Only because Van Helsing killed him.

Seriously, though, Vlad III Tepes (more commonly know as Vlad the Impaler) was Dracula; his father was Vlad Dracul, and "Dracula" is the patronymic phrase for that. He's who Bram Stoker got the name and inspiration for the most famous vampire in literature from.
User avatar #27 to #5 - payseht ONLINE (07/06/2013) [-]
not so fun fact: Dracul is another name for the Devil

it's rare my country is relevant to something...
User avatar #35 to #27 - mutzaki (07/06/2013) [-]
And even deeper etymology tells us that drac, devil in Romanian originates from draco, meaning dragon in latin.

And it's not too different from the original. See the guy who gets set on fire? Yeah, there's no difference between him in the anime and the abridged version.

Yeah, but people who don't believe in Dracula don't make it their life's goal to spread the word of the non-existence of Dracula, and they don't go out of their way to constantly belittle, insult, and demean people who do believe in Dracula.

There's a difference.
#28 to #21 - sparkysparkybooman (07/06/2013) [-]
No atheists life goal is to spread the world of non-existant god. Thats childish, and very hypocritical considering. Theists life goal IS to spread the word of God. Now thats fact. THEY go out of their way to insult, threaten, and demean people who do not believe in God. (Wanna know how many times I've heard that common threat, "You going to hell if you don't believe!")
User avatar #33 to #28 - douthit (07/06/2013) [-]
Doesn't it make sense to talk about something you believe in, versus actively talking about the things you don't believe in? I don't believe in Bigfoot, so you won't find me participating in dialogue about it, unless someone engages me about it. But even then, I don't drag out the conversation and tell Bigfoot believers how stupid and ignorant they are.
User avatar #36 to #33 - cheesymondo (07/06/2013) [-]
obviously to us god doesn't exist, but the godly do. However when we ask them why abortion should be illegal or why we're going to hell, it's because "It's God's will." The one statement that stops the conversation dead. Logic and reason can't help because they have become unreasonable. So we have to point out that they're taking advice from an unproven sky fairy.

What you're saying is pretty similar to "For people against it, the police seem to talk a lot about crime..."
#39 to #33 - sparkysparkybooman (07/06/2013) [-]
It does when it affects millions of lives. Bigfoot doesnt surpress gays women or blacks. It doesnt start wars and witch hunts and doesnt oppose stem cell research. Big foot doesnt threaten eternal torture. Big foot doesnt rape kids and covers it up. Big foot doesnt let people die from faith healing nor does it command you to mutilate your genitals. It doesntallow slavery and it doesnt encourage killing as an act of god.

Shall i go on?

User avatar #34 to #33 - cheesymondo (07/06/2013) [-]
believer's of Bigfoot don't go to war with believers of unicorns. Or try to change the law to what Bigfoot told them.
User avatar #37 to #34 - douthit (07/06/2013) [-]
What percent of religious people do you think advocate religious war? Maybe 1% worldwide?

And not all religious people are statists. Probably just as many statists are religious as not. Many non-religious people favor using the gun of government to achieve their personal desires. I'm religious but I don't favor having a government at all, much less one that would force others to live according to my personal beliefs. So that's not a religious phenomenon at all.
User avatar #40 to #37 - cheesymondo (07/06/2013) [-]
1%? Have you ever heard of this place called the middle east? These people called the Taliban?

you might not want that and i am grateful for that. but your doctrine does. They even have a threat woven into their beliefs. Do as we say, or after you are dead you will suffer for all of eternity in fire and torture. Many people believe this and wish to impose this upon all of society, take away someone's rights because of their sexuality, thank god no one follows the bible anymore otherwise the situation would be worse than imaginable.
User avatar #43 to #40 - douthit (07/06/2013) [-]
Are you saying everyone in the Middle East is in the Taliban?

You don't know my beliefs, other than I'm religious. And no, even being religious, I don't want anyone to suffer anything. You sound as intolerant as the people you accuse of the same.
User avatar #46 to #43 - cheesymondo (07/06/2013) [-]
different examples as the majority of the Taliban are in Pakistan.

i am intolerant of children being scared for life, of people who condemn other's to hell.

did i speak of your beliefs? i said doctrine, be that Jewish Christian or Islamic.

This is like say I don't believe in God I'm an Atheist, witch by the way is completely wrong. I don't believe in a God is an Athiest but people often think an Atheist just does not believe in god.

ἄ/a = not/without θεος/atheos = god

Next please
User avatar #16 to #15 - RandomAnonGuy (07/06/2013) [-]
For one, you could split that up to make it more coherent.
For two, atheos =/= atheist. Atheist is a direct negation of the word theist. It literally means "not a theist"
#20 to #16 - rdobet (07/06/2013) [-]
No, but it's where the word comes from.

Atheist is basically the person form of the word like act and actor.

Stupid Translator - Stupid to English

"People that say they are atheists because they 'don't believe in the monotheistic Roman Catholic version of God' are completely wrong because an Atheist is somebody that doesn't believe in any gods. Be that the Islamic, Christian or even the Ancient Greek gods."

Even when it makes sense you are still wrong.

An atheist is somebody that rejects the existence of all deities. However the misconception that atheists don't follow a religion is not true. There are some religions or and spiritual belief systems that don't uphold any deity; for example Buddhism .
