If you are wondering, I am in high school, I'm going into 12th grade next year, and yes, I would like to do some type of graphic design type major in college.

that's pretty nice BUT can you shop penises in people's faces?

you don't know how many times I've been asked to do that, and have done it

(I have nothing better to do so let me offer ya my opinions picture by picture)

-First thing I noticed is that you need to reduce the opacity of yer logo/signature + there are too many birds in the background which sort of distract you from the centre of attention (i.e. the statue) - you could have at least made the statue a bit bigger or the birds smaller.

-Stars are far too bright (not to mention there are too many stars) and 1/3 of the earth is missing - it needs to be faded out. + the shadows of the penguins are facing the wrong way + you forgot that there are some holes/ditches on the moon.

-It looks like ******* art for an album cover - your logo is way too big - there are (again) way too many stars and there seems to be too much purple in the picture for some reason (I don't know if that was your intention) + again - the moon/stars are too distracting if the lion is meant to be your centre of attention (your ******* picture is called 'the lion' common)

- Seems like you made this one yourself - all the textures look like they've been cut out from a PS2 game + shadow has not been edited properly here (srsly RIP shadows) + you'd expect the background to be a bit more blurry

-to be honest - I had to read the title of the picture to see what was going on and then spend a good 5 seconds!! looking!! for the wolf - there needs to be a better contrast in colour to make the wolf stand out - and there seems to be too much glare in it.

-This one is actually quiet cute - only issues I have are the font used at the top, and the angle of the tree (and of course your logo)

Logos

- no issue with the first one - fun and friendly - looks more like a folder/program icon tbh..

-Too gray - and honestly you don't really need to use use shadows in logos - the whole point is to make it stand out.

-You have what seems like an obtical illusion going on in the back - so you can't make out the 'T F' very easily.

***** , the moon is just fine. there is no light reflecting off of it, and it would appear as darkness. That's some basic astronomy right there.
User avatar #122 to #119 - djequalizee (07/01/2013) [-]
Oops, i didn't look hard enough. it shows stars where the Earth should be. The brightness of the stars should go down a little bit and they shouldn't be appearing where earth is supposed to be.
#125 to #119 - GEARBOY (07/01/2013) [-]
I assume you're referring to the earth? Not when there are stars over-laying the earth. wat
#130 to #125 - djequalizee (07/01/2013) [-]
ALSO, i'm learning how to make space art in Photoshop. Any criticism you could give me on this one?

The texture i used was a bit low-res and i didn't realize it, so other than that.
#135 to #130 - GEARBOY (07/01/2013) [-]
Hopefully this picture I drew can explain it better than I can - your planet needs to be aligned with the belt.

And the stars on the outer rim of the planet need to be erased or faded out because the planet absorbs/shuns off light so technically you are not meant to see those stars (that's why you can see stars more clearly if you are not in/near a town/city)

User avatar #139 to #135 - djequalizee (07/01/2013) [-]
Ah, i completely forgot the stars. And i see. I'll try and improve on that next time.

>>Continued

4. Looks like a runescape signature for a 12 year old kid (bare in mind this is constructive criticism and I want the best out of you)

5. This one is good - plain and simple - a good logo -BUT that is a really ****** font - it difficult to read the first word (don't worry - I have good eye sight and a 24" colour corrected monitor - if you haven't guessed yet: I have been photoshopping for years)

Logo designs

1. Pretty neat - I like this one - stands out well and the bottom font is simple and easy to read BUT not the top one. I know you are trying to be creative here and and **** the letters together to make them seem pretty - but you have to bare in mind that for an audience that haven't seen you do it - it would be difficult to read - I suggest always asking what they think of the logo you maded before you upload it ^_^

2.YOUR logo gets in the way the logo you're trying to show off (lets ignore it for now) again - the same issue keeps recurring in every art work - the font. Please stop going onto 1001freefonts.com or whatever and find a quality website. Your logo artwork is superb but its the fonts that really give them a negative image. + it doesn't feel right for the title 'THOTHO Productions' to be under there... (maybe it's just me)

3. (I'm gonna ignore your own logo) again (sigh) font is the issue, moreover, the way you've slapped the colour onto it is all wrong and I can't imagine what sort of company would use that logo design (no offence)

4.You have to remember that a logo is a 'small design' - there is too much detail in this image and it feels as if it would be more appropriate for a movie intro (I swear i've seen it somewhere)

5. This one is pretty neat but your letters have been squished together too hard

Scene extensions

1. The sky is far too clear so it wont be that difficult to tell if this image has been shopped. - add a ******* cloud or a bird or 2 in there.

2. Seriously, a 15 year old girl could probably do that on her phone with an instagram effect - it looks like you got lazy and decided " **** it, I can't be assed to edit out all the background so let me just add a massive lens flare and it will look good" - No..

Random(s)

1. Looks like a layout for website - looks fun and friendly ^_^ but change the ******* font

I can't be assed to analyse everything else - I'm drunk, I'm tired and I really sound angry... hope my opinions about your work gave you something to think about.

Good luck to ya (:

Thanks. Criticism for me like that is always really helpful since everyone that I'm close with always says, "You're amazing" and bla bla bla. I do really appreciate though that you took your time to write all of that, of course, I haven't even been doing this for 2 years yet, so I'm not very experienced with perfect lighting or anything like that nor do I have good fonts. My logo being big, though, there's actually a reason for that. A while back, when I was near the end of using logo 2 and moving on to logo 3, someone tried to steal my work and pass it off as theirs, it was a kid in my school. I used to not put my logo on my work as much. He eventually confessed and I got my credit back, but it still really bugged me that even people that I know what do that. So I decided to put it in and make it a decent size. I'm not selling any of my photo manipulations or logo samples, and I can't sell the photo manipulations since I didn't take the pictures that are in them. So I just thought that, for personal projects and resume projects, I'd just keep the logo at that size. So thanks again for your criticism, it's really the first time I've gotten something like long and contructive.

Some cool stuff man, awesome work!

Only criticism is the penguins on the moon one, if that were an actual picture, you wouldn't be able to see stars in the 1/3rd of the Earth that is being shadowed by the moon, it'd just be black...

Just keep on working man, I used to be awful at this, hence why people used to call me gay and stuff. I'm self taught, my method was going to tutorials and copying the images without using the steps in the tutorials, and if I got stuck, I sued them, eventually I just learned so many techniques on my own I got to this level. Good luck!

User avatar #36 - thedutchs (07/01/2013) [-]
It's the same with all art and sports.

People think you are gay because you try and fail, and when you've failed enough and have become better, people suddenly admire you.

Just keep failing, because failing means learning and learning means improving. Even though it's looking awesome, anyways.

I have to say that you are very very good, better than I shall ever be HOWEVER, there is a slight problem with a few of your photo manipulations.

Firstly on the tiger one, there's just too many stars and they are too bright, they distract from the great work you did in the middle with the tiger, I would also say the planet in the background is slightly too bright. The lighting here is very good though.

Secondly on the howling wolf one, it is all rather monotone and so the details get a bit lost in the picture, again the lighting is (in my opinion) a bit too bright and distracts your attention from the other details of the image as your eye is immediately drawn to the massive shining light,

And has already been said, I think your logo is slightly too big, it again distracts from some of your frankly superb work.

My personal favourite is the colour one, how was it made? Pentool in illustrator would be my guess.

Overall, you're absolutely amazing but I think your main weakness is your lighting in the Photo Manipulations. Keep up the great work though, much better than any of us will ever be!

Thank you! The one titled "Color Spectrum" was made in illustrator, only I actually put a font in as a guide called "Bebes Nue" and I basically outlines all of the paint like stuff over the letters and at the end when all of the stuff was put on I took the letters away and was left with that.

the penguin on the moon and urban jungle are my favorites, most of the others kinda feel like you've tried to jam as much as you could into the picture. Sometimes less is more, but keep at it, some of these are fantastic

I actually have done paid work and charity work, my best job so far was a logo that I did for Columbia University in New York, they paid me very handsomely. Sadly though, for graphic design, people tend to look at your age more than your work, at least for me they do. And most actual jobs are for people 18 and over, so I just have to wait another year. For now I'm stuck doing work for kids and other people who looks at my work over my age.
