Just a few days ago we have American bashing content and a huge ********* of pissed off Americans. Now we have French bashing content and either no French people to defend themselves or they actually don't care.

Not trying to insult anyone, just trying to point out my observation of a possible double standard.
User avatar #189 to #67 - granate (07/08/2013) [-]
How is that a double standard? It's more like a different point of view and "care" level of people from 2 freaking different countries.

As an American, I can say that so many other Americans are over-zealous about our country. I believe that it stems from the propaganda presented to our grandparents during the world wars. I think that them being taught to be so over-zealous then carried on to their children and so on until our generation. I am going to guess that it will die off in the next 50 years.
I don't see why people get so upset over a joke about their country.

Here is my whole list of reasons I'd ever visit France.
1: The Louvre.

Thats it. I'm no fan of wine, or fancy food. The Eiffel Tower...not really that interested.
But the Louvre, man. The largest collection of history in the world. From art to artifacts, it's ******* bitchin'.
User avatar #147 to #122 - curveball (07/08/2013) [-]
The old Cathedrals I saw in northeastern France are incredible; the scale, the intricacy of the artwork, and it's even better when you realize that the builders were working with basic equipment.

#129 to #128 - EdwardNigma ONLINE (07/08/2013) [-]
Something like this probably.

I once heard a story about how someone tried to throw tea at something in the Louvre. What, you might ask? The. ******* . Mona Lisa. It was protected by glass, so it was fine. But, so help me god, if I was there, I would have wrecked some **** . It's one thing to try and destroy one of the most famous pieces of art in the world, painted several centuries ago. But it's a whole new level to try and destroy the work of Leonardo Da Vinci. You know how some people absolutely **** their pants over Nikola Tesla or that Neil Degrasse Tyson guy? Well, I praise Da Vinci like that. A master painter and master inventor.

So when you try to ruin his most famous piece of art?
************ , I will take you to dinner, have a nice evening meal, and an overall wonderful time, then not call your bitch ass back.
User avatar #135 to #129 - mythichyphen (07/08/2013) [-]
Dang, that's cold. I love Da Vinci's work but have always been more of a sculpture guy - I saw the Venus de Milo in the Louvre and that was probably the highlight of it for me.
#139 to #135 - EdwardNigma ONLINE (07/08/2013) [-]
I prefer sculptures too.
My favourite thing about Da Vinci isn't the art, it's his inventions.

The colors of different flags have different meanings.
The red in the french flag represents courage and revolution. The white color represents peace and purity. Last but not least is the blue color, which represents freedom and vigilance.
User avatar #209 to #194 - skilletpanhead (07/08/2013) [-]
So, the food is courageous, the people are cowards peaceful, and the wine is vigilant?

User avatar #248 to #194 - drsparta (07/09/2013) [-]
Actually, before the revolution, the french monarchy used a white flag with lily flower. After the revolution of 1789 the people think of a new flag. The red and blue was the colour of Paris (can be seen on the Phrygian cap), who surrounded the white and crush him. The first flag was in fact horizontal and not vertical. But the french Navy think on this way the flag gave more importance on the officer ( white uniforms) than on the sailors ( Red and blue). After that, the navy flag was adopted on all the country ( 1894 if I remember well).
