well despite the thumbs i'll get i'll explain briefly.

being White, male, and straight. means you face zero discrimination, virtually no prejudice, and historically no limitations on your rights. Women and minorities have had to earn rights white men have had for a long time, and there are still gaps in wages, employment, education, etc. Generally privileged means you have it easier or a leg up on the competition.

As a white straight male, i can say this is certainly the case. Not all feminists are crazy and they do often have a point.

White straight males face no discrimination?

Then what is Affirmative Action?

Affirmitive action is meant to correct discrimination. Have you seen our universities being overrun with African Americans? no. Someone getting given a chance who normally wouldn't have isn't discriminating against anyone in any way meaningful. Its an attempt to address the generally lower income levels and worse schools found in many minority heavy areas.

Yes, because it is completely fair that if I study for an entrance exam, and someone does worse than me on it, they get in instead of me because they are black, and thanks to affirmative action their score got raised because their skin color is different from me.

It is also completely fair that a man married a woman, she was CAUGHT cheating on him, got pregnant by the man she was cheating on her husband with, the husband divorced her, but he (the husband) was ordered to pay child support, FOR A CHILD THAT WASN'T HIS!

It is also completely fair that I have a dick, so I have to sign a draft card.

There is inequality on both sides.

If you cant make it into a school because they let in a tiny number of minorities, you suck and should be ashamed. How many people does this actually happen to i wonder. And even so, better to give a leg up to someone who has had it hard than some retard who had every advantage and couldnt apply himself enough to get in. Lets face it, the good students aren't the ones getting bumped by this. I do agree that it has its share of problems, and favor an income based affirmative action over race based. There are poor white people who have it rough too.

if you have a paternity test you dont have to pay child support. Thats dumb.

"Retard" yeah because all white straight males are retarded. And yet you say there is no discrimination against us. The fact that you are even talking about "Straight white males" is basically putting us into a category. Why do we have to label everything and everyone if everyone was truly equal? So are you saying that white males are different just because circumstances of birth? And they should be faulted for it? Is that not discrimination?

i'm not saying white people are all retarded.
I am a white straight male and i dont think i am retarded. I am saying if you went to a good school, had a stable home, enough to eat, and all the advantages that being white comes with, and couldnt do well in school, then what is wrong with you?

white males have it easier, i don't get how you don't see this. Have you met many minorities? I dont think white people should be faulted for their leg up, but i think some effort to give those who are disadvantaged a leg up is acceptable. Don't try to make my very moderate position seem extreme.

you invent a fake argument "all white people are retarded" and then argue against it because you know you can win, thats called a straw man in logical circles.

people arent truly equal, thats the problem.

Nobody is faulting or hurting white people for their circumstances, they are trying to give a hand to those people who had rough circumstances. why is that a hard concept.

If you have all the food you could ever want, and another person has no food. And there is a program to help out the person without food, it isnt discriminating against you.

I agree with much of what you say, It seems like you want to have an argument with a rabid feminist, and i am not that. I just see both sides. Some places women face discrimination, other places men do. Minorities do in many places. I just want equality, not to push a feminist agenda.

Wrong, a man in my state was FORCED to pay child support for a child that was PROVEN to NOT be his, because it "is in the best interests of the child".

Also, this regularly happens. Someone who scored just a few points lower than I did on my test for a college will be bumped up because of their race, although I was being hypothetical, the situation happens regularly.

And yeah, I'm completely retarded. That's why I'm a Gunners Mate First Class USCG with a bachelors degree in engineering and I'm applying to OCS (Officer Candidate School for you plebes).

there is no wage gap any more except between ceo's and the like not avrage people. the education system favors women over men and provides more funding and support for female students. women get jobs in some cases because of affirmative action and not because they are the most qualified, and their are just as many female ceo's in Canada this year as male. a women can simply yell out and a man will be arrested and charged on her word alone, a man can't do that. so your supposed male privilege is nothing but a myth. however I can give you many cases mostly legal where women have a huge advantage.

well that may apply for gender, but there is still race and sexual orientation. I am not saying its always fantastic, but being white, male, straight and not raised a weird religion in the US makes your life much much easier.

women still face sexism and while most downsides are gone, they still do exist.

i would be comfortable saying it though. Seems like most things are more difficult for them, sexual pressure, consumer culture pressuring them to be supermodels, supposed to be sexy but not slutty, supposed to work but still be a good mom, still largely expected to cook and clear, etc.

us males have our own hurdles, but i wouldnt want to be a woman. theyre pretty close but there are some serious vestiges of sexist practices still in place that make it more difficult, while other things make it easier.

hmm those are god points but men have a lot of obligations to like if there is a big war thy have to go die, pressure to get married and serve a woman and priovide for children that probally wont appericate you because feminisim in society says your garbage because you have a penis. when you read a book in a park or sit on a plane next to kids or teens their is a completely feminist made belief that you are dangerous and will hurt those kids. your still excepted to risk your life for any women in danger or your scum. men are seen increasingly as expendable due to acedimic feminisim reinforcing old sterotypes that benifit their agenda. ad the list goes on also a study done last year show that in The Us,Canada and the UK white middle class women are the most privileged next to ultra wealthy white women and men.

i agree. see, we arent so different you and i. there is no need to be upset.

there hasnt been a demand for women to join the draft yet, but then they only allowed them in recently and combat missions even more recently so i would think they will soon. There hasnt been a need because a lot of females have been joining the armed forces.

Its hard to say that being seen as a creep is a feminist belief, because men being violent and women being caring mothers is actually a patriarchal belief, and real feminists are against that. A real feminist thinks women arent better suiter to be a parent then men, they are equal.

Yeah the remnants of chivalry are tricky and generally in womens favor, but then some dont like you to do them for them. Definitely a problem.

academic feminists seem to be fine with me, its more the idiot feminists that you have to worry about. Kind of like how theology professors are pretty nice guys, but bible thumping rednecks are ******.

white women have come a long way. and of course if you mean middle class across the board that eliminates alot of problems.
