I recommend watching a video of it being done, it makes it much easier to follow what the hell is going on.

Wow. What are the chances of that? I just looked at how to tie this tie yesterday for a wedding. The chances of it popping up on here is...uncanny. THE WORLD REVOLVES AROUND ME!

I wore an Eldredge knot for my graduation! Our colors were blue and gold

Same! We didn't use colors though.

I keep trying this but I always run out of tie before I get to the end.. And I'm not even close to being somewhat even to start off with like in the picture.
User avatar #68 to #60 - deemetaldragon (07/22/2013) [-]
Also, make sure that you keep the knot as tight as you can for each step so that you'll always have extra length to go around

example of my attempt on a friend for his senior prom

start by measuring up the large end of the tie to where it would be after you've finished it. (example: top of pants waistband) If needs be, raise it a little until you have a sufficient amount of the narrow end to complete the tie.

Cheers for the advice! Who knows, I might try it again soon.. No real need to use it, but it'd be nice to learn just in case a tie-worthy event crops up.
User avatar #71 to #69 - deemetaldragon (07/22/2013) [-]
No probz, man. Honestly, like many other things, it's in the practice and application. I haven't done it on myself yet because I lost my ties. :'(

With that tie and that handwriting, you're headed directly for the executive level.

This knot is ugly as **** . It would crease the tie and since you cant realistically loosen it to make it quick to take off and put on, you would have to tie it every day. Which, from a guy who wears a tie everyday, is a pain in the ass.
#83 to #11 - kfdnpah (07/22/2013) [-]
If you're keeping your ties knotted up for more than one day, you're going to have some serious creases on your tie regardless of the knot you use. Please take care of your clothes. It pains me to even think of someone abusing their ties by leaving them tied for days on end for the sake of "convenience."

I have to wear a suit and tie every day and I switch up the knots and ties daily because I want to match different ties to different outfits. Keep yourself presentable and someday, you'll get a position where no one's allowed to say anything if you show up to the office without a tie. A man's relationship with his appearance says a lot about his relationship with success. Yes, convenience and practicality is important, but taking the extra time to go the extra mile to make sure you look more polished is a noted habit among successful people.

o_O, you can loosen it through the long end and slide it up off your neck, through your head.

i tied this tie every day at work because i like to look good. it only looks bad if you do a ****** job. find one tie, and only tie that one as an eldridge.
#10 - anonymous (07/21/2013) [-]
I wore and Eldredge Knot to prom. My tie was the one from 50 shades of gray. My dates' mother hasn't looked at me the same since.
