my sister wanted to be treated like a princess.

So I arranged her marriage with a man she never met to secure a French alliance

what's the big deal with putting a baby face down exactly?
#19 to #4 - mclaughlinar (07/12/2013) [-]
There's a link between sudden infant death syndrome (SIDS) and laying face down.

I don't think there's a known reason, but you never put a child under 1 to sleep face down.
#5 to #4 - anon (07/11/2013) [-]
Suffocation, as they don't have the proper movement skills to turn around
User avatar #10 to #5 - baaltomekk (07/11/2013) [-]
They don't suffocate when lying face down. My baby turns face down every night because he prefers it that way and nothing happens.
Plus, about 30 years ago, all babys were put to sleep face down because they thought at that time, that babys would suffocate easier when face up because the could suffocate on their own spit.
But that was also ******** as we now know.
#32 to #10 - digidawg (07/12/2013) [-]
Babies don't automatically suffocate when laid on their front but it makes it easier for them to smother themselves because they don't have the movement skills yet (depending on the age of the baby and their specific development.
User avatar #6 to #5 - hhanako (07/11/2013) [-]
well yeah for an extended period of time i can see that happening, but for something short like this would it be that much of a problem?
#8 to #6 - anonymousiemoo (07/11/2013) [-]
With it's head covered, even 30 seconds is too long.
#11 to #8 - anon (07/12/2013) [-]
you're acting like they have it's face shoved into a pillow then wrapped with the blanket or something. I can say with 100% certainty that the baby's head is to the side, safely breathing the perfectly good air that's under that very loosely draped bed sheet.
#48 to #5 - anon (07/12/2013) [-]
i call ******** on that one... moving the head is one of the first skills a child learns

#22 - joshofsouls (07/12/2013) [-]
It's a photo shoot, it's done by putting the baby on a very soft cushion under a thin sheet that's no wider than what you see above for perspective, and it's lies there for about 30-45 seconds, long enough to get a few good pictures...

Seriously, use common sense before calling someone retarded, these kinds of things are done all over the united states by professionals, the baby isn't put into any danger unless the parents themselves try and take the photo without knowing what they're doing, which isn't the case in this situation.

Jesus christ people...
User avatar #49 to #22 - xjiicx (07/12/2013) [-]
The baby looks ******* anerexic, I know it's a model but still.... Jeez.... Its probaley a pre-me. That **** should be in an incubator not a photo shoot.
#37 to #22 - anon (07/12/2013) [-]
Yes but stupid ******* people on facebook think it's legit. Then you get some dumb bimbo teen mom thinking she's cute and does it with her kid.

Anyways, you still made a valid point
User avatar #23 to #22 - aatrox (07/12/2013) [-]
Yeah there's a place not far from me that offers something similar to this.
It's not unsafe at all, now if the baby was put on a solid wood table under a thick heavy sheet it would be a lot worse.
User avatar #1 - randomserb (07/11/2013) [-]
Depends how old.
#2 to #1 - anonymousiemoo (07/11/2013) [-]

#17 - dashgamer (07/12/2013) [-]
Not to mention that it looks like it's going to fall off the side of the bed and that if it does slip they aren't even close to being in a position where they can stop it or even perceive that it's happening.
I swear, there should be a license for being a parent so that ********* like this can be denied the right to lineage.
#21 to #17 - joshofsouls (07/12/2013) [-]

It's a PHOTO SHOOT.
It's ******* done in a safe environment and they have someone to prevent the baby from falling. They have **** like this that you can pay for in my town as well, it's something you do as a family when the child is young.

It's called tummy time and is important for a babies development. Because they totally sleep like that with their baby at their feet, and this totally wasn't staged at all.

Sleeping on belly =/= sleeping face down.
User avatar #13 to #9 - trollmobile (07/12/2013) [-]
never let babies lie face-down
it increases the chance of SIDS severely. (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome)
i don't remember the exact percentage, but i belive it was around 40%.
#25 to #13 - rhetoricalfunny (07/12/2013) [-]
SIDS?

User avatar #50 to #38 - trollmobile (07/12/2013) [-]
well no, it increases the chance, it's not a death-sentence.
you still don't want to increase the chance of your child dieing.
