Random fun fact : unless you are born Asian (arab aswell) or into a family of south europeans , chances are you will confuse most Asians.

'nother Random fun fact : Same goes for Asians regarding " white " people - I for my part , find all europeans look the same.

I can tell the difference between Chinese/Japanese/Korean/Vietnamese/Laotian/Filipino. It's not that difficult.

Same here. I can generally denote Korean-Chinese-Japanese-Vietnamese-Hmong-Taiwanese-Nepalese-etc.

But speaking as a W.A.S.P.? You white people all look alike to me.

We do for the most part, the only exception being if youre really irish or really polish, then its pretty easy to tell. Otherwise were pretty much all alike. I have trouble with Dominican/Puerto Rican/Haitian and the like also

I guess, I think its more where you grew up in because I lived in an area full of asians and white people. All kinds of race in my community but there were really few black people.

Well thats part of what I`m saying

Though , assuming you live in asia (which by now I know you dont) your birthplace is important because its unlikely youre going to leave it.

i've heard asian dudes say they can't tell the difference between chinese and japanese people either.

there isn't really much of a difference between japanese dudes and chinese dudes same as how there's not much of a difference between americans and british folks in my opinion

Japanese people have different facial features than chinese people, hard to explain but it is different. Like try to explain facial difference between a white person and a chinese person, you can imagine it but its hard to put in words. Its funny doe cause I can tell if someones chinese and japanese but its hard to tell if someones chinese or korean. That's just me, unless I hear their language, then I can know for sure.

Talk to them , pay attention to their accent , if they got minor problems with pronouncing a W , chances are they are chinese

I don't think accent helps you tell apart people. I'm chinese and I speak perfect fluent english... 90% of my asian friends of different race speak fluent english as well.

Well , I didn`t say the definition is absolute.
Also another fairly safe way to tell Chinese and Japanese apart is their general behaviour ... I cant really tell the difference either , but when I see them I just know it.
