Borderlands was 'meh'.
(Spoiler)
I thought the part when Jack killed Roland was impressive, but the rest of Borderlands 2 was also 'meh'.

It would've been pretty good on its own I think, but its predecessor was just so damn hard to live up to.

Seriously, Borderlands is by far the best game for Xbox, especially with General Knoxx DLC IMO.

Borderlands was infinitely repetitive, and always either too hard, or too easy.
You could never hope to get good with a weapon, because a thousand other weapons would immediately appear with slightly better stats.
It was pretty 'meh'.

But the anticipation of finding said better weapon was what made the game fun. After all, what is there to do in a game when you attain the best weapon? If you've reached the pinnacle, you can't ever get better. In a game where there really is no true best weapon, you can just keep playing it forever with the hopes of finding something better.

And sure there were bosses that were almost infinitely hard to beat on occasion, but that just meant that you needed to go out and do more quests to level only one or two times. I've played through the game so many times that I've learned that if I do all the side quests as I'm accustomed to with any game, then I typically have little to no trouble with bosses.

The only issue I ever saw with the game was that it had little to no semblance of any plot. But I was always fine with that because I love the gameplay and what little dialogue there was usually made me laugh a bit.

I guess we just see things differently.
I found myself sick and tired of sifting through everything just to find that one good weapon that you then used to make more loot to sift through.
It was a cool concept at first.
It was fun for a while.
But it was something that you can easily get tired of, and once you get tired of it, you never want to play it again.

I suppose we have differing opinions then.

I've played through 6 times now and kinda wanna go play it again just from this conversation. I just ******* love that game so much.

Finding the new and more powerful weapons was my favorite part. Its like going to the store to buy trading cards as a kid and have cooler ones than before.

annoying-ass fan boys thumbing this down. he's just stating how he views a game without being angry and cussing five times a sentence, but that just doesn't seem to fly

That was probably one of the dumbest parts

"I can withstand multiple ass poundings from Crawmerax, but bullets hurt me"

Even though I'm pretty sure he had a ******* bullet dmg reduction skill.

I've never understood why Roland didn't just respawn at a Hyperion post thing like the new six would. I also never understood why Handsome Jack didn't just stop the new six vault hunters from respawning when they died.

Jack wanted you to respawn, so you could carry out the plan to use Wilhelm's power core to break Sanctuary

However, Angel hacked the machines to make them keep respawning you after you did it

But, since Roland etc were already removed from the machines, Angel didn't have authority to add them again

Definitely the best one, it's essentially Tina's way of dealing with Rolands death.

I hope the next wave of DLC can match it.

Anthony Burch (BL2's writer) has said that new-u stations are non-cannon. He regrets putting in the witty respawn quips because it makes it seem otherwise. But yeah, the New-u stations are a gameplay mechanic only.

It was just an impressive display of unrealistic power.

I mean... BOOM, he teleports down to you without any real protection
****, we all forgot to shoot at him
POW, he kills Roland in one shot
GUYS, WHY AREN'T WE SHOOTING HIM YET?
Then he somehow grabs the girl unprotested and you get teleported out of there.

It was a **** ton of illogical chaos that stunned me with awe.
