OK, so, half of these are total crap.
down the line:
3 ring binders are equally frustrating for both handeds. I'll let you puzzle that one out yourself.
ballpoint pens are actually meant to be used completely perpendicular to the paper, so used properly there's no difference. And even then, there is no consistency in letter creation unless you're doing cursive other than top to bottom, so left-right is irrelevant.
bumping elbows - switch spots so the lefty is always on the left you idiots (or else next to another lefty), this is equally frustrating for the rightys I'm sure. (granted if you DON'T pay attention to where you sit this is more frequent for leftys due to minorityness)
can openers - I don't... I don't even.... wat? This is a trained motion for both hands... one clamps, one turns, if you can't manage a basic rotational motion with your right hand, you're not a lefty, you're an amputee.
#45 to #35 - jakatackka (06/28/2013) [-]
To be fair, your dominant hand is usually much stronger, and if you have a crappy can opener (or a tough can), it can be nearly impossible to open with your weaker hand.
#152 to #35 - wiewatwaar (06/28/2013) [-]
In my experience working with a can opener IS annoying, because it never grips the proper way, therefore not doing much.. definately not try one or two o.O

Then you're not using it right...I'm a Lefty and I use that mother ****** just fine.
User avatar #167 to #35 - retardedboss (06/28/2013) [-]
And the cup holder one. Who can't pick up a cup with their non-dominant hand?

Not to mention the ps3 controller, a left handed person could use it exactly the same as a right handed person; makes no difference.

button precision.
hand dominance is about finger dexterity more than anything else. Analog sticks aren't a problem, but try to differentiate four buttons in a moment? Near impossible. That one's actually a problem (not really a FIXABLE one but still)
User avatar #236 to #235 - WtfStrawberries (06/29/2013) [-]
I suppose that its something that one has to get used to. I had no problem using the D-pad with my left hand, its more of a reflexive action, so you need to learn the labels or the x, cirlce, triangle, and square buttons, but even right handed people need to go through that. God knows i had a lot of trouble using xbox's right side buttons.
User avatar #237 to #236 - alfrebecht (06/29/2013) [-]
dpad is fundamentally one piece, but I see your point.
Still, my original post was discussing the items which are completely irrelevant to handedness, while controllers might be easy to overcome there is a discernible difference.

sorta not really relevant- during my freshmen year I had a project where I had to get information about certain countries. I ended up getting a 79 because my teacher was an extremely hard grader and she did not tell us the details of what she wanted. She also took off points because my partner and I put the temperature in Celsius, not Fahrenheit. We talked to her abut it and her response was "Well what if people can't read Celsius?"

******* bitch.

The American system, where none of the units convert smoothly
1 Cup = 16 Tablespoons = 48 Teaspoons
1/4 Cup = 4 Tablespoons = 12 Teaspoons = 2 Fluid Ounces

whats wrong with metric?
#149 to #6 - Rascal (06/28/2013) [-]
In the US, most recipes are done in the non-metric format. So unless you're really good at doing conversions in your head, it's a tad annoying to get the metric side while following a recipe.

I'll join the chorus of people and say that at least half of these are total crap.

Spiral notebooks and 3-ring binders are just as bad for righties, on the back side of every sheet of paper.

Ballpoint pens are not directional - they are meant to be used perpendicular to the page, so writing at a steep angle is bad for both hands.

Getting ink on your hand depends on your technique. I'm a righty and drag my pinky finger, so it gets ink from the above line on it. If you hold your hand above the paper, you won't get ink on it.

If you're bumping elbows, just switch places. Or sit six inches farther apart. It's not that hard.

Driver's cup holder (and gear shifter) is there because the center console is there. Anywhere else in the world where the driver sits on the right side of the car, everything's with your left hand.

Everybody hates those desks. Whoever designed them can burn in hell.

Outside the US, metric is the preferred system, so if anything lefties have a benefit.

Game controllers are bidextrous - they are used by both hands equally. Unless you have severe finger issues, left vs right has no effect whatsoever.

Same as the ink - it depends on how you write.
User avatar #56 to #44 - TheLastNinja (06/28/2013) [-]
Oh, and scissors have holes on both sides of the grip... You can use them either way. That amount of graphite on your hand most likely means you're drawing or sketching, in which I get it just as bad as a right handed person. It's which way you sketch. Right to left, the right hand gets it just as bad as left hand, left to right.
User avatar #57 to #44 - TheLastNinja (06/28/2013) [-]
Note: Agreeing with you, not nagging

How the hell is a gamepad designed for righties?
Maybe besides the action buttons being on the right side, but really , is it such a problem? I mean, the most important analog stick, the one you use for movement in most games is on the left side. Doesn't that make being left handed somewhat in advantage?
I have never in my life had any problem using a gamepad.
#174 to #33 - Rascal (06/28/2013) [-]
the only thing i can think of here are the rockband and guitarhero guitars, the rest it doesnt matter.... you learn the buttons based on time and use whether you are left or right handed.
#117 - CaptainKill (06/28/2013) [-]
I'm American and I use the metric system whenever possible. Learning to use it instead of the Imperial system took me a few days at most. The really sad thing is a first generation Polish friend of mine is so desperate to be American that he says the metric system is for faggots. He's serious.

Also, as a lefty, my experience has shown that almost anything that involves equal use of both hands really doesn't favor lefties or righties. For instance, I used to play lefty guitar, but after I switched to the righty method, it changed nothing about my playing skills.
#121 - abdullahmag (06/28/2013) [-]
excuse me, please check how much of the world uses the metric system, then measure how much of the world uses the imperial system, and then decide what is stupid and what is not.

#232 to #208 - abdullahmag (06/28/2013) [-]
