Has anyone else noticed that with each GTA release, the brakes on the cars are getting worse? In San Andreas I could slam on the brakes and stop before hitting something I didn't want to, and in GTA IV I can slam on the brakes and they do almost nothing.

Not exactly. The brakes in San Andreas worked unrealistically well, and the brakes in GTA IV worked unrealistically bad. Hopefully in 5 they'll get it just right.

They both look incredible, you don't have to have one or the other. If you're short on cash get GTA first if you like and then save up and get Saints Row 4 later (they come out a month apart with Saints Row coming out first so I would get SR4 first but whatever floats your boat). GTA's always been great at the open world gangster game, Saints Row has always been great at making me laugh. Play GTA when you want a realistic experience, play Saints Row when you want to just go nuts. I don't get why people compare the two, sure they started out similar but they've grown apart, to both franchises credit. You don't have to rag on something's competitor just because you like the other one more, I usually tend towards Marvel, but I like DC too, nobody's going to arrest you for getting both, you don't need to take sides.

I just love how deliberately over the top and basically stupid Saints III is while still having some ******* awesome gameplay. Every mission I did tended to make me laugh like an idiot while still being really fun to beat.

IMO you know a game is going to be ******* ridiculous when your second mission involves you falling through the sky for well over 4 minutes and requires you to shoot your way through 2 jetliners on the way down whilst shooting ************* all over the place.

There's really not much of interest within the whole map, it's just grids of streets and buildings.

I mean, think of San Andreas, there were a lot of cool places to do **** , the desert, the forest and mountain trail, the quarry, the spiral garage, the bmx park, the airports, etc...

Well, the acceleration/deceleration/turning is very.. idk, unresponsive. It's pretty much the only thing that isn't very refined in the game. You play Forza or Gran Turismo and you'd think that Rockstar might take a few pointers from their physics. Turning shouldn't make you guess if you're gonna do it correctly. I've side swiped so many cars and buildings, but I'm an absolute pro at racing games.

i just got GTA IV today, and i have to say. i love it. more than Saints Row the Third. yeah ok, saints row is ******* hilarious all the time, but i find that GTA just has more... depth, ya' know?
User avatar #19 to #8 - MKZeke (07/14/2013) [-]
If you want both the hilarious nature of Saints Row as well as depth, I recommend Saints Row 2. The Third took away all of the depth and most of the customization from SR2 just to make a quirky game. I would even go as far to say that Saints Row 2 is superior to GTA4.

The first title was about making a name for yourself and the second title was about building an empire. The third title was about attention deficit disorder.

Because the first two weren't really over the top, and some people preferred that.
#147 to #77 - sircool (07/15/2013) [-]
in the second you shoot **** (actual **** ) at people, face tatoo freaks, drive monster trucks, go against gangster samuri, face what is basically a vodo good until you slice his freaking head off, and throw people into jet engines to be mulched because they were annoying a porn star.

that sounds a tad bit over the top. I do think SR2 was far more brutal in cinematics than 3, but that's it.

I only played the first few missions of The Third before giving up all hope.
----(SPOILER ALERT, DO NOT READ WHAT IS BETWEEN THIS LINE AND THE NEXT IF YOU HAVE NOT PLAYED THE FIRST TWO GAMES)----
I thought though, that something would happen similar to what did with Lin and Carlos, in 1 and 2 respectively, in being able to get a zombie version of them as a homie... Nothing like that happened?
----(END OF SPOILER ALERT)----

Anyway, yeah, they just blew off the entire story of it, which although yes, it did take the piss of itself, did have some sort of serious plot to it, which I enjoyed.

By all means, if Saints Row The Third was labeled differently, and not called a Saints Row game, I may have enjoyed it, but it just spoiled the series for me, and that ruined the game itself, in my eyes.

Me and a few others thought "Hey, maybe they could redeem themselves by having the fourth start off with the Saints playing a video game, just like the zombie one, but the video game being The Third, and they all be like "What the **** is this **** ? This is ridiculous" and then put the controllers down and resume normal 3rd street saints goings-on", but no, now apparently something to do with the president? They're just feeding the new fans and blowing off the old fans entirely.
User avatar #56 to #53 - fireprincess (07/15/2013) [-]
You actually can get zombie gat as a homie. I had to come to terms with the fact that he truly was dead because of that.

That would have been a nice way to start out the fourth game. The story wouldn't have been so bad if it didn't seem like they made the saints into a joke. They just ruined them. I mean 'gangstas in space'. Really!? And the next one is supposed to be even more ridiculous.

Saints Row is more like "BITCH I JUST DON'T GIVE A **** COZ I"M A CRAZY ************ LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR! LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR!" than GTA is. Both fun in their own way.
