I don't know about the anon that gave you an entire paragraph about Satan in the Islamic tradition. For all I know that's his story in Islam. I can tell you that in Catholic tradition (Which I used to be a part of) he was an angel named "Lucifer" or "Luzbel" which roughly translates to "Light bringer" He used to be a beautiful angel, the most gorgeous of them all. He was basically God's no. 1 son. But then he grew envious and thought that God should treat him as an equal. He made a... rebellion of sorts and was defeated by the Arch-angel St. Michael. Then he was sent to hell to be punished for all eternity. Or at least that's whay I remember.
User avatar #217 to #62 - thebrownydestroyer **User deleted account** (07/23/2013) [-]
That story kinda makes me feel bad for Satan. A couple of hundred years in hell and a downgrading would of been enough for him to learn his lesson, no wander he's always mad.

All christianic faiths and judaism are man made religions.
User avatar #83 to #80 - thebestpieever (07/23/2013) [-]
Yep. They are. I don't see how that is relevant. I am not promoting any faith here, I am just explaining what they believe. I am not taking sides, just bestowing my knowledge of Christian religion to a person who was asking about what Christians believe. That knowledge remains the same, whether I believe it or not; be it false or true.
#98 to #83 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
It is relevant because Islam is the Religion created by God for us. He even says "On this day I have perfected your religion for you." It is not Religion that forgives, it is God. Religion is the guideline.
User avatar #100 to #98 - thebestpieever (07/23/2013) [-]
Fine, whatever man. Then let's just say Christianity is a fairy tale ok? Islam is the one and only truth, whatever. That does not invalidate anything I've said.
#104 to #100 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
And God made an oath to never let man corrupt the Qur'an. It is all part of His plan. All a test.
#102 to #100 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
Actually, as Muslims we must believe in the Bible and Torah but we do not follow it for they have been corrupted by the hands of man. It's all in the second chapter of the Qur'an. We just do not follow them because of that corruption. Every Prophet is a muslim. From Adam, to Noah, to Abraham, to Jesus, to Muhammad, peace and blessings of Almighty God be upon them all.
User avatar #149 to #102 - thebestpieever (07/23/2013) [-]
Ok. You Muslims follow the bible and Torah. I will follow Muddy Waters rolling stones because I have to go to a concert and sing Brown Sugar.
#44 to #25 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
Satan is a Jinn. A being created out of smokeless fire. When God commanded all of the Angels to prostrate before Adam (peace be upon him), Satan refused and when God asked him why he said "you have created me out of smokeless fire, and he is but of sound clay" To which God Almighty said "Get ye down from here! Thou art of the haughty and arrogant!" Satan used to be called Azazeal. He used to worship God/submit to God's will a.k.a. Islam for 10 000 years and then that happened and that is when his name was changed to Iblis or in english Satan. And God knows best.
User avatar #66 to #44 - thebestpieever (07/23/2013) [-]
Just to clarify, this is Islamic tradition. Not saying it isn't valid, or wrong, but it is not the version that most westerners know.
#70 to #66 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
Islam is not a tradition. It's been the only Religion since the beginning of the creation of Angels and Jinn. Before humans were created.
User avatar #73 to #70 - thebestpieever (07/23/2013) [-]
Mate, I am not trying to insult you. From an academic point, the conjunction of beliefs held by a religion is referred to as "Tradition" as in "Christian tradition says that baptism is the only way to heaven" or "Shintoist tradition drives oneself to leave one's flaws behind in order to ascend as a being"
#82 to #73 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
It's not about insulting me. You know what it is about. I do not have to explain it to you. You know very well what you are doing. The unbelievers argue therewith in vain as to weaken the truth. But truth shall always prevail over falsehood.
User avatar #90 to #82 - thebestpieever (07/23/2013) [-]
Mate, I am not trying to say ANYTHING about what people believe. In any case I am trying to tell them what the tenets of a religion are so they can decide what they believe in. I don't care what they believe in, but to know the truth you must also know the lie. I don't care what they determine is which.
#94 to #90 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
I know the lie. That is why I speak the truth. And God knows best.
User avatar #96 to #94 - thebestpieever (07/23/2013) [-]
Well I am glad that you have found what the truth you want to follow in your life is. Now let other decide what they believe in based on information from every source available.
#101 to #96 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
So, you tell me this but yet you try to askew Islam by calling it a tradition and then saying no no no this is right.
There is a very different way you and I portray the message.
I speak my "opinion" rather and I can not force Islam or belief on anyone.
"There is no compulsion in Religion."
But when you preach your "opinion" you are passively (whether you are aware of it or not) delegating that opinion.
And now the question comes into affect.
Are you Religious?
User avatar #106 to #101 - thebestpieever (07/23/2013) [-]
No I am not a religious man. And the term tradition is used still perfectly valid to refer to a religion's BELIEFS, not the religion itself. It doesn't mean tradition as in "Pancake Day" or "Boxing Day" and it is not meant to disrespect any religion. Words can mean various things. I didn't express my opinion at any point in our conversation, I have only spoken what I know. I said what Christians believe in, but I have never stated that I believe or not in it. I also never said anything about Islam that was an opinion, the only thing I said about it is that is less common to find people with knowledge of in in western nations.

#52 to #37 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
Far is it above God to take a wife or a son or a partner. And God does not take helpers such as those who lead men astray. An atheist once said to a Muslim. "I only want to enlighten you" To which the Muslim responded. "Who is more guided, those who are close to God (in submitting their will to God believing the angels and the prophets (peace be upon them and the books) or the one who isn't?" Surprise surprise, the atheist says again "I only want to enlighten you". Atheist could not even give a straight answer. Knowledge is not enlightenment, wisdom is. And wisdom is God given. And God is one. He who has no partners, the living, the self-subsisting, eternal. He does not slumber nor can sleep seize Him. He guards all that is in the Heavens and the Earth and He feelith no fatigue in guarding. He is above the 7th Heaven of space and time, above His throne and footstool that is in a manner befitting to His majesty. The One and Only God translated to the Arabic language is one word, Allah.

All I will do is direct you to read all of this image. Yes, it's from fiction. But the point I think it should be made clear. Why do we need religion? Certainly, it's a thing to hold on to in faith, but I think most people take it too far with the whole 'leading and enlightening others to the truth' thing.

And also, a question: Why do we need enlightenment? That requires being told by others what the reality is. But who's to say that they're not wrong too? Or trying to trick us, for that matter?
And no offence intended, but before you say something along the lines of 'millions believe it', just remember that conviction and belief do not equate to truth.

In case you didn't get the joke, then it was just because you said 'the only reality'. Some websites ago, someone made a comment about the game they played for the longest being Reality. Graphics were awesome, gameplay was crap.

What is good for me is good for my brothers. And what is good for us comes from God Almighty. And what comes from God Almighty is sent down by inspiration to His prophets (peace be upon them all). And revelation given to Gabriel (peace be upon him) from God to give to the prophets (peace be upon them) so they can convey the message and relate to us. If God sent Angels down to do so the matter would have been dealt with already. That is why He chose man to convey the message, so they can relate to us.

Just like how you guys say "I know that feel bro."
User avatar #99 to #88 - krasnogvardiech (07/23/2013) [-]
Yet again I will ask 'how do you know this?'. You claim that God only sends good unto us and he fixes all the problems in the world, then why does evil still exist? Why would we still commit crimes and sins if the causes have been fixed already?
I know you know that feel, anonbro. I just want to hear it out of your own mouth. Or text, or something like that. Damn the internet for taking away such good expressions and/or expletives.

Like I said. It comes from God. In the Qur'an. The difference is, if you reject it, of course you are not going to believe it. And you will remain the same way you are today until the day of resurrection when it will be too late.

You will ask to be sent back to this life and this world and you'll plea a promise to change and do good and believe. Yet God already knows that you won't, you just want to avoid the Hell fire of which you will be confronted with on that day.

All we do is warn. And all we have is this life to be DJ 4DM1Nished. Not the next.

User avatar #127 to #117 - krasnogvardiech (07/23/2013) [-]
Just to get it out of the way, no I won't. If I am indeed decided to go to either Heaven or Hell in my supposed Afterlife, or to rot in Purgatory or something like that, then I'll accept my place. Dug myself into that hole.

And again, you give the same set if input. I must ask again: "Why is God/Allah/whatever's up there right?". You keep saying they are, but I see no evidence to support that.
There's too little to confirm it for my liking. I suppose that's where we'll part ways in opinion.

Our world is full of bastards who would rape, kill, torture and mutilate one another given the right circumstances. That is actually happening now, in parts of the world neither of us will likely go. 'scuse me for trying to distance myself from the problems in the world around me.

Face it. We (humanity in general, I mean) do all this, supposedly right in front of an all-powerful father in a higher plane of reality. If he hasn't cast us aside yet, I have no idea. If he has, then I completely understand.

I perfectly agree. It doesn't matter if you believe in a supreme being or not, but rather how you choose to behave and interact with your fellow men. At the end of the day, following a set of rules because of fear it's worse than following them because they are the right thing to do. And if a God should deny me salvation because I didn't took his faith for lack of something to pinpoint me to his existence, even though I was a good man. Then that is not a God I will follow.

So? What's that supposed to mean? It's the internet so I should degrade myself into a immoral human being with an intellectual capacity as a door knob?

User avatar #92 to #89 - krasnogvardiech (07/23/2013) [-]
That would be funny, I will admit. You can if you'd like to.

See that is where we diverge as humans.

You should have respect for yourself and gain a little dignity. Not for others but for you.

I tried that and nobody paid attention. That's no way to get feedback.
Nah. I'll just do whatever I please.

Verily thou art following in the foot steps of the Evil One. The accursed rejected Satan.

Follow not in his foot steps oh mankind.

And obey God and His messenger.

For I fear a day of terrible punishment.

Hellfire, whose fuel will be stones and men and jinn alike.

If what I'm doing is following the footsteps of Satan, then I might just keep doing that.

Sorry if this offends, but I see nothing whatsoever that could point to some higher power watching over us. No offense, but all I can see is the possibility of it. What exactly would I look for, which can't be explained already?

This isn't exactly relevant, but I'd ask you to take a look at my comment #136. It has the origins of it, and the Satanic Rules of the Earth. I've seen the Commandments, but in all due honesty I see no way they could be enforced.

If he was a loving father and if he was listening to us, I'd ask him to trust us a little more. He just makes us go to hell regardless of the magnitude of our sins. He doesn't police us too efficiently. A criminal isn't going to stop when they hear "You will go to hell!". Satanism allows us to punish others if they have wronged us. Kind of like a robber being shot at by all of the villagers, or the Dragonborn being swarmed when they kill a chicken.

I already answered your questions. Read the Qur'an yourself instead of asking why.

You are not supposed to gain attention.

Why does thou not say, I seek nothing from you. My reward is from my Lord.
User avatar #132 to #119 - krasnogvardiech (07/23/2013) [-]
That's fair enough. Service a reward unto itself and all that. I just want something back, that's all. Two kinds of people indeed.
#143 to #132 - anon (07/23/2013) [-]
So why have something now that is limited to our space and time when you can have all that you want, need and more for an eternity in the next life?
User avatar #145 to #143 - krasnogvardiech (07/23/2013) [-]
Because I still have this one to deal with.

Imagine me slumping against my desk if you like.

Well, if I was Satan first I would deprive God of power by subverting his worshippers. I'd do this by going around in a human form, proclaiming that I am his son unto the mortal earth, and go around telling them a bunch of crap so that they do completely opposite to what empowers him. Then I'd gain power from that and build my own army or convert mortals or build a superweapon. Whatever eliminates my enemy.

Before Satan was cast out he made supplication to God. He said, "Oh my Lord, since though hast put me in the wrong I shall do wrong. Give me respite until the day of judgement and I will mislead all of mankind. Except for those whom truly worship thee with devout sincerity." And God granted the Devil this respite. And hence why the world is the way it is today. And God knows best.
