Well, due to Canada's low amounts of oil, engineers have developed syrup-powered engines which are expected to completely replace gasoline engines by 2017.

Canada has similar amounts of oil to saudi arabia, who has the most in the world, it's just largely found in the tar sands that are expensive to produce oil out of.

Nah, the oil companies have the government in their pockets, and they kill/remove anyone and anything that threatens their profit margins. Canada is safe.
