Ricky Gervais DOES realize he's just as bad, right? He's such an incredible douchebag when it comes to religion. We get it: you don't believe in it. Cool. So stop tweeting about it, you dumbass.

Not even a follower of a religion, but this guy just annoys the **** out of me.
#354 to #5 - anon (07/01/2013) [-]
Ricky Gervais is joking here. He is actually an alround awesome guy, here's a DIRECT quotation from him.
"Even though I don't believe in God ... if someone said, 'We're banning religion,' I'd march to not have it banned because it's your right to believe what you want, and it's your right to be wrong. And I'll fight for that right."
So eat a dick.

I must say that as a tolerant (or at least I believe I am) Christian, that I manage to watch shows that Ricky Gervais is in without being bothered by his anti-religion ideals but at the same time feel that he jumps on any and every opportunity to bash, even when the subject seems rather inorganically brought up. I don't mind atheists, comedians included, but I do agree that he seems a bit too eager to bash.

oh shut the **** up, youre trying to be unique when every single rick gervaise anti-religion post picture is put on fj, this same comment by everyone pops up, i get it though, this is just some new bandwagon to jump on, it just gets tiresome, more than ricky gervais

Maybe we should focus on what was said and not on who said it?

Step 1: Unfollow him on twitter.
Step 2: Shut up.

I don't follow him on twitter. However, people do this thing where they screenshot his tweets and post them on websites all around the internet. WOW, ISN'T THAT WILD!?

User avatar #216 to #214 - frutus (06/30/2013) [-]
Because THEY think he's funny. Majority > Minority
User avatar #217 to #216 - mcginley (06/30/2013) [-]
Which has literally nothing to do with what I'm talking about. My entire point is that the guy is a douche. I wasn't discussing whether the majority or minority thinks he's funny.
#183 to #5 - anon (06/30/2013) [-]
You know he's doing that on purpose, right? Like, the point is to act like Christians that act like this, except about Atheism. That's the point. I'm assuming the irony in his comments just goes over your head. Understandable, not all people can have at least a double-digit IQ.
User avatar #168 to #5 - tomnash (06/30/2013) [-]
He's a comedian, his style is that he will make jokes out of literally everything that will offend people. I for one find him hilarious, he insults religion because it's seemingly the most prone to offence, which works for him.

He tweets jokes about religion.

If you dont like jokes about religion dont follow him.

He isnt forcing you to read these tweets.

The only incredible douchebag atm is you.

read something he tweets but you dont like, complain like a whiney bitch, read more, complain more, read more complain more, repeat.
#246 to #161 - anon (06/30/2013) [-]
1. There's a point when joking about religion, just becomes pure douchebaggery.

2. I don't even have a twitter and i'm forced to read **** like this because someone posts one of these ******* things every. single. day.

3. He's not forcing us, but the faggots who worship him do by posting this **** 24/7

4. He's not being a douchebag. He's right. Ricky is a ******* complete asshole, and even as an atheist, i have no respect for him. There's no reason for him to tweet this ******* ******** . We get it, you don't like religion. **** off.

5. You are a bigger faggot than Ricky Gervais.

Religion deserves all the mockery it gets. Aespecially because it's trying to infringe on human rights.

It's cause some people like him find it funny as well as he does have a point sometimes about how Christianity can be annoying, but I see where you're coming from cause I think it would be stupid to do something like that
User avatar #44 to #5 - Faz (06/30/2013) [-]
Ricky Gervais gets bashed by religious people daily so its no surprise he retaliates. You can judge him but you aren't the one having thousands of crazy people shouting at you.
User avatar #47 to #44 - chiktikkavaspaus (06/30/2013) [-]
And why do you think he gets bashed? Because he retaliates with more bashing. People of religion bash on him because he's a mean atheist. It's a vicious cycle that neither party is willing to break, and for some reason I just feel that Ricky wouldn't stop even if the other side left him alone.

I'm a Christian and I have no problem with him being an atheist, I have a problem with him being a dick.
User avatar #53 to #47 - Faz (06/30/2013) [-]
It all started because Ricky had religious jokes in his standup comedy routines, once a lot of religious people saw/heard these things they started to target him, his jokes were simply jokes designed to make people laugh and i for one am a firm believer in everything is fair game to joke about as long as its a joke and its not an attack on someone/something. After he became targeted by religious people and groups this is when he started with the tweets attacking back at religion, im not saying Ricky is right but im saying i understand where hes coming from. Also as a famous person you ant simply stop since when you say something its not only going to be seen that one day, you can say a remark a year ago and them someone could come across that remark and then retaliate, even though its something a year old.
User avatar #54 to #53 - chiktikkavaspaus (06/30/2013) [-]
I have no problems with jokes like that too, but he could be the mature one and ignore all of the hate. Instead he makes it worse and worse which then garners more hate. He has no class.

Lets be fair here, famous people are human just like the rest of us and if anything have a more fragile ego since their entire life is determined on how the public see/treat them, when your life revolves around trying to entertain people and you are being called a bad person, being sent death threats and having thousands of people treat you like you are the embodiment of evil....your kinda going to go off the rails a bit.
