Yeah, 20 billion 5 cent coins. Let's do some maths.

The dimensions of a 5 cent coin is 21.21mm and 1.95 mm thick. [wikipedia] Meaning the volume is 6.89*10^-7 m^3, but if we're being practical, there will be space between each coin so let's treat it as a cuboid of 21.21*21.21*1.95

20 billion of these coins would therefore take up a space of 17540 m^3, or 584.7 m^3 per truck.

Yeah, you find 30 trucks that can hold 584.6 meters cubed of space. That's also 3333 tonnes per truck.

what he said
User avatar #89 to #7 - awesomenessdefined (07/10/2013) [-]
With a radius of 10.605 mm and a thickness of 1.95 mm, you get a volume of about 129.9 cubic millimetres, which is 1.299 * 10 ^ -7 cubic metres.

Other than that you're fine.
User avatar #115 to #89 - anonymoose ONLINE (07/10/2013) [-]
But the coins wont fit perfectly together. There will be gaps between the coins. I took into account that gap. Imagine you put 9 coins down 3x3, the middle coin will take up a space the entire radius squared.
#147 to #115 - awesomenessdefined (07/11/2013) [-]
Yeah, I know, I was just correcting the volume of a coin itself. Also, I think they could be laid down in a triangular pattern, like so

User avatar #118 to #113 - anonymoose ONLINE (07/10/2013) [-]
One of those trucks can hold 350 tonnes and the entire volume (of the max height, width and volume) is 1092 meters cubed and we can assume the holding capacity is less than half of that, so even 30 of them wouldn't be enough.

I know this thing was fake a while ago but doesn't the text say "More than 30 trucks"?
It doesn't really specify the exact amount.
#117 to #8 - anonymoose ONLINE (07/10/2013) [-]
To be fair, you'd need many hundreds of trucks. More than 30 implies "close to 30 but more than 30". I'll still give you this one.

Oh jesus not this ******** again.

1: check apple and samsung lawsuit history, this **** never happend.

2: I don't even think it is legal to obtain a BILLION dollars in 5 cent coins. It would to greatly effect the net price of the coin that it would totally throw the finacial system off whack..5cent coins would end up being worth less than a penny.
3: If you look in the picture, those are clearly not 5cent coins, as they are not silver...

seriously people?

3. Because there is only ONE currency?
If you didn't think that: All currency's 5 cent coins are silver?

Don't know where you're from, but in Europe the 5 cents are actually copper.

inb4 "It says dollars!"
If I have €50, I also have $65
The nice thing about valuta is that it can be calculated over to other valutas.
User avatar #126 to #97 - cocainemuffins (07/10/2013) [-]
Keep in mind this is insinuating that this is in America, seeing how Apple is an American company. Therefore, 5 cent coins have the silverish color (nickle).

you obviously don't understand how our financial system works. we're on the trust system, our money isn't backed by anything, thats like saying the price of bananas went up because theres more banana trees being grown
#93 to #86 - anon (07/10/2013) [-]
You dumb cunt - those are copper; therefore PENNIES, not NICKELS! NICKELS are silver, twice the thick and twice the size of Penny. If you don't believe me, pull your penny and nickel and compare them!

2. you clearly dont understand money. Nor laws.
User avatar #82 to #78 - sanguinesolitude (07/10/2013) [-]
1 billion dollars is 20 billion nickels. there are an estimated 25 billion nickels in circulation. AKA it would be nearly impossible to collect enough. in addition he is right in saying that pulling 80% of the nickels out of circulation to give to samsung would throw off the relative worth of the coins, though not their actual purchasing power.

#75 - mankbeast (07/10/2013) [-]
Why not just say nickels? Plus those look copper to me.
User avatar #48 - Narwhalsareawesome (07/10/2013) [-]
It says they would have to spend time counting the money. Im sure there is one person in the entire company that could have figured out to find the weight of a single coin to find out the total coins.

No. The closest thing Korean currency has to a '5 cent coin', or a nickel, is the 50 won coin. But even then, they're not even close to the same color as a penny.
