And why is that?
#4 to #3 - mraye (07/04/2013) [-]
Because it's the smallest possible state, which runs the country.
User avatar #6 to #4 - threadz (07/04/2013) [-]
It's not even a state technically. It's just a region with no political bias (that was the theory at least)
User avatar #5 to #4 - navywannabe (07/04/2013) [-]
I think we as a whole country could run the States better though. We are a team, and we should work as one. (Get everyone back to work and all that kind of stuff) D.C. needs to shape up.
User avatar #11 to #5 - blokrokker (07/05/2013) [-]
We tried that. It was called the Articles of Confederation, and it sucked balls. HARD.

User avatar #17 to #15 - thepyras (07/05/2013) [-]
The Articles of Confederation were the precedent to the US Constitution and had little to nothing to do with the Confederacy you're thinking of.

Well, if all 310 million+ Americans rebelled against the U.S Government, we would definitely win, seeing as how American citizens make up the military. With the military gone, the government is no more than a couple of wealthy men in suits signing bills and passing laws that we wouldn't even be following in a rebellion-scenario.

Hmm. Don't be surprised. Let me tell you, man, that there would be a LOT of people out there willing to bear arms against the government and fight.
#170 to #12 - spacestalin (07/05/2013) [-]
sure, but let's keep something straight here
it would be a couple hundred thousand, maybe a couple million bearing arms against the most advanced and well-funded military force on Earth
sounds more like "useless bloodbath" and less "fight for freedom"

>at least that's my take on things as an outside viewer
User avatar #224 to #170 - gayboard (07/10/2013) [-]
A government cannot destroy their own people for if there are no people, there is nobody to govern.
User avatar #197 to #170 - kommandantvideo (07/05/2013) [-]
The military is not going to kill their own people. If a general ordered you, even if it was your job, to blow up your home town, would you do it?
User avatar #194 to #170 - brisineo (07/05/2013) [-]
But here's an eerie thing though.

Egypt just had a revolution. They were pretty much following the same principle that their government was oppressing them and needed to be kicked out.

As a result, they had 13-20 million people rioting in the streets of Cairo, and when the politicians turned to the military, (A very large military armed with American weaponry, mind you) the military sided with the people, because those people included their families and friends. They met with anti-morsi supporting groups and religious leaders, set a deadline, and when it was over, they started a Military Coup, the politician was ousted, the rewrites in their constitution was suspended, the military placed and sponsored a cheif judge as head of state instead of a general, and a new leader will be elected by the people. And no shots were fired.

Now think of what would happen if that were to occur here in America. 20 million is about the population of a single large city here. A fraction of our total population. At least 30% of our nation would be willing to participate in a revolt, up to about 50%. At least half of our people are armed, with enough guns circulating to arm 80% of the population, and according to most polls, our military hates our current government. I'd reckon there would be a similar result given enough support.

And also funny enough, our president said that it was a wrong move to oust Morsi in that revolution, when Morsi was a power-hungry dictator. It may or may not clue into what will happen next. We will see.
#193 to #170 - anon (07/05/2013) [-]
I don't think people realize that, yaknow, our military is comprised of people, and not super advanced automaton killing machines. I respect your opinion good sir, but I disagree, I don't think our military will so willingly slaughter a bunch of angry Americans.

But hey, let's hope it never comes to that, so we don't have to test it.

i don't get the people who don't think that the government does pretty shady **** . For example, Operation Northwoods was a plan during the cold war to enact domestic acts of terrorism in order to turn popular support against Cuba. One of these plans included crashing a passenger plane and planting evidence that suggested the cubans were the cause of the crash. Of course, Kennedy prevented it. But still. the government is pretty ****** up.

Kinda like 9/11, obvious proof of demolition at ground zero.. plus everyone seems to ignore how three buildings collapsed but only two were hit by planes =/ smh.. its all for attention, and once they get it they use it as a reason to invade other countries for resources or God knows what else.

People in the US are (on average) too well off to riot. I don't know much about the riots in Brazil or Bulgaria, but if the American police forces were as brutal as the Turkish ones were during the recent protests, I'm pretty sure we'd see some rioting in the US as well.
User avatar #63 to #59 - konradkurze (07/05/2013) [-]
theres plenty of americans who are struggling to make ends meet, and plenty of american cops who use brutality as a way of life....just americans as a people are much more individualistic and lack the team spirit that other nations have

turks and bulgarians are more neighborly towards each other, and south americans are even more brotherly....whereas americans are suspicious of each other and are more prone to worrying about personal goals and safety above the team

ever more reason to have a revolution, to end the division and unite americans as truly one people
#85 to #63 - anon (07/05/2013) [-]
So you think you should have a revolution to stop the class system? A system which will always exist as shown through every other revolution against it? It wont work.
Also, turks and Bulgarians arent close knit, I'd like to know where you got that from. The Turkish have a lot of social tension because of religious divisions and the government.
User avatar #88 to #85 - konradkurze (07/05/2013) [-]
there will always be a form of class system, just usa can do without the corrupt politicians and corporates bleeding usa dry for money

people like bill gates do not need enough money to have their great great grandchildren set up financially for life....that money could be used to benefit americans NOW
#133 to #88 - grandterskrasao (07/05/2013) [-]
Bill Gates earned that money you dickweed. He made a product that revolutionized the information world (granted it was pretty much stolen but w/e) He used smart business practices and competitive market ploys to get where he is. To say that he doesn't deserve his due is disgusting and ignorant.
User avatar #202 to #133 - konradkurze (07/06/2013) [-]
yes, his work was stolen and its okay hes rich enough to **** money while americans who work for a living get paid pocket change
thats so fair

and its not just him..theres tons of assholes in corporate jobs who do pretty much nothing but sign a few forms and they get paid ********* while theire employees doing all the real work get paid ****

people should get paid according to their labor not their ego
#204 to #202 - grandterskrasao (07/06/2013) [-]
No, not by their labor, but by their contribution to society.
User avatar #205 to #204 - konradkurze (07/06/2013) [-]
then again, most corporates dont contribute they just take

what has bill gates done since he first stole computer technology....sat in his office and let his employees do all the labor, hes hasnt contributed anything in how long, his staff do it all
#206 to #205 - grandterskrasao (07/06/2013) [-]
And who hires the staff? Who directs the staff? There are several different actions that must be reviewed and put into place before a company can even function. Why do you hate people who have success for themselves? Do you think that every single rich person is an evil monster hell bent on grabbing as much money as possible, watching with glee as children starve to death on their company steps? Cause that's what it's sounding like.
User avatar #207 to #206 - konradkurze (07/06/2013) [-]
perhaps not every rich person is evil but the majority are, and many are quite indifferent to the people as long as the business keeps making money....they regard people as machine parts that if faulty can be replaced or just replaced when they find better

people like gates may have began by picking a small team but then later delegated responsibilities off to others
kinda like a man who plants a seed, waters it a few times till it sprouts, then leaves it to nature to feed and grow it

i know plenty of americans who are working 12-14 hours a day on **** pay while their bosses are paid pretty well for doing less, and any time the people try to raise any kinda issue even tiny ones, the bosses play the game of "tough **** , if you dont like it you can always quit"

oh but theyre not evil

Look at every revolution which has already happened for the same reasons you want.
None have worked. Not a single one was sustained.
#92 to #88 - anon (07/05/2013) [-]
Bill gates gives it to charity, AND makes his children work because they're not getting things paid for by his money. Look it up, he gives millions to helpless people.
You're thinking of communism which doesn't work. They'll be people richer and be people poorer since you cant just eradicate it. Having a revolution simply because people have been better off in life than you is no excuse since that will never end. Get your head out your ass and look at reality.

Do you think if you had a revolution those homeless people will magically disappear and everyone will be rich? Revolution will hurt the economy so you'll be hurting those less off even more. And once those 'rich' are gone more will take its place. Its called reality son. There's a reason true communism has never existed nor ever will.
User avatar #95 to #88 - hugejuggernaut (07/05/2013) [-]
The United States doesn't need revolution. We need a mass eviction of our Congress and Presidential Office.

This is a Republic, not a Monarchy with an elected official. I don't think we have a need for a President unless we're in a major conflict. Like a new World War or something. This is a Democratic Republic that has been molded into a powerhouse for two political parties to buy themselves into.

So, a revolution, no. We need to just stand up and make a change.

User avatar #217 to #210 - konradkurze (07/06/2013) [-]
butthurting just shows how ignorant you are

ive checked the facts, theres about 4.3 million americans on welfare and 46.7 million americans on food stamps, and a further 5.6 million americans on unemployment benefit

yeah america may have over 316 million people so the near 57 million in poor state may not be a majority but **** seriously.....57 million people is a bad number
User avatar #219 to #217 - lafuriaroja (07/06/2013) [-]

User avatar #222 to #219 - konradkurze (07/06/2013) [-]
it only impossible because americans are so used to living in the ********* that they by and large cant imagine usa being a utopia

#84 to #63 - anon (07/05/2013) [-]
There are people like that in EVERY SINGLE COUNTRY. Does that mean everyone should revolt? You cant get have everyone well-off, they'll always be the lower class.

Don't feel bad. I've been accused of many things! I've been accused of associating myself with including (but not limited to): Nazism, Militarism, Marxism, White Apologistism, Klan activities, Socialism, supporting the family destroying fags, Counterrevolutionary (People's republic), Leftist parties, Satanism, homophobia, and finally theocracy.
