Just wonder how many more kids he could have saved if he put the mask on himself. I always wonder about that scenario when I hear these kinds of stories

I thought the exact same thing here man. I'm thinking about saving private ryan where Miller says "Earn it".

A lot of these situations are once in a lifetime things. Even when your job is firefighting your life is probably not going to go down in such a way that you had been trapped in a small fire with a kid six or seven times. Opportunity comes when it comes. It's only the moment that really matters when you're in the moment. I get where you're coming from a logical purely objective point-of-view but this is how I rationalize it.
User avatar #38 to #37 - ariakon ONLINE (07/26/2013) [-]
The reason (I think I remember) was that they were trapped in the building and he was carrying her out, and the smoke was too thick and she would've died.
User avatar #40 to #38 - BroadSword (07/26/2013) [-]
I meant future fires where he could save other lives, but since hes dead he cant save any more lives, it ends with that one instead of a greater possible number.
User avatar #44 to #40 - ariakon ONLINE (07/26/2013) [-]
Well you get trapped in a burning building with someone you care about and only one oxygen mask, then tell me if you can sit and contemplate you existence like that.
User avatar #45 to #44 - BroadSword (07/26/2013) [-]
I understand the guys rationale but just looking from a purely apathetic perspective makes you wonder.

I've watched quite a number of animes, Clannad and After Story are the only ones to make me fully cry. Even just hearing a certain song from them can bring back the feels.

That said, it's still easily one of my favourite animes.

Thank you very much. Only watched the first few episodes of Clannad, but after finding out what would happen, I am kind of procrastinating it...

Don't know who thumbed you all down, though. Thumbed you back up.

Clannad: After Story is on Netflix, too. So that's available after watching the first season.

Someone mentioned somewhere to me that switching masks like that (term is "buddy breathing") is really hard to pull off. More often than not it ends with both parttakers dying.
User avatar #103 to #79 - sidathe (07/26/2013) [-]
I can't see how buddy breathing is hard. Just take a deep breath and switch it with your partner repeat.

Dude you real? just.... real? you sound so ******* restarted right now its unbelievable.
Because an israely person never did anything good in his life.
And its not the people, its the government that israel doesn't like. most of israely people want peace with the countries around them but its just not possible at this time.

The feelings are pretty much mutual in that regard.

Of course, an Israeli has never committed a selfless act.

Those news anchors are dicks. They should have just asked her questions regarding the fire like "Can you tell us what it was like" rather than saying "Hey, you just survived a horrific fire, I hope you know that this firefighter is dead and it's all your fault."
