I think I follow what you're saying, but the picture is showing him putting the sponge down to the opening where the cap was. It clogs the opening, shown more clearly in the next image

Well you can see in the picture where the man goes shopping that the sponge is in the cap's place but he still can't see
#58 to #25 - teufelshunde (07/18/2013) [-]
why don't we just buy a gas mask instead.

Or you could just keep a gasmask, I got like 3 and I can assure you even a decent one like a soviet PBF isn't all that expensive.
User avatar #92 to #86 - ariusbrightwing (07/18/2013) [-]
Do you know where I can purchase one that doesn't hurt your face after like 20 minutes of wearing it? Only one I have is a French WWII one.
User avatar #93 to #92 - thisotherdude (07/18/2013) [-]
Military surplus stores, ebay, ext... Just remember that if you want some both effective and comfortable you might want to look into something newer, Canadian C4's, Israeli M15's, ext... All of which can run to a much higher price than your standard WWII versions ($10 vs $50 on average)
User avatar #94 to #93 - ariusbrightwing (07/18/2013) [-]
That's where I got mine, a surplus store, guess I'll just have to look again.

I am looking into newer ones, is there a list you can provide? :v
User avatar #96 to #94 - thisotherdude (07/18/2013) [-]
Unfortunately I have no links, however a good way to check is lookup the current issue (or at least recently used) gas masks by militaries of countries with decent military technology (the USA, China, Isreal, Russia, ext...) and pick from those, military issue masks from countries such as these are generally good and effective. The Finnish also make some decent masks and Canadian masks aren't that bad either.

How u see with that gas mask?
#5 to #4 - anon (07/18/2013) [-]
use a transparent jug as shown in the example.
#69 to #5 - anon (07/18/2013) [-]
transparents jugs still aren't easy to see through nor are they made to see through well ( I mean you usually just have to see a colored liquid). Everything would be blurry as ****

here in canada (im in the military) me and some mate took apart one of the gasmask filters for gags (it was spent) and all thats in it was some paper and carcoal.
User avatar #7 to #6 - thelastamerican (07/18/2013) [-]
Isn't that what's in all gas mask filters? Activated carbon and something kind of like a coffee strainer? If not I've been lied to.
User avatar #9 to #6 - therealtjthemedic (07/18/2013) [-]
Yeah...? Didn't you know that?
It's paper with activated carbon. It attracts particles in the air 'cause it's all activated and ****
#13 to #6 - anon (07/18/2013) [-]
So if you take apart a Brita filter, you can make a gas mask.
User avatar #82 - malici (07/18/2013) [-]
That "gas mask" wouldn't do **** .
#87 to #82 - anon (07/18/2013) [-]

User avatar #88 to #87 - malici (07/18/2013) [-]
Not only will it fail to keep harmful gasses out, you can't see out of it either.
User avatar #89 to #88 - unkownthous (07/18/2013) [-]
