for the term starving artist. There are millions of other people out there who are just as good if not better than you. Millions. What do you call an art graduate? Unemployed.

I don't understand why people dislike abstract or nonrepresentational art. Abstract and nonrepresentational art can exhibit line, color, texture, space, shape, tone, movement, unity, variety, balance, contrast, rhythm, pattern, proportion, and harmony (the elements and principles of art) just as well as representational art. In fact, some abstract works show these better than representational work; compare the work of Jackson Pollock to some college art major and I'm sure Pollock's would come out on top. To say that abstract or nonrepresentational art is not art is ignorant, especially if the only reason you have is because you do not understand it.
