**** man, I had SO much more fun on JV (Mostly because I got to bully most of the players). Varsity was WAAAAY more arduous and the practices were pretty tedious but the outcome was a lot more satisfying. The next day I'd have too many sores to be able to walk and then I'd come to practice regretting having starting Varsity.

I was a JV Hockey senior and I wouldn't change it for the world. JV was so much more low key, we practiced less, and after games we'd crack jokes instead of getting all pissy about the outcome. More intense =/= more fun

i play football and every time i talk to the goalies they say they don't like it. Most goalies say they feel like they're not part of the team. I have a friend that is into saying all this, how was your experience those 4 years

In larger schools, only the superstars make varsity.

That's how it is in my school of 150. It's the school's decision ultimately.

On a high school football team, there are generally two or three "leagues" of teams.

You have the varsity team, generally made up of juniors and seniors with the occasional talented sophomore. Varsity is the most important and they have a chance to go to the championship for the whole conference. Most, if not all, college recruiters look exclusively at the varsity players for offers, recruiting, etc...

JV is generally the younger people on the squad: freshman, sophomores, and freshman. JV can be seen as preparation for the varsity squad. There is no championship for JV.

Some high schools also have a freshman team. The freshman team is fairly self-explanatory.

JV = Junior Varsity. One would hope to be on the Varsity team before they're a Senior (last year of high school).

Just because he is a senior who isn't in the football team doesn't mean he sucks at football. You'd have to be pretty good to be in JV anyway.

I was just trying to sum up what it meant to be on JV/Varsity. I clearly have no idea if he's actually good or bad at football. I just didn't want him to go away without knowing what I meant by it.

Yes, you shouldn't judge if someone sucks at football just cuz they're on JV. My friends on JV are pretty awesome at sports

but why am I getting thumbed down?
