Oh, **** .

The Templars were always the bigger ones. The US is controlled by the Templars and are using their propaganda to soil the Assassin's name. Why haven't we realized this earlier?

Sorry to blow your mind, but Desmond is righthanded. At the end of Revelations you can see Clay (Subject 16) absorb himself into Desmond's left hand, with the brief conversation "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" "I'M SAVING YOU, YOU IDIOT! GO!"
Desmond touches the orb at the end of AC3 with his left hand. Who's soul (or whatever word you prefer to use) do you think was absorbed?

Oh god, there is so much wrong with this post. The sect was located in a place called alamut, which is located in Iran. They were ismaili shiite muslims whose main goal was to further their religion. They did not simply kill crusaders, but other muslims and anyone standing in the way of the spread of the ismaili. The sect did not consume hash before killing, the name was a kind of slang that meant outcast. And lastly, the taliban are in no way their descendants. They follow different schools of islam, their goals are diferent and the hashashin has long been destroyed. Source: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassins

actually they couldnt in any way be thought of as the ancestors of the taliban
apart from all the assassins who were eventually hunted down and killed
the byzantine emperor eventually got the last of them to work for him, over in Greece and Constantinople
Where they eventually just died off.

The Taliban are Sunni, not Shia. The only connection between the Taliban is that they are muslim and they get their money from the drug trade.

A better comparison is Iran. Persia is where Hassassins (where we get Assassins) were from. The time of the Persian Empire and the Hassassins however was before Persia converted to Shia Islam, after they converted all elements of the old gods, traditions (including Hassassins) was purged.

User avatar #94 to #82 - mutzaki (06/30/2013) [-]
Ignorance has nothing to do with intelligence, and this rather obscure piece of knowledge of history is very far from being common knowledge.
Or maybe you're also unintelligent and ignorant for not knowing who Magnus Ladulås was.

>implying I don't know the difference between intelligence and intellect
>inb4 I am a fag for using greentext outside of 4chan

Point being people on this site (in general) have very high thoughts of themselves and therefore it is ironic that a post like this is so popular: it contradicts the general notion of this sites populace.
User avatar #103 to #101 - mutzaki (06/30/2013) [-]
I wouldn't exactly say that the order of assassins is common knowledge at all, and your opinion on that it should be, and not the history of Magnus Ladulås, is completely subjective. The etymology of the word "assassin" isn't either common knowledge, as it's a very arbitrary word.

The master of the order used hash to "show the paradise" to the assassins and indoctrinate them. At least that's the theory. A good way to convince someone to go in a suicide mission. I don't think they were high on the actual job.

No thats not true at all... These assassins are descendent from one caliph whom lived in the mountains.. He would basically use mindcontrol and some drugs combined with religion to convince his "Assassins" which were so named after him, to go and lay down their lives to attain their afterlife. Which this dude had shown them. He convinced them of this afterlife by kidnapping them drugging them to the point that they have absolutley no idea where they were, then dragging them to his Spectacular garden which was filled with women who were to completley cater to the individual when they returned, but the only way they could return was through completing their mission and dying.
User avatar #80 to #79 - jellyballs (06/30/2013) [-]
Oh and they only killed people so their master could attain tribute from all the other caliphs in the region, They did perform some assasinations in Europe but they were merely speculated by historians

Assassins have always existed, however being more secretly (or more openly) throughout the ages, it is true of what the term Hashashin but the origin of the word "assassin" is a bit of the edge, since it's first use was in Shakespear's play "macbeth"

And just to talk a bit about it the word Hashashin could as some believe also just derive from the founder of Hashashins: Hassan-i Sabbah.

And saying that Taliban could be considered direct descendant, that equals saying that corporate owners could be direct descendants of traders in the older ages, because there is a high chance of that being true.

And while on the Taliban statement; an assassin i basically someone who murders another person for once own gain, it be money as well as honour.

Please do have any bad grammar excused of 2 reasons; 1 sitting with a dog, 2 English isn't prior language.
