#70 to #43 - phoenixactual (07/05/2013) [-]
Why? because he sides with the millions of people worldwide who don't agree and thought the movie was great? bad movies don't make money, look at batman and robin, or superman returns, or half the other box office abortions that have come out.
#73 to #70 - John Cena (07/05/2013) [-]
Those movies did make money. Superman Returns was even going to get a sequel, but they thought it was too late so they rebooted again.

those movies made money at first, then became huge failures. not at all like some of the others that people like to complain about just to be different, like the Dark Knight trilogy, Inception, so on and so forth

I thought it was a good movie but could have had more. I liked some of the characters but some of the main ones (the more goodly ones like Superman and Louis) I felt that they were almost boring and I was detached from them. I loved the evil people cause I could understand their point of view and I loved superman's step parents and real parents cause they too were understandable. The rest needed more improvements.

I'm ready to take a ******** of red thumbs for this but...

Aside from the first 15 minutes, this movie was horrible. Here are some things I didn't like (SPOILERS START HERE):

1. I hate how the military tries to kill basically invulnerable people, if a missile won't kill them then what makes you think a pistol will do any good?
2. Superman fights a tentacle monster at some point...
3. Too many scenes involving useless characters we don't give a damn about, for example, Morpheus and that bald guy saving that woman in the rubble.
4. Category 5 tornado scene was horrible...
5. The villains were boring
6. The movie keeps going back and forth in time between young Kent and old Kent
7. I really hate fights between 2 invincible opponents, where no damage is being done to either side, oh that is until one breaks their neck to save 3 unnamed characters...

SPOILERS END HERE

I will say it had a good soundtrack, but that's pretty much it. I thought it was just as bad as Superman Returns (Kevin Spacey one).

Oh my god I thought the same thing! Making superman's escape the end result would have been great! It means the movie would have had more options on where to go and it would make an interesting movie. Kinda like Promethius.
#168 to #32 - John Cena (07/05/2013) [-]
Well I for one liked the tornado scene. It provided some actual emotional grief for Clark, and also showed how determined Jonathan was to keep his true identity a secret. That he sacrifices himself so that Clark can continue to live a rather normal life.
User avatar #170 to #168 - hawaiianhappysauce (07/05/2013) [-]
It's not that, I understand the point of that scene. The beef I have with it is 2 things:
1. The father dies to save a dog, it would have been better of he saved a person.
2. The tornado sort of absorbs him. In reality he should have gone flying...
User avatar #179 to #32 - hawaiianhappysauce (07/05/2013) [-]
Ok, I guess I would like to settle most of these comments. A lot of you people don't see a problem with number 2, which is fine but to me it wasn't so much the rule 34 reason people claim. It was just completely random. The movie is already confusing enough with the plot moving through past and future (which most of you seem to agree was annoying), seeing a random tentacle monster just made me go "what?" Ok, so the military not giving up is real (I am not insulting the military either). Still it annoys me when you have an invincible opponent vs helpless opponents. It would be different if they had minions or something that the military could kill.
What makes Batman so good is that no one is invincible, anyone can die. With that in mind it makes you care a little more about the characters because they are not immune to PIS. Which brings me to the final fight. Both are just punching each other with no signs of fatigue/injury for either person. And lo and behold, in the end superman snaps his neck to save... 3 people who probably didn't make it to the end credits...
User avatar #183 to #179 - hawaiianhappysauce (07/05/2013) [-]
Actually the worst scene was when:

SPOILERS START HERE

Superman was a kid in school, freaks out, goes into closet. Teacher gets mother over to school and mother has a heartwarming talk with him. The problem with this scene is that there are other students around her. I mean, wouldn't you want to give the mother some space? Is this really the other kids business? Why are they not in the classroom? This completely ruins the scene. The mother gives a heartwarming talk to her son, but it's ruined by the thought that other students will get to see a socially awkward moment with "Clark's Mommy."

Oh you can't believe it? well too bad you aren't one of the millions of people worldwide who actually enjoyed it on the first day. What's the military supposed to do? Eat **** while the aliens do whatever the **** they want? And it wasn't a tentacle monster it was a machine with multiple appendages. And they aren't entirely useless, they're superman's co-workers for any possible sequels. The tornado scene was emotional. The villain is someone we can understand, a soldier who only wanted to protect his people at any cost. It was to show how Superman became more human than Kryptonian. Neither character is invincible, they can cause damage to each other, like Doomsday v. Superman.

4. they wanted something more than a heart attack to kill Mr. Kent

Faora was only fast-moving-lady. She literally had no character. If you were to describe her without saying anything about her super power or her position in Zod's gang, you have nothing to say.
And Zod was just your run-of-the-mill powermad nazi. His motivation was boring and done to death in other movies (and games and books). To have him want to destroy the world when he looses all is just an excuse to have a stupid action sequence at the end. He was a man of principles his whole life and he just turns into pure BLARGH. That sucks.

4. It was feely, but I agree. Mr. Kent should have had his heart attack.
5 and 7. They're kryptonian soldiers. What did you honestly expect?

Superman and Hulk are basically invincible. Iron Man is extremely tough. Batman is rather fragile compared to them, but is a master strategist. Batman could last long if he gets to plan ahead, but in a straight up brawl, he's out. Iron Man goes down after a while. It's a tossdown between Supes and Hulk. But seeing as Supes is faster and also has his other specialites like laser eyes, I'd reckon he takes it.

Well on youtube somewhere there's a video of the hulk beating superman in a simulator with every possible variable accounted for so there goes superman. Plus batman carries kryptonite in case superman ever turns evil. So now there's the hulk, ironman, and batman left standing. Now, knowing that he's an genius when it comes to devising strategies, batman would wait for the hulk and ironman to go at it and one of them goes down. Now it's batman versus either a weakened hulk or a weakened ironman. If it's the hulk he'd just use some sedatives while tiring him out. If it was ironman then he'd probably have some emp weapon on his belt and if not he could still take down his almost dead suit of tech. So there you have it. But the real question is, how would it go down if deadpool was thrown into the mix?

couldn't superman just grab hulk and throw him to the sun? I mean he's fast enough and strong enough?

Look it up on youtube, it was a pretty good video, but I'm not too sure he could do that. It could be possible, i'm just not 100% sure

Superman I'd wager. There's just so many what's and if's when it comes to brawls like these, but here are my reasons.

When it comes to Iron Man, It'll come down to whether Tony'll fix a his repulsors to either give out Kryptonite energy or red sun light, but he has to be FAST enough to activate it before Superman rips out his power cell.

When it comes down to batman, it's mainly down to prep time, but even then it's a slim chance, unless he either makes an exo-suit (which he probably has), or takes one off of Tony. Too much evidence to give to suggest superman would win.

Hulk, I don't think he could win. He could potentially get so angry he'd be stronger than superman, but same can go for superman, he can just fly up to the sun and overcharge his powers to overcome hulk's strength. On top of that, superman's faster, he could easily dodge hulk's attacks and at the same time, NOT attack, so hulk would either tire out and revert to banner, or get bored and fed up and wander off.

If you like watching action, it has a lot to where in some scenes it is almost annoying because it is transitioning too fast for you to know what actually is happening.
I tried to like this movie. For a superman movie, it was better than others I've seen.
The thing that makes me angry, is they didn't really even try to get you to like him. You couldn't relate or connect to him. You were just watching a guy do cool stuff. There was no emotional attachment to him. Other characters like his dad, both human and non, you could have some sort of feel for because they did something moving. His krypto mom even. And the black guy who was the boss of the daily planet in the end. You felt for them. They made no attempt for you to cling to superman. If anything they gave him this "I do what I want screw you" attitude. Which isn't who superman is at all. Visually a good movie. It was better than I originally anticipated. But it could still of been better.

I felt the same. It was good... Just not great and it could have had more to make the movie more wholesome. It could have been better.
