You my friend are full of **** .

Weed smoke has only tar in it that relates to ill effects, cigarettes have all sorts of ****** chemicals such as arsenic and rat poison. if you were to do a study between someone who's only ever smoked cigs versus who's only ever smoked joints/bowls the person who smoked pot would be healthier by far.

The biggest reason that pot is illegal compared to cigs is because the FDA and big Pharma cant control it, it grows wildly in any region of the world. Big Pharma and the FDA want money, thus they've demonized pot and said all the untrue things (such as it contains 75% more nasty chemicals ect) it's a naturally occurring herb that doesn't need pesticides (unlike most other herbal plants; it survives because of it's very nature, being a Weed.)

(also THC oil, as extracted from marijuana has cured cancer in multiple people, Youtube; RUN FROM THE CURE - Full Version "Rick Simpson's Run from the Cure" for more information. It's known to cure Cancer, Crohns disease, and many other ailments, as well as regulating diet (for the better and the worse, depending on what you do while high and how you ingest the THC).

Because one affects how you think and the other doesn't.

Only a piece of the puzzle!
Consider the Following

Marijuana does not have any physiological, and only slight psychologically addictive properties. Cigarettes, however, are cripplingly addictive in both respects. Therefore, people will be forced to buy cigarettes to fuel this addiction. Key word: Buy.
The government makes tons of money off of cigarettes, whereas nowhere NEAR as many would buy marijuana. Now, could the government make money off of the use of marijuana? Yes, huge profits. But a lot of the American population would be enraged by the full legalization of weed use. To keep the media and protective suburban moms quiet, the government is pretending to fight the drug. When in reality, they are planning on making the use of medical marijuana a massive source of revenue.

Cigarettes make more money and pot is frowned upon by a portion of the population.

Sadly they won't be using medical marijuana for medical revenue. There are far too many people that make a lot of money off the war on drugs. Fighting it is more profitable than allowing it. It is all about the free market and the free market can make more money fighting weed than it can selling it.

Because the very rich paper industry in the early 1900's knew that a hemp industry would destroy them, so they lobbied for the prohibition of Marijuana.
