Yeah, but Zeus is Hercules' father in the movie. If it had to be correct Hercules' father would have to be Jupiter. It's a screwup by disney, albeit not an important one.

It wasn't a screw up, they chose to use Hercules because more people know it.

Technically Hercules is just a Roman bastardization of the Greek name Heracles, so Hercules is Greek, but that version of his name is Roman

That's like saying I'm Mexican because people in Tijuana call me Jorge.

Every God in greek mythology has a Roman name as well.

Zeus=Jupiter
Athena=Minerva
Poseidon=Neptune

and so on.

that is correct but that would mean that the movie messed up, because the greek god Hades is in the movie but Hercules is roman, the roman version of hades would've been pluto
#97 to #7 - anon

(07/11/2013) [-]
but then by extension, Zues, Hades, Hera, etc.are all Greek gods...
Jupiter, Mars, Neptune, etc. are all Roman Gods

so the movie kind of mixes them..... i think its cause people recognize hercules more than heracles, and zues more than jupiter..... it's a kids movie, it doesn't have to be canon

I do believe that Hercules was in both Roman and Greek mythology.
In fact, the Greek god was Heracles.
The Romans were the ones who called him Hercules.
So this movie is more like... a Roman view of Greek living.

Most of disney and pixar movies are the FFAF kind (Fun For All The Family) in which there are some adult jokes mixed into the otherwise pretty child oriented action.
