I never played GTA IV, until just this last week.
It's amazing how well it has stood through the test of time. It has gone from unfamiliar to easily one of my favorite games of all time.
Same thing with Red Dead Redemption, now I'm juggling both awesome games.

Then, in 2 more months, GTA V comes out and I'll never see the light of day again.

Red Dead Redemption: Aka, Grand Theft Horse IV

It's still an awesome game, the game mechanics are nearly identical but the story is different so is the setting. Rockstar is doing a better job than both Infinity Ward AND Treyarch(the reasons why I never really got around to these games)

Everyone does better than activison and treyarch, except for EA....but that was already a known fact.

I wouldn't say that's fair, they make good games. What they're struggling right now is that they're resting on their laurels and they don't know where to go from here. They're too afraid to try something new.

I like the COD series as a game, the community is just godawful. Unfortunately there's nothing that either company can do about the community, except nerf guns apparently.

The only decent game that has been made by activision recently in my opinion was Deadpool. The last good game that treyarch has made in my opinion was back in 2005 with Call of Duty 2: Big Red One.

First off Activision is just a publisher, their companies have made plenty of games since that. They've made Tony Hawk games, they've done Guitar Hero/DJ Hero, Gun, Skylanders has a lot of buzz... either way. What I'm saying is that Infinity Ward and Treyarch aren't terrible, they're just not as good as Rockstar.

I've noticed that though companies are publishers, publishers do affect game development, like setting the deadline way to early (007 Legends), and other things like forcing some of their **** into a game (EA's Origin).

I don't doubt that, but I do disagree with your statement that Activision hasn't released anything good since COD2:Big Red One.

That was for treyarch, since ever since Big Red One, they've only released WAW, BLOPS, BLOPS 2, and Web of shadows, Spiderman 3, and Quantom of Solace, all pretty mediocre.

Also, **** you COD4 was awesome.

It's a very good game. Rockstar has a habit of making good games that are also masses of hilarious glitches.

Yep, that's definitely true.

I think that it comes with the territory of vast maps, Battlefield 3 and Battlefield BC2 suffered similar glitches.

It's more to do with how game testing is done. After the testers hit the 80 hour sleep deprivation mark, even gamebreakers start to look like they're functioning "as intended."
