I am missing the guy that is stuck with generation one, two or three and hates everything afterwards.
"The ignorant retro", or something.

Relapsed fan.

Mfw I beat the first 3 gen just going by type weaknesses and play PO and find out everybody plays this game like it's a *********** of stat types, team types natures and ****.

I'd just teach my pokemon moves cause I thought their name sounded cool and that "defense fell" "accuracy rose" "speed fell" were all just bs because I never really noticed them making much of a difference in my game.

that's how I play...

and then I see posts filled with math describing the best possible ways to get your defence and special attack points to the maximum level or something like that. idk.

I miss the days when I could just go through an adventure with the ****** Pokémon you encounter early on in the game, and just teach them the most powerful moves and just spam them. Now I know too much and notice too many differences. But on the other hand, nowadays I never have to really grind my Pokémon in the tall grass for several levels, and I experience a lot less frustration.

Yeah, Pokemon games don't really appeal to me as much.
I occasionally force myself to play Soul Silver and rarely I do.
Pretty confused at the new stuff added after the 3rd generation.
Only other thing I get concerned about with stats besides weaknesses is natures and that ability thing (ex: flash fire)

That just how some people enjoy playing the game, you aren't forced to do anything of the sort.
I think it's great that they add new things to mix up strategies and gameplay every generation, if they kept it the same for the past near 20 years, I may as well still be playing Red. While I myself don't take it to the extreme as others do, training pokemon to be more powerful than normal is fun for me. You can still enjoy the game using the same basic strategies that have been in the game from the beginning.

in game stat changes are unnoticeable until that lvl 3 pidgey spams you with sand attack...

at least this is my experience

Exactly what I did. People started talking about stats and builds and ****, and I'm sitting there going, "Fire is weak against water" and **** like that.

actually a few months ago i was sitting id dairy queen playing pokemon, and this nine year old walked up to me and looked over my shoulder at my pokemon, he was freaking out about how i had all the legendaries liek reshiram and zekrom, we battled and i let him win, turns out it was his birthday, and he was freakin overjoyed, his mom thanked me on the way out

Who the hell are reshiram and zekrom? What happened to those three birds articuno, moltres, zapdos. I had to google their names to see if they even were legendary.

Nice username, Emrakul's my favorite Pokemon too.

A little overpowered even for a legendary though.

Relapsed fan here. Pokemon Red was my first Gameboy game (came out when I was in 5th grade), and I used to be one of those obsessed kids that went to tournaments (both game and trading cards); even won my N64 as a prize in one of those mall circuit tournies. Then I lost interest after the Johto generation, and am just now trying to get back into it.

And I am SO ******* CONFUSED.

same. I played them back in red and blue and a little of yellow. didnt play or watch the show, then bought white late last year (a friend offered to sell me his ds for like 25$ and i said what the heck.) My first thought was... I dont know any of these pokemon... or cities... or trainers... what is going on.

I'm the Relapsed Fan.
I never really got into Pokemon because I never owned a Nintendo handheld.
Only Pokemon game where I finished the story was Colloseum for GameCube and I didn't even own the game.
It's too much grinding imo.

I've never played colloseum, but I think (after watching a review thing of it) I remember hearing people say either that one (or gale of darkness) had a lot more grinding than the normal games. To be honest in DPP and BW (granted I haven't finished but based on the 1st 7 gyms) you don't need to grind at all (unless you want specific pokemon or specific moves). The XP you get from trainers battles should be enough.

I remember I never grinded, but that I'd always have my pokemon evolve at the exact same trainer every single time in Ruby when I replayed it.

It was some fatass bug catcher between the 3rd and 4th town or something like that.

But whenever I saw him, I'd be like "THERE IT IS. COMBUSKIN on the way"
