As sad as it is, I'd rather watch youtube videos of people splashing water and calling it waterbending than watch that movie again.

that movie made me angry. the only good thing about it was that Chi Chi was ******* hot.
User avatar #43 to #36 - mylifeasacomic (07/06/2013) [-]
at least they had better looking actors.
User avatar #40 to #36 - Bad Man (07/06/2013) [-]
I literally grew up on Dragon Ball, and trust me, it was nowhere near as bad.
#42 to #40 - jeanmariegrangon (07/06/2013) [-]
this movie was just a shame
User avatar #44 to #42 - Bad Man (07/06/2013) [-]
Not saying it wasn't, but The Last Airbender was closer to the source material, and by all means should've been the better film. It just goes to show how ****** of a film Shymalan can make out of a great series.

I was recently watching Harry Potter 8, and it reminded me a lot of the solar eclipse episodes; just stylistically. I think maybe the director of that harry potter movie might be able to do avatar justice.

I kinda liked it..

I watched the whole thing a while ago all the way through at home by myself at night. I got a major headache and a little depressed afterwards. Goodness it was awful.

you know you ****** up when you did WORSE than the DBZ movie

What DBZ movie? As far as I know none had ever existed
User avatar #22 to #16 - ReyzorSnype (07/06/2013) [-]
That's because some people actually had hopes for this movie, while Dragonball Evolution looked like **** from the beginning.
User avatar #11 - RIPphyscovideos (07/06/2013) [-]
Why do studios even trust Shyamalan with their money anymore
User avatar #10 - OldSnake ONLINE (07/05/2013) [-]
Wait, they made an Avatar movie? I had absolutely no idea that they made such a thing. I think I'll go watch it never.
#7 - apexpredatorviper (07/05/2013) [-]
This was the 3rd real life adaptation of good things then other 2 are Dragon Ball Evolution and The Pokemon Musical. Those two things were **** .
#5 - suagrshayne (07/05/2013) [-]
This and Dragon Ball evolution prove that adapting an anime/cartoon is almost impossible, especially when you have ****** directors/writers who don't get the source material
User avatar #41 to #5 - Bad Man (07/06/2013) [-]
Not true. DBE sucked because Fox directed it and barely did anything to make a quality film, only the bare minimum to make money off of a popular franchise.
#38 to #5 - anonymous (07/06/2013) [-]
Death Note wasn't too bad.
Although I say that as an "L" fanboy.

I never watched the 3rd movie, however.

Rurouni Kenshin live action was pretty good.

Impossible? No. Difficult, most certainly.
#8 to #5 - quiescat (07/05/2013) [-]
i disagree i think it just proves they never watched the originals and they tried to cash out on the name alone
User avatar #39 to #8 - biggrand (07/06/2013) [-]
sounds like silent hill revelations
User avatar #32 to #8 - rhiaanor (07/06/2013) [-]
sounds like a little thing called marvel heroes.
#6 to #5 - anonymous (07/05/2013) [-]
well, you simply cannot recreate some of the scenes
also, anime/manga has very specific drawing style, the way of showing character's feelings, etc etc, you won't really see that in a movie
so it's kinda useless in the first place
#4 - paradoxpoetic (07/05/2013) [-]
I couldn't stand the movie but I have to admit, the tattoo looked pretty cool.
User avatar #3 - gwegw (07/05/2013) [-]
Can ask just why they changed his name to "ong"?
#9 to #3 - quiescat (07/05/2013) [-]
they never watched the show. how could they when this is came of there interpretation
User avatar #13 to #9 - Furubatsu (07/06/2013) [-]
Actually Shaymalan did watch the show. He said that he loved watching the show with his daughters and that was the reason he wanted to make the movie.

Key words "he said"....his actions as a director do not lead a reasonably prudent person to believe that he really watched the show at all.

Oh, Velma...
User avatar #23 to #20 - darthblam (07/06/2013) [-]
His explanation for the changes in the names was that he wanted it to sound more "culurally correct" or something along those lines.
He thought these names would be pronounced like that since they're of "Asian" origin.

He seemed to ignore the fact that the show made up the names, is not on Earth, and is an American cartoon..
User avatar #53 to #23 - Furubatsu (07/06/2013) [-]
then why hire white people?
User avatar #54 to #53 - darthblam (07/06/2013) [-]
Because he's a ******** and ****** director. He thinks he's brilliant and a genius. But he's just bad and an ******* .
You know in an interview he actually blamed the failure of his movie on the AUDIENCES. When asked why they failed so miserably he said "You know.. the people, those critics.. they just don't get me.."
He's an arrogant **** .

Which again, are things that make sense...if you don't know **** about the show and saw a poster or read a brief wiki page and decided to try and make a quick buck on it.

Anyone who watched the show knows it wasn't earth, and that cultures were not comparable to those irl. There was artistic inspirations in the design of characters and their outfits, which is what Shaymalan based EVERYTHING he knows about the series on. Superficial, skin-deep, first-glace interpretations and assumptions made without taking the time to watch and learn about or enjoy the series.

It had so much potential, and they threw it all away!
