From what Ive seen, more women like the book than don't and that's troubling.

Why the **** am I being thumbed down? All I'm saying is that while some women do think the book is what it is, the sales of the book overtake everything else.

I made a promise to myself to read all three books so I could bash on it justifiably. Bought the first book, read the first 100 pages or so, couldn't take it anymore and shoved it in the back of a drawer filled with other useless ****.

Sadly, I do know a lot of women (my 11th grade English teacher, my aunt, some dumb whore in my maths class) who enjoy the trilogy, but it will remain the worst piece of published garbage that has ever been my displeasure to have partially graced my line of vision. The sad thing is the woman who wrote the books won an award or some ****.

The only part of it i've read is from Gilbert Gottfriend reading it and that made it very entertaining but I know nothing about the book aside from that.

There's a slight chance that I might have seen that you thumbed me up somewhere and that I thought you deserved a thumbs-up spree. Slight chance.

True, but there ARE still a lot of women who DO like this book.

I personally think it's tasteless from the excerpts I've heard.

Last time I was getting a haircut, it was on the desk right in front of me the whole time (in public mind you)
I asked the hairdresser why she had it, and if she actually knew what it was... When I told her it was literally Twilight Fanfiction with different names and titles, she said "Oh I hate Twilight, my friend just gave it to me and told me I should read it."

I was half tempted to stand up with half a head of hair, look her in the eyes, and tell her she needed to get new friends.

but its not like a twilight fanfiction. The only similarities is the fact that the main character is female, and that it is a romance.
Seriously, i've read both. Have you?

I'm not saying it's like a twilight fanfiction, I'm saying it was twilight fanfiction. The author literally just wrote Twilight smut featuring Edward, Bella and terrible prose, and adapted the nouns and setting to avoid copyright. Just google the two together and you'll figure it out.

Woman being cat called by a random guy. ''OMG! How dare he objectify me like that! I should be able to walk down a street without being harassed by sex starved perverts! You have no right to make me feel uncomfortable!!''

I mean, what if it was an ugly girl calling to you versus a pretty girl?
wouldn't you do the same?

My mother told me to get the "50 Shades" series for her for Christmas. I tried to argue with her that it was porn. Even more so, it was S&M porn. She insisted it was a compelling romance story (or something). I told her, "It's on display at Spencer's Gifts. If it's not porn then it must be a big book of poop jokes." Furthermore, calling it's story romance is like calling bikini mud wrestling "plot development". Eventually she admitted that she just wanted me to buy it because she'd be too embarrassed.

tl;dr I bought my mother porn for Christmas.

I know this probably isn't a popular opinion but I actually really do not like when men complain that women get to bring "porn" around while they can't. Erotica is much different than a playboy (or whatever is your material of choice) The difference is that if a 6 year old kid sees a big old book laying around,1, they aren't getting an eyeful of tits, and 2 what kind of 6 year old picks up, and reads a thick chapter book? By the time most kids are ready to pick up a fat book they're old enough to start to know about sex (which is roughly 12-13 imo). But anybody is old enough to understand a picture, and it can really screw kids up. I had a 6 year old grab a handful of my butt once because he found a few pictures before he was ready for the responsibility and he was overstimulated all the time. It's ****** weird, he should have still been geeking out over legos or whatever. If men wanted to bring around erotica however I'd probably be all like... "hey....wanna hang out?"

I am a bit feminist. And there's really nothing wrong with that. But I am for equality. I love men immensely, you guys are wonderful, helpful, hardworking creatures. I read your comments and I feel lousy that women hurt you in some way or annoyed you to rage. But, not all women are big dumb, irrational, bitches. I really don't like this competition stuff between the genders... As people, we both go through all kinds of things making our gender very incidental. I don't think it's wrong to celebrate your gender either. If you're a dude, be proud as ****! Having a penis must be way rad. But maybe put a cap on the lady complaints... Everyone on this site has a similar goal. "enjoy funny, get thumbs, make friends" regardless of gender. Do you want this to be a boys club sausage fest? I love this site but it's so hard to not take this stuff personally after while. I know I'm getting red thumbs for this but, I don't care. I love this community and I'm prepared for your negative opinion.

I actually have to agree with you on some parts. A 6 year old walking past you while someone is staring at a picture of a naked girl is much different than if he walks past someone reading a book with the words penis every so often.
