That's... actually really true. As far as I've read, one of the main components as to why we are omnivores is because we could pretty much outrun(distance-wise not speed) any animal. So our oldest ancestors just pretty much followed their food to death, kind of gnarly when you think about it.

And we actually did. We ****** up those mammoths with pointy sticks, brought them to the ground, pulled out and trashed or dried the organs for later use, and tore off all of their skin. Our women then chewed the fat behind the hide and dried it and then tanned it so that we could have mobility while wearing it. We then wore the skin from the mammoths and ate their flesh. We'd even use the bones for rituals, healing powder, etc. When you get right down to it, we were ******* insane.

It wasn't his intention to do that. He wanted a golden age of science and understanding for all of humanity. Horus just ****** everything up. That little whiny bitch.
#120 to #98 - thewisedane (07/30/2013) [-]
I know. He wanted an empire of atheists, only devoted to science, understanding and progress, but that plan backfired, didn't it? Now the Tau got that job, and is doing it rather well.

Actually, the alternative version of the 40K Warhammer I want to write centers around EMPRAH. Either he will arise and try to get his empire out of the gutter, or perish and humankind will begin to degenerate into countless small empires who are left to fend for themselves. I am not sure which.
User avatar #123 to #120 - crazyolitis (07/30/2013) [-]
Do it where the EMPRAH pulls itout of the gutter and gives the high lords of Terra an ass-whooping, as well as the Adeptus Mechanicus. Actually, almost every single high-ranking person over there.

And lets not forget Rowboat Girlyman (Robout Gulliman) for ******* the space marines over in such a way they could never recover.

Warhammer 40k: Return of ass-whooping, all-mighty, xeno-slaughtering Galactic GPS.

technically, the emperor is a kind of galactic GPS, you know? He's there to make sure the ships can actually go to the right place.
User avatar #128 to #126 - thewisedane (07/30/2013) [-]
Yes, I am aware. I might be new, but I learn stupidly fast.

No, that should not be the name. The idea is to make the empire even more fit for fight and less grimdark, while also making the enemies more relentless in the process (EMPRAH awakes, Astrnomicon lights up as a lighthouse on steroids, Tyranids notice, more of the bastards incoming).
User avatar #130 to #128 - crazyolitis (07/30/2013) [-]
To be honest, I'm wonder about the story before the emprah. Like, The first alien contact, because humanity has always been xenocidal maniac, for as far as I know.
User avatar #131 to #130 - thewisedane (07/30/2013) [-]
They have been scared of xenos at all times, but EMPRAH never wanted to fight them all at once.

I havn't got a clue about the rest.

If humanity managed to band together, I'd feel sorry for any alien threat that tried to take us. We are, inherently: stubborn, angry, spiteful, and bloodthirsty. If some alien were to attack us, we'd probably nuke them while they are on our planet, just because we can.
User avatar #268 to #25 - trivdiego (07/31/2013) [-]
whose to say that other alien races arent exactly like us in that regard
User avatar #39 to #25 - durkadurka (07/30/2013) [-]
That depends. If some alien race were to attack us before we have sufficient interstellar travel, it'd go down like Cortez and the Aztecs.

The is because the ability to travel the distance between stars is so complex that any civilization capable of this must be advanced far beyond ours.
User avatar #50 to #39 - zeroxnight (07/30/2013) [-]
only if we worshiped them like gods. If any aliens attacked us for our planet, they done goofed because we will nuke this planet before we hand it to them
User avatar #65 to #39 - dafuqmang (07/30/2013) [-]
Except the Aztecs were really militaristically bad compared to Spain. The had no way to fight horses, guns, stronger blades, and disease. Meanwhile humanity (as a whole) has: really good medicine, weapons that keep getting stronger and stronger, pretty large militaries (China and America alone could probably be a very very sufficient force), pretty good transport, and like I said, a stubborn streak.
User avatar #80 to #65 - heartlessrobot (07/30/2013) [-]
Aztecs were advanced too. But any race that can reach us would look at our weapons as though they were children's toys.
User avatar #47 to #25 - organiclead (07/30/2013) [-]
We'd probably nuke them if they came in peace, just because we're bitter.

I doubt that.
User avatar #73 to #63 - organiclead (07/30/2013) [-]
There's no reason to believe we wouldn't. People freak right the hell out when they encounter something they're not familiar with or prepared for. Just look at how people react whenever some bloated animal carcase washes ashore or something that just doesn't look right to us. User avatar #254 to #244 - kommandantvideo (07/30/2013) [-]
No, no race has ever been killed because of religion, but there have been attempts to kill groups of people due to their religion, such as the hugonaut killings in France, the holocaust during WWII, killings of christians in feudal japan, holy wars, crusades, etc. etc.

But you're right in saying no race has ever been destroyed because of religion
#226 to #224 - paradoxpoetic (07/30/2013) [-]
If you can name one other species that thinks in abstract consciousness, then I will agree. But it's this ability to think, and our intelligence to do so, that allows that irrationality. If we weren't intelligent creatures we would be unable to be irrational.

Dolphins are pretty close, not really there, but close.
#231 to #229 - paradoxpoetic (07/30/2013) [-]
They have advanced communication and what-not, sure, but not to the extend other creatures have. Dolphins have a similar sense of community, for example, whereas Ravens have the ability to use tools to assist in problems. But none of that same level that we do, and they only show signs of certain parts whereas we have the whole package.
User avatar #236 to #231 - moshthun (07/30/2013) [-]
Yeah, that is true, I have seen communication between my sister and her husband, out of hearable distance they looked at each other and after two or three seconds my sister came downstairs with everything we lacked for the bbq and the cup of tea her husband wanted. With no prior communication. Both also have difficulty seeing. Yet, we think that we are so superior, and we are unable to think of a way to better our communication, but once we find it, everything is going to look primitive and simple.
#237 to #236 - paradoxpoetic (07/30/2013) [-]
That's the same with everything though. As we advance as a species we look back and view our older selves as primitive. An example, sharp sticks were the **** back when we invented them. No more beating them with rocks, we can pierce the skin and kill them faster. And swordsmen looking back at the men with sticks would have thought the same, and now guns and soon we'll have weapons like lasers or some other advance tech where we'll look back and view the outdated information as primitive. We grow and learn and expand at an increasing rate, thanks to our intelligence and ability to think.
