They are... but they're a nice read... Good children's books, though you'll find a lot better as you get older if you keep reading...

Recommended...just try not to go in too hyped if you aren't 14-

Read the first chapter...just to see how it feels...
Then if you decide you like it, slide your eyes across the rest...
Then, if you're really just craving more, read the other six.
You'll be satisfied...I promise.

Yeah, I don't like the first few that much, but the sixth and seventh are really good. I remember reading the part where dumbledore dies dumbledore dies at night and I couldn't sleep. Good **** .

I don't know why I found your fail so funny. I was literally just sitting here for a solid minute just laughing at it.

It looked like you meant to spoil it, and the eye was just another 'f*ck you' to him.

They are slightly overrated, if you compare them to all the other series throughout history, then it definitely doesn't stand out as much as people think.
It's the fact that for a lot of people they were the first novels they read, they were characters they could relate to and it was a straightforward story that people could understand that made everyone love them.
They are slightly overrated, I wouldn't say it's the best series ever like some people do, but I do think that they are among the best and people will read them for decades.

They are not overrated! I didn't want to read them at first (I was in 1st or 2nd grade, but I still read well), but when I decided to finally read them, I regretted having not done so earlier.

Basically the books mature with the characters. The first book is kinda juvenile, because the characters are 11 years old and so were the readers when it came out. The early books are still good, but I think the later books are better (and darker and more mature).

You still have to read them all in order, though.

You don't have to read them but I liked the whole series, it's on you now

Meh, i mean, I want to read a book and that's what I was thinking, I want some people's opinion... but ok...

Some other good series
Demonata - Darren Shan
Cirque Du Freak - Darren Shan
Night Angel - Brent Weeks
Black Prism - Brent Weeks
Kingkiller Chronicles - Patrick Rothfuss

All of those are relatively unique and have their own lore and histories, except the Shan series, there are some crossover easter eggs.

My favorite book is The Picture of Dorian Gray, that book is truly fantastic if you're into that kind. Look it up

The Ender series is pretty good if you haven't read it yet.

Ender's Game was one of my school books for 10th grade. I always wanted to finish the series, but never got the chance.
