Actually, when i was in china, it was said to me that winners of gold at olympics get treated like kings, get their own butlers, have huge houses and are absolutely free to do what they want- as long as they train and get more gold. As soon as you get silver, YOU are a butler. At max.

I think that's a really ******* stupid policy. It's exactly like the fans attacking and crippling professional players because they made a mistake. These ****** can do **** even you couldn't do while dreaming and you treat them like you're still better than them.
And **** the whole, "It's because they are representing our country" **** , because ****** hell, if someone proved themselves to be great enough to even make it to the world stage, they ******* EARNED that spot! Give them praise and acknowledgement, because these professional athletes could have decided to do something that takes so much less effort, but they decided to bust their asses for our entertainment!

honestly, you're thinking too hard about it, it's china, a country with soo many people, they can do that, it;s in their mind set, life is really cheap there, you fail to make the country look good, there's a replacement already waiting, they would rather replace a "defected" athlete then fix him and make him better, like a spoiled brat really, plays with a toy till it breaks, then gets a new one. even if they do work their asses off and are technically better than most, there's always more where it came from, hell some of them trained when they started walking. *shrug* i don't really care.

In their act of attempting to make themselves look like a superior country by this policy, it just makes them seem brutal and harsh to every other country. Not only has their plan failed but now everything thinks they're even bigger dicks than previously though

But Phelps is still a total douche, like many cocky professionals in and outside the US.

The first half isn't fake though....

Bronze winners are more happy than silver winners in general. The bronze winners still made it into the top 3 against all others, the silver winners lost against the 1st.

Like when the US hockey team lost against Canada in Whistler and started crying like babies

Englands football team is kinda bad, they have great players but are the unluckiest people on earth
User avatar #200 to #10 - guymandude (07/20/2013) [-]
oh my god that Bunker Hill bit got me, even my old history teacher would have thought I was weird for laughing that hard.

This was the world cup and England were laughing and partying around because of how easy the group they got was and they actually struggled. Plus American football wasn't as good as it had been in previous world cups like 2002 and 2006.

This is how England saw it
<---
User avatar #77 to #37 - fukkendragonite (07/19/2013) [-]
No no.... That's how The Sun saw it. The average reading age of that newspapers readers is 15.

It's the scum paper and everyone else, or at least the people I talked to knew it would be fairly tough.
User avatar #78 to #77 - fukkendragonite (07/19/2013) [-]
There CERTAINLY wasn't any 'partying' that's something I can guarantee.
User avatar #140 to #77 - onceman (07/20/2013) [-]
Oh well sorry I wasn't aware, were most English people expecting to win though?
#225 to #140 - anon (07/20/2013) [-]
well yeah most of the country was expecting to win all the games, but that's because we still have this deluded sense about our national team that we can win the world cup! when in fact we are woeful!
#119 to #77 - anon (07/20/2013) [-]
fairly tough?? i agree is not easy but any team in the world would feel glad if they get that group.

Somehow the silver medal is the most bitter one. You know that you almost had the gold medal, your final goal, within your grasp, but you missed it by a little... Bronze on the other hand is a reason to celebrate, hey you got into the top 3, congrats man!

We are pushed to win and have fun doing it. That is a massive message of the olympics in GB

China and Japan ruined it with their attitudes

I didn't see any others acting like that because I didn't watch much
User avatar #28 to #27 - mads (07/19/2013) [-]
What ruined it was the Americans during the womens swimming. The american team laughed when one of them didn't get a medal.

Then the other english girl beat the world record, which she set the year before.
User avatar #30 to #28 - natanhiel (07/19/2013) [-]

So China gets silver and dry hump the wall.

Britain get bronze and attempt death by drowning.

I think Great Britain is a highly propagandist country, which oppresses its people
