UK designer Ben Forman has come with a brilliant idea of turning the act of littering into something that would add to the beauty of outdoor spaces. Forman’s ‘Cigg Seeds’ are biodegradable cigarette filters that are embedded with wild flower seeds. Whenever a butt is thrown on to the ground, they will flourish into beautiful flowers. Even though this solution might not be fully practical in urban areas, it certainly would be very beneficial for public parks, beaches and other green zones.

HAHA **** YOU HAVE TWENTY RED THUMBS FOR TELLING US ABOUT A COMPLETELY PERSONAL CHOICE THAT AFFECTS US IN NO WAY WHATSOEVER.

in all honesty though, there's really no need to go filterless unless it's Lucky Strikes

Right, but the reason he got thumbed down was not that he smokes. He got thumbed down because he's giving himself lung cancer faster than by filtered smokes (and because everybody thought he was trying to be a badass). In case nobody noticed, thumbing someone down into oblivion is not a good way to get on their side, and (and I cannot stress this enough) there is no reason to thumb someone down because he's giving himself cancer. This site is full of anal-retentive, crowd-following kids.

Yes, I'm a crotchety old man and I know it.

So you buy cigs and tear off the filter? Or do you get roll-your-owns. If you ever get the chance, tear off a marb 100 filter. Betcha won't be smoking much after that

*cough* I actually read the description, but you forgot the fact that the dirty hipsters that would actually use this all live in the city, infact most smokers probably live in the city, so this will have little impact, and instead of justifying smoking, we should be trying to get people to quit and teach kids how smoking is bad, because not only will that stop your littering problem, but it would also make a much healthier society...*cough*

And no most smokers are not in the city, there are just as many in the country. And people already know its dangerous, though no where near as bad as anti smoking groups would have you believe, so if people want to do it then more power to them.

Dumbass, the percentages are most likely similar, if not the same, and there are more people in urban areas, therefore there are more smokers.

And my whole point, is that you shouldn't justify smoking in any way, shape, or form.

See this is why the anti-smoking campaign is stupid. It uses the same ****.
"OMG SMOKING KILLS! DID YOU KNOW THAT? IT KILLS HOLY **** IT MAKES YOU DIE FASTER". Death is attractive. Just like sex sells, death sells. Tell someone that doing something will lower their life expectancy by 5 minutes and they're bound to do it. It's called passive-aggressive self destruction.

Well lets see, people that write my handy dandy health textbook estimate 500 thousand a year, i am looking at one website that says 1 million, the commercials say 2 million, seems to me like someone is either mistaken or lying. Im going to guess the ones who made a career of slandering the tobacco companies, dumbass. And I meant in percentage. Of course there will be more smokers in a place with more people. Dumbass. And you shouldn't have to justify smoking, its a choice people have the right to make. Is it unhealthy, yes but so is a damn snickers.

Them exercising their rights makes them a burden on everyone else. They can smoke if they want, but they better not ask for help when their dying a smoking related illness.

what about fat people, should we not send them an ambulance when they have a heart attack, or people who speed when they get in a crash. The right to live is above all others and no matter what the cost the people must do there best to uphold this right.

But... but...
Not all plants will grow in all places. And what if you introduce this plant into an ecosystem which doesn't have a place for it? I mean not only are you 1) polluting the air by smoking the rest of the cigarette and 2) throwing your butts literally anywhere (which despite the biodegradablilty, still looks trashy for a long time), but now you're also introducing a potentially invasive species.

I'm fairly sure they introduce only widespread species, meaning that if the local climate can sustain that tree, it will be there anyways, or was previously, and therefore is simply reintroducing it.
