But if its shining, it hasnt been tested (aka not worn in battle)
True knights armor would be covered in scratches, dents, dings, dirt, grime, and most of all blood

If armor is still shining, its a knight who doesn't fight (or literally just walked out of the smith shop and its the armors first go, but really, that's once a lifetime)
#181 to #161 - Rascal (07/28/2013) [-]
Obviously he's amazing and never gets hit. There are many ways to block, defend, counter, evade, parry, dodge, etc without having your armor get hit. That's why they have a shield and weapons.
User avatar #207 to #181 - gytisout (07/28/2013) [-]
if he never gets hit then why wear armour, he would be lighter without it easier for him to dodge and whatnot.
#264 to #207 - Rascal (07/29/2013) [-]
That's like saying you shouldn't wear a seatbelt because you've never been in an accident before.
#185 to #161 - Rascal (07/28/2013) [-]
The ****** knight who get hit all the time usually loses against the dragon, or die during the journey to the princess. I'd rather bet on the knight that isn't so stupid that he just lets hit opponents hit him just because he has armor on.
#266 to #185 - cloakedone (07/29/2013) [-]
Every been in a real sword fight? its ******* god damn impossible to not be hit, no matter how good you are and how ****** your enemy is.

User avatar #164 to #161 - herecomesjohnny (07/28/2013) [-]
why would you leave your armor soaked in blood? it'll just rust even more, and dings and dents impede movement, better bang those out. Armor needs maintenance, gov'na
#166 to #164 - cloakedone (07/28/2013) [-]
Have you seen a real set of armor? You dont just bang out those scratches and gashes, and dents remain as scars even when you bang them out. You cant fix real armor 100%, every scratch is permanent and every dent will leave a golfball sized tell
User avatar #170 to #166 - herecomesjohnny (07/28/2013) [-]
sure, but nonetheless you need to take care of your armor as much as possible, hell war was for traditionally for the high echelon back in ancient greece given it cost so much. So you make sure to polish off the rust and such (also as a passing thought it's a life-saver against tetanus). A knight in shining armor doesn't mean a knight in unused armor
User avatar #20 to #10 - anonibusii (07/28/2013) [-]
Depends on the number of peasants, no?
#52 to #20 - morkotlap (07/28/2013) [-]
Naw, the armor was too expensive and too prone to rust for anyone to just not care.

I remember when I was in grade school, we had a person who was an expert on medieval history come in and teach us. She told us a suit of armour was equal in cost back then to a private jet today. I wouldn't be surprised if knights had their armour buffed and polished after every fight.

Sure, he's not AS useful, but he is still a highly trained combat expert with a high social standing.
#246 to #15 - IamSofaKingdom (07/28/2013) [-]
When King Henry V invaded France his knights only won the battle of Agincourt because they were using longbows and leather armor vs France's Calvary and heavy armored knights. The mud was up to their knees and when a knight of France was knocked over he would drown in the mud because he was too heavy to lift himself out and they were too slow to catch up to the hit and run longbows of Henry V's army.

#155 to #115 - organiclead (07/28/2013) [-]
Sounds like your friend confused Lawful Good with Lawful Stupid. Lawful good isn't about saving puppies, giving dramatic speeches or smiting anything and everything, it's about having a set of standards that you adhere to. It's about being the best person you can be. It's about being a knight in golden armor, having the rain come down and then sitting down to wash off the tarnish. It's about being a hero.

When you are a Paladin, you're the Green Lantern. You're playing King Author. Hell, by some interpretations you're even Batman.
