I need help deciding on the next anime to watch. I've watched all the ones I've found that looked interesting. Please throw suggestions at me.

No tragedies. No pathetic and mentally weak main character, I prefer (mentally) strong characters who have moments of weakness to (mentally) weak and pitiful characters who have moments of strength.

I'm not really expecting much, but It's been awhile since I found an anime I truly enjoyed watching.

Hey Im just wondering, is Girls Und Panzer worth watching? Saw the first episode, and it was interesting, but so are the first episodes of most anime. Thanks. Also, will be using this list to expand what I've seen.

Have you tried Black Lagoon?
User avatar #197 to #167 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
Yes I have, It was fairly interesting at first but it stalled after a few episodes when the main character wasn't really doing much except watching everything happen. I'm still planning to watch it, just haven't really felt like it recently if that makes any sense.
User avatar #198 to #197 - tallzed (07/06/2013) [-]
It makes total sense i felt the same way when i watched it. It gets a lot better after a while. Have you tried Detective Conan (Case Closed for the English release)? That is my favorite anime.
User avatar #201 to #198 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
Looks interesting, I'll give it a shot! Though I doubt I'll ever watch that entire series as it's rather long...
User avatar #202 to #201 - tallzed (07/06/2013) [-]
That is a downside to it. I felt it was worth the watch though. Have you watched Rurouni Kenshin?
User avatar #203 to #202 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
Heard of it, looked at it, never picked it up. Nothing wrong with it, just nothing about it really stood out. I might take another look.
User avatar #204 to #203 - tallzed (07/06/2013) [-]
I guarantee you will not regret it. How about Gin Tama?
User avatar #205 to #204 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
Watched a bit, nowhere near all of it though. Another of those sitting on a shelf for a day when I'm in the mood for it again.

Have you seen Bleach or Naruto?
User avatar #211 to #206 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
By the way, thank you for your persistence!

You're welcome. I would highly suggest catching up in Bleach and Naruto. Well i gotta get off you should add me and i can give you all kinds of suggestions.
User avatar #210 to #206 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
The fillers were too much to deal with in Bleach and after episode 50 or so of Naruto I just read the Manga instead. I read both Bleach and Naruto up to the current chapters about six months ago, might binge through the ones published since then in another month or two.

Elfen Lied
User avatar #128 to #123 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
Watched it, loved it, really wish there was more to see. Anything remotely similar come to mind?
User avatar #131 to #128 - vampyrate (07/06/2013) [-]
Monster, kind of similar. More of a mystery drama. Mushishi is a good one. Sadder than Elfen Lied, but still really good. Higurashi no Naku Koro ni (When They Cry)
A great psychological murder mystery series. I'm sure you've seen Yu Yu Hakusho but that is probably my top favorite anime. There was one I used to watch when I was a kid. Technically not anime, as it was made in Canada, but had the anime style. I can't recall much of it now, just that I watched it religiously when I was like 14 or so, so it's at least ten years old. Hope this helps!
User avatar #163 to #131 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
I've watched Yu Yu Hakusho and tried MushishiI but I haven't watch many (anime) mystery dramas, so Monster and Higurashi should be a very interesting watch! Thank you very much!

Code Geass. I swear you will not regret it. Unless you're some faggot who thinks anything that involves a mech is automatically a Gurren Lagenn ripoff.
User avatar #127 to #121 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
I love that series to death, It is my all-time favorite, and that is the sole reason why my first requirement was "No tragedies."

#130 to #127 - shitflippingpattie (07/06/2013) [-]
Ahh. Well, the next episode of the spinoff Akito the Exiled comes out sometime this summer, if you werent aware

Perhaps Deadman Wonderland? It has some pretty kickass action (if you can get past the main character's prepubescent voice)
User avatar #133 to #130 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
Ohhh yes. I was ecstatic that they chose to revive the series (in a way that didn't shame the original) and my only complaint with Akito is the spaced out airing schedule. D:

As for Deadman, I have to confess to not finishing the first episode because of the voice but I suppose I will have to give it another go!

Never made it past the first 10 episodes, the kid following them around just ruined it for me. It made the series just a bit too childish and silly to be watchable. Thanks for the suggestion though!

User avatar #136 to #135 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
And that is all I needed to hear, as that was my only complaint with the series! Thank you.

My god. You need to keep watching. You're almost to a ******* amazing part. Holy **** .
User avatar #120 to #119 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
Does the series on the whole get less silly? (I can't think of a better word to describe it) If it's just an amazing part and then back to more of the same I think I'll probably pass...
User avatar #125 to #120 - captchakid (07/06/2013) [-]
It gets a lot more mature and powerful from around episode 13 and up. Some really sad parts, and really bad ass parts. Some things that just dont even make sense, ect. Drama, action, love interests, everything. The ending is what really hits home, if you've grown to love the characters.
#237 to #125 - boffeloff (07/06/2013) [-]
though, the it gets more and more silly imo. One of the greatest animes i've seen, but it is silly how powerfull and awesome the series is at some point.
User avatar #129 to #125 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
Ah well, guess I'll have to power through the first dozen episodes one last time. I hope you are right so I can enjoy the rest of it properly!

Got bored around episode 100 unfortunately, but the fact that it kept me interested that long is something noteworthy.
User avatar #118 to #112 - jthurley (07/06/2013) [-]
I can see how it got boring around there, but episode 100 isn't even far into the Alabasta arc, which is the first major saga. I'm on episode 543 so obviously I'm completely hooked, and in case you're wondering, the show is designed to mature with its audience, so the themes and plot events grow darker or more hard-hitting if that makes sense. I recommend giving it another try. If not then oh well, at least you got to 100

I've used most of those. Sometimes random people suggesting Animes works better than extremely limited "anime finders" and I've already flipped through most all of the "if you liked this anime you will like this one too" pages. Thanks anyways though.
User avatar #95 to #94 - yusay (07/06/2013) [-]
Extremely limited? I fail to see how several sites worth of anime databases is limited.

And anime plural is anime, not animes.
User avatar #100 to #95 - thebannedzombie (07/06/2013) [-]
The tools on those sites to find anime that interest me are limited. I did specify that it was the "anime finders" that were limited and not the content of the sites. And I can't say I care much for the proper way to spell out it's plural form, as a lack of difference between the singular and the plural forms is a failure on the part of the English language.

Fairy Tail was good, only problem was it was one of the rare ones where the dub sounded much better to me so I'm just waiting on those to come out. I did enjoy Hataraku Maou-Sama, and I'll take a look at lucky star!
