actually water IS it flammeable.
but if you put too much water on a fire, this lose a lot of energy and it can't keep the reation going, so it stops.
for exemple, if you make a fire and grease fall on the flame, if you put water on it it will burn even more.
(sorry for my english)

That was truly some bad english ... but the point is I guess, if you pour water on an oil fire, the water will instantly turn into vapor, at which point it will ignite into a huge fireball. You can find videos of it on youtube.

Anon here to science this bitch up. When water is poured onto a grease fire, it boils rapidly, turning into vapor, quite explosively. This forces oil into the air, along with the evaporated water. The already burning grease then ignites the airborne oil particles, and most likely some hydrogen would be ignited too. But mostly ythe oil burns, at a temperature way higher than the water would

it goes down to hydrogen getting its name from Greek, and it means water forming (hydro=water, gen=generating)

Yea that's true; however, when it reacts with oxygen "burns it forms pure water (H2O)

pic punally related

Yeah, I don't know why that is. The only connection for me is that Hydrogen + Oxygen = water. Or, because The Earth is made up of mostly water, which comes to abundance, which was one of the description of Hydrogen.
