It's how EA thinks making games works.

ME3 is the funnest in the series to play. ME2 is largely regarded as the best in the series. both were published by EA
User avatar #60 to #21 - wtfduud (07/19/2013) [-]
That's because BioWare.
The only thing EA did for it was creating that At-Launch-DLC to milk more money out of it.
#78 to #21 - wishanonscouldpost (07/19/2013) [-]
Me3 has the best combat yes. Too bad the mass effect series isn't supposed to be focused on the combat.

Its supposed to be focused on story, dialogue, and character development. In ME3 the story went to **** . Not just the ending either, there was a huge number of problems with the story.
User avatar #207 to #78 - sketchE (07/20/2013) [-]
so playing the game isnt supposed to be fun? and what is truly wrong with the story because i loved it
#208 to #207 - wishanonscouldpost (07/20/2013) [-]
A game doesn't need to have combat to be fun. I found it more fun to make decisions and see the story.

Their are a huge number of problems with the story. First thing is there is a magic space gun blueprint found on mars at a convenient time, when the facility has been running for decades. Second thing is that at the end of the ME2 DLC, you blow up a entire system and you apparently are supposed to go to some kind of hearing or court, but ME3 skips that entirely. Third big thing is the endings. The endings are agreed to be horrible by nearly everyone and there are a lot of videos about it. Instead of fighting the reapers for real you just use a magic space gun to solve everything. You destroy the mass relays which should cause the galaxy to be cut off from each other, and cause some races to even die out.

User avatar #211 to #208 - sketchE (07/20/2013) [-]
point one. please go decipher sumarian writing for me. thats exactly what they had to do. decipher a language with no key. the only reasn we know anything about ancient languages is the rosetta stone and we still dont know everything because we only got a peice of it. now imagine doing that for a culture that sends messages through sensory. there was no prothean rosetta stone so yes deciphering will take time. not to mention the entire galaxy thought shepard was full of ****

point 2: you forgot shepard was detained and stripped of his rank at the beginning of three didnt you. admiral hacket says hed give you a medal if he could so having what seems to be the highest ranking military official at the time backing you helps quite a bit. although you didnt see it there were plenty of clues to imply it happened

point 3: you played the game right? you remember howmuch it took to kill sovereign? or what it took to take out the destroyer, the mini reaper?and there werent just ten or something. there were millions killing all of them one by one would take too long, everyone would die before they finished. FTL travel is still possible without the relays.the relays simply allow you to do it ver greater distances. no one is cut off especially since asari and krogan live for centuries. and if they could build the crucible that quickly a relay shouldnt be too hard
#213 to #211 - wishanonscouldpost (07/20/2013) [-]
I understand it takes a while to decipher it and everything, the problem is that there was no mention of that kind of project going on on mars until ME3, and it conveniently pops up. Also it wouldn't be nearly as hard to decipher it with Shepard, considering Shepard has the information from the beacon.

And yes it hints at it slightly, but the point is that you should of been able to see the trial or take part in it for the choices and the dialogue.

And yes, it takes a lot to kill the reaper. It would be better if they used tech from killed reapers that allowed their ships to fight them, instead of using a ****** plot device.

Yes light speed travel is possible, but that takes a long time still to get across the entire galaxy. Not to mention in ME light speed travel requires a certain type of rare fuel. Take note even reapers require relays to travel properly.

The quarians rely entirely on the mass relays for resources. Their fleet would die off quickly without them. Not to mention a relay blowing up destroys an entire star system, so that too.
User avatar #215 to #213 - sketchE (07/20/2013) [-]
maybe shepards knowledge is what helped them? but remember he was dead for two years and out of alliance hands for another. the people on mars were researchign prothean tech, which everyone in the galaxy was researching.

while i agree that would have been interesting it would seem like more of a filler personaly

i think its a pretty good plot device. instead of trying to bring all the ships to one point and then be retrofitted with new tech (something that takes a while as you see the with the normandy) they got a single weapon developed over thousands of years and built in just one.

how long did it take for the reapers to get from the edge of the galaxy to earth which is farther away than any system is from the other? a few months? its entirely possible

and theres only two ways the game could have ended in regards to the quarians. theyre dead or they have their home planet back. not really reliant on the fleet now are they
#216 to #215 - wishanonscouldpost (07/20/2013) [-]
Well Shepard didn't even know about the project until the start of ME3 so I doubt he could of helped.

Reapers are far more advanced then any other race, so their tech can't really be compared. Though it still took them a long time. The reapers also used mass relays to get to earth, they didn't just go straight to earth.

When the quarians live it is mentioned it will take a while for them to adjust without their suits, so they can't live on their planet normally yet.
User avatar #217 to #216 - sketchE (07/20/2013) [-]
exactly this is a top secret base where only the people working there know whats going on. it took a cerberus mole for them to know.

meaning that integrating reaper tech into council ships would be near impossible. it still didnt take them that long to get to the next one though

while they will still need to adjust they have the resources that their planet had including food minerals and so on.

another thought i had is the trial may have not started when the reaper invasion hit. courts are a slow thing and military is no different. remember how long it took for the zimmerman trial to start? the kid was dead for almost a year before the trial actually started
#218 to #217 - wishanonscouldpost (07/20/2013) [-]
I would think Shepard who is pretty much the only expert on reapers and a high ranking military official would be a part of that.

Good point on the rest of the stuff.

Though another thing that isn't very good story wise is the fact Shepard got traumatized by some random kid dying, when he could of seen his crew turned into DNA sludge. Seeing a kid dying shouldn't be that big of a deal in comparison to the other **** that happened.
User avatar #219 to #218 - sketchE (07/20/2013) [-]
while hes an epert and high ranking he was stripped of his rank. also some things are top secret no matter who you are. if you work at area 51 and a highranking person asks what you work on you have to refuse to tell them. i dont think its just the kid dying. if you notice he hears voices of dead crew members. the kid was ust the tipping point. having a child say that you cant help them then watching as it omes true will hit you a lot differently than the brutalities of war
#220 to #219 - wishanonscouldpost (07/20/2013) [-]
Well I am pretty sure top secret facilities would bring in an expert if there was a massive invasion coming and there was only one person who knew anything about it.

Maybe the kid was just a tipping point, but it seems like that whole plot point wasn't needed.
User avatar #222 to #220 - sketchE (07/20/2013) [-]
additionaly think of the kid and shepard being broken by it as showing that everyone has weakness and everyone can be broken
User avatar #221 to #220 - sketchE (07/20/2013) [-]
yes but the reaper threat was largely ignored until the invasion started. at the same time whether you had the arrival dlc or not shepard was on grounds for treason since he joined cerberus even people who worked with him before wasnt sure if he ws trust worthy
