May I ask you what inspired that name, sir? Might it be that you are a fan of a certain series of novels as well?
User avatar #332 to #257 - foaly (07/19/2013) [-]
Yes a character from a certain series inspired me to use that as my username.

That whole book, in particular, may have been my favorite of the series. Just Artemis's switches between completely different personalities were hilarious.
#315 to #313 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Yes, freaking Orion. His flirting with Holly was hilarious, even though I'm not particularly into Holly/Artemis shipping. Also I don't read horror much so I haven't seen that sort of thing...to be honest I'm a bit of a coward so it probably wouldn't work out well.
User avatar #316 to #315 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Not liking that shipping is what makes it so hilarious, to me. He tries so hard, and it feels like Holly has to keep herself from shooting him.
And, for me, I love horror. I love the feeling in my gut as I try to sleep that I'm going to be tortured horribly or something like that.
I suppose it's the adrenaline one gets from fear that I love, really.
#318 to #316 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Yes, it was indeed fully, but Artemis was pretty much my first fantasy crush. So I guess that altered my perception of it. Also I like the kind of horror you think about, not shock scares, because shock scares really scare me for a bit until I think logically, but scary things written well dont seem that scary until your lights are off and your bedroom is dark...which is why I like scps. My friend who is addicted to creepypasta tells me that they aren't scary though :/
User avatar #319 to #318 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
You see, shock scares just make me laugh. If we're talking about the same shock scare, because I'm thinking of when people just try to make one thing so terrifying it's pretty much the epitome of fear.

Horror is like cooking with a bunch of spices. Less is more.
#320 to #319 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Yeah I know, but I scare easily. Sudden things startle me. My sister jumping out at me from behind a door still scares me sometimes, for christ's sake. I am pathetic in that regard. Gore can make me laugh though, I've laughed at many people dying in adventure movies and supernatural. Especially when crushed by falling objects.
User avatar #322 to #320 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Eh, it's a bit different between things like movies and anything in motion. Sudden shocks like that scare me pretty bad too, because it's just unexpected all the time. And even when you expect it, it's still kinda unexpected.
And oh my god yes, falling object death. I'm not sure why, but it's just hilarious.
#323 to #322 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Thanks for understanding. Also there is really funny falling object death in an episode of supernatural called mystery spot. I love it also when people are killed without buildup suddenly. It is hilarious. Also I have to sleep soon.
User avatar #324 to #323 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Yeah, I suppose it is just how sudden they die, and you're just left there thinking "Did that really just happen?"

Also, have a nice sleep
#325 to #324 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Yeah :3 thanks bro, ttfn

User avatar #272 to #271 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
is it possible to NOT be a fan where the first book has a beast of a man beating up a troll with a mace, after shooting it in the face?
#274 to #272 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Hell yes that was awesome. Who is your favorite character?
User avatar #276 to #274 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Oh damn that's tough...
Well, Butler is pure badass.
Mulch Diggums probably makes me laugh more than any other character
And I just love N°1 general character.

Between those three, I really can't decide.
User avatar #277 to #276 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
How about you? Who's your favorite?
#278 to #277 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
I like Artemis, mainly because he is absolutely USELESS in physical confrontations but he tries. Holly is next because she is badass, and then n1 because he is just amazing being all superpowers and polite.
User avatar #281 to #278 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Best thing about Artemis, to me, is his character transformation. I loved his wit at first, but thought he was a tremendous dick.
Now he's witty and much less of a dick.
#284 to #281 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
I love when that sort of thing is done with a character, they start of as a dick but not totally irredeemable and then become better people along the way, I can't stand characters who start perfect.
User avatar #287 to #284 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Yeah, any time I read a book, and the main character is a Mary Sue (If you're not familiar with the term, it basically just means they're perfect, generally overpowered, and any flaw they may or may not have is actually a strength in disguise) I will put that book down in the shame box until it's thought about what it's done.
#291 to #287 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Oh god I hate Mary Sues. They can be hilarious though if written badly enough. Also I like you, we should be friends.
User avatar #296 to #291 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Sadly, I've never seen a MS written bad enough that it's funny. Generally it's just an extremely obvious Self Insert of the author's greatest hopes of what he could possibly be.
#300 to #296 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
That's what I find funny about it. I found a free book for download and I downloaded and started reading it, it has enough mistakes to make a grammar nazi cry and the character was horrible. It was awesome. I actually read blogs where they find the worst of the worst of these books and post quotes. I can understand why people wouldn't like it though.
User avatar #301 to #300 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Yeah, that's the big downfall to downloadable books. They don't need any form of editor.
Or, really, anyone to tell them "No, burn this awful idea and take a writing course before you try to publish something again"
#306 to #301 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
It really makes me feel like less of a ****** author though, and I guess I appreciate it more because I wrote and read a lot and know what's going wrong and it's like a train wreck. The bad romances are the best. Especally teen romance. Oh god so many laughs were had.
User avatar #309 to #306 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Oh god the romances...
Even worse is when the writing newbies try to write any form of erotica... It's like reading the dialogue of a porno.

Any type of horror is great, also. It's always either a Saw-like attempt at sheer gore, or a failed attempt at Stephen King.
#280 to #278 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
But I love them ALL
User avatar #282 to #280 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Yeah, there really isn't a character I hate. Even the "villains", when they exist in the series, I love them.
Colfer is such an amazing writer. You checked out any of his other books?
#286 to #282 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
I've read half moon investigations and started...the one about the future. Also speaking of villains isn't opal koboi amazing she is such a bitch
User avatar #288 to #286 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Hm, never read that one. I read his Airman and The Supernaturalists however, and those were pretty great.

And Koboi is perfect, and the reason why she started her vendetta? Hilarity embodied in words.
#292 to #288 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Supernaturalists is what I meant. And I love how koboi is so vain and thinks of the weirdest/best tortures I mean the temple of Artemis was perfect
User avatar #297 to #292 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Another thing about Koboi, everything is so intellectually devious. It's boring to read about villains who try to win by sheer physical power of some form, whether from an army, some magical device, or just being roidraged.
Even Voldemort in HP was kinda... eh.
#303 to #297 - ediblepandas (07/19/2013) [-]
Yes, exactly! She is so interesting and sly. Also Spiro was kinda cool even though he only was in one book.
User avatar #307 to #303 - ilovehitler (07/19/2013) [-]
Yeah, Spiro was pretty neat.
I liked Turnball, too. Nice and cunning with his escape from the prison.
