According to my brother who's reading the books, Frodo doesn't say that in the book version. Just added drama by filmakers

Aragorn was also much older than 87, as well. I believe he had actually broken 100 by the point that the adventure began. Damn Numenorians, lookin' good well into their 500's...

the start of the war was the time in the movie where the sword was broken and they cut off saurons fingers.

hes 33 at the start of that, years later bilbo finds the ring and thats how it goes.

the whole journey take a little more then a year and a half if you count the return trip to the shire i think, i might be wrong though

Frodo had the Ring for 17 years before embarking on the journey.

1 year is the time they took to travel from the shire to Mount Doom and back home.

If i have my facts right what it doesn't show in the film is that between the time Gandalf leave frodo to research the ring there is a long wait until he returns, the way they showed this was how much Bilbo had aged
User avatar #229 to #55 - honkan (07/07/2013) [-]
The aging part at-least is somewhat wrong. Bilbo started again because the ring was no longer keeping him young.
#22 - ultimoz (07/07/2013) [-]
Frodo was actually 50 when he left the shire to destroy the ring.

Immediately after Sam's fight with Shelob (the giant spider), and before he discovered that Frodo was paralyzed not dead, he believed that every single member of the fellowship was now DEAD except himself. Gandalf falling down into the cavern, aragorn, legolas, gimli, merry, pippin, and boromir were being rushed by a legion of Uruk-Hai, (and hopes of their suvival were dashed by Faramir's news of seeing Boromir dead on the river). Now that he thought he was alone in the quest, he took frodo's sword and the Ring and set off fully intending to march through mordor and destroy the Ring himself. SAMWISE THE BRAVE became his title.

I checked the wiki, they do actually breed like normal. The existence of female orcs are however a mystery.

No female orcs are ever mentioned by Tolkien, but in The Silmarillion, he wrote that "the Orcs had life and multiplied after the manner of the Children of "Illuvatar"; and that Melkor had created them before the First Age by breeding Elves he had captured and corrupted, by means of torture and mutilation.

How they **** is however a picture i would prefer to not see.

Tolkien used orc and goblin interchangeably, though now since the movies people think of goblins as the smaller orcs. The regular sized orcs were referred to as hobgoblins for a while, now they're just orcs. And I think the Uruk Hai were always

Well, Fingolfin was one hell of a scary ************ .

Also he didn´t " **** his pants", he´s just concepted as a creature that doesn´t takes risks. He´s kinda coward-ish, seeing how he hid in the deepest dephts of his fortress when the maiar stood before its doors, but that doesn´t make his power less scary, seeing that he alone corrupted the creation of the world.

there is one issue with #8, Frodo doesn't even leave the Shire until he is well over 50 in the books. he couldn't have taken part in the war at 33 because he didn't leave until later.

Frodo received the Ring when he was 33. I guess it's a bit farfetched to say the war started when it became obvious to Sauron that Frodo had the ring, but it's correct that he left the Shire and set out to destroy it when he turned 50.

6. Only Eärendil, his wife Elwing and their twin sons Elrond (eventually his children) and Elros were granted the gift to choose to which race they would be joined. Elros chose to be a man and he became the first king of Númenor, from whom descends Aragorn II; who married Arwen, daughter of Elrond. So that makes them distant relatives
