I actually get kind of depressed everytime I see this. Think about it.

I feel kinda sad for him.

All that probably awaits him at home are the bills for his flat, which he barely can pay. He doesn't even see his kids anymore, because the ex won the custody. All that comforts him are food and the disillusion of him still doing something good in the world; by being a cop.

Look at that face. Ain't that a face of a depressed fella'?

Either that or it's the face of someone who just had to lift 300 pounds on a hot summer day just to get out of the car.

not all of them, but a large majority i've met seem to be a cop because they didnt have many other good options for employment. Requires only highschool education and you get to boss people around, naturally attracts a ton of douches.

I live in Toronto; cops here need to take a 2 year police foundations course at a college. A lot of them have a legal background as well. I've met a lot of good cops; guys who joined out of a genuine interest in keeping the public safe. Still, I agree with your last part; any job that gives people a measure of authority will unfortunately always attract people who want to use that authority the wrong way (just look at the political system).

that might be a better deal. But yeah i think the issue is giving someone the power to be a dick and have absolutely no repercussions. A cop can push you around, and if you push back you are assaulting a police officer and going to jail. I'm not a fan of them, though i realize they are important and wouldnt want to live in a country without them.
