The Beatles are the equivalent of today's Justin Bieber. Screaming girls at their concerts and a giant, mindless obsession. "Ohhh but they made gooo mooseec" you say, no most of their songs were simply catchy. Few of their lyrics or instrumentals were anywhere close to genius. The only reason you like them is because they're old and a lot of older people appreciated them. The same thing will happen with Justin Bieber. Now I hate to bring up Justin Bieber because it's sooo kool and fahnny to insult Bieber when he did nothing wrong. Sure I don't appreciate his music, but he doesn't deserve all the flak that he gets. Music doesn't matter in the real world, listen to what you like. I don't care if you think the Beatless were gods and you shouldn't care that I think they're crap.Have a nice day and listen to some Humoresque: www.youtube.com/watch?v=oBDmAxSFt6A

Their music stood the test of time and still does...
Beetlemania may have been like Bieberfever, but as soon as Revolver was released the entire fan base chaned.
Bieber is more like Shaun Cassidy from the 70's.

Will JB be remembered as one of the best musicians from the 2000s, and often acclaimed the best musician and most influential in history?
No, he isn't influential, he isn't changing the genre, he isn't innovating and taking chances, he is making poppy catchy music that catches people better than the other poppy catchy music out there.
The Beatles however, during their years with stuff like Day Tripper, Twist and Shout, and I Wanna Hold Your Hand were pretty poppy and sort of not too different from the other things, but what makes them stand out is stuff like:
Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds
Sgt. Peppers and the Lonely Hearts Club Band
Here Comes the Sun
Generally stuff from the late 1960s and on.

One thing we are all forgetting here is how far Beiber is into his career? He very well could do something major one day if he matures and truly finds his own style. You think Justin Timberlake would have EVER been noticed if he hadn't branched off and done his own thing? And actually, JT is a bad example because he is also still young and may still have more to contribute to society.

Think more like...George Carlin as a better example of coming into their own, NEW thing.

Wait and see, but I'd still be doubtful.
Some thing to note too is that The Beatles made albums from 1957-1970, 13 years.
Now obviously they all went solo, and in the case of Paul and Ringo, still do stuff today, if JB is still doing music and making songs 30 years from now, call me back, and I'll owe you 5 dollars.

It's funny how the small-minded like to hold grudges on a few people when there are much better ways to use their emotions. John Lennon was reportedly a big d-bag as well, not that I wish to judge him. Both artists are known for generosity and success even though their personalities weren't the most favorable. I think it's better for you and everyone else if you focused your thoughts on actual issues, such as how to feed the 1.5 billion people who are in severe poverty or how we can find reliable alternative fuel.

Just shut up. I love how you criticize people for replying to you and then telling them to "focused your thoughts on actual issues", yet here you sit talking about how John Lennon was a d-bag, how both artists are known for generosity and successs, and how the Beatles are the equivalent of Justin Bieber. Just get the **** out here and go find people who care.

I think you missed the point. I don't care if he doesn't agree with me, that's to be expected. I didn't also mean to insult John Lennon, hence the "I don't mean to judge him". I don't care about people's personalities, only what they actually produce. I only say that John Lennon was a "D-bag" because other people who knew John Lennon were aware of his infidelity and jerky behavior. You can look it up if you want. The reason I stated that he should stop being so small-minded is because he's going out of his way to hate someone he doesn't know personally. I do not hate the Beatles or its members.

You say that, but instead of arguing with people on the internet, why don't you focus your attention on real issues like those? I'm not going to weigh in on the musical argument, but that point was just straight up retarded. How is bitching about the Beatles going to find reliable alternative fuel or feed those 1.5 billion in poverty?

They are not crap though. I can understand if you dislike their music, but they are not crap. Paul McCartney? One of the greatest male voices of all time. They were far from crap, they made art. Bieber creates ********. You're way out of line and that just reveals your ****** ability to recognize good artists regardless if you like what they did or not.
You might not like Wolfgang, but you can't even begin to justify that "he ******* blows, gayyyyy!!!"

" The only reason you like them is because they're old and a lot of older people appreciated them."
What? I don't even think you believe that. I get it, you're not a music fan, but don't generalize millions. The only similarities between the two is that the Beatles initial fan base were young, insane girls. The similarities end there and if you can't see that you have no idea what you're talking about, no offense. The thing is they evolved and so did their fans, which consists of old young, male, and female.
Facts.
1. the Beatles wrote their own songs.
2. The Beatles were well educated musically and otherwise.
3. The Beatles worked to get out there, playing at clubs, writing music, and approaching music producers, as well as besting their competition admirably.
Try knowing what you're talking about. So some research, I implore you. You don't have to care, like the Beatles, or whatever. But don't make **** up.

I don't hate Bieber by the way.

I must disagree with you. Even though I agree that the Beatles' early works such as "Help" and "All You Need is Love" were not very complicated music, I believe that their later works such as the album "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Heart Club" were indeed great music. Also the songs such as the first two I mentioned were really a break through within pop and pop-rock music, genres which were merely invented at the time.

At last I would like to state that the women screaming in the Beatles venues were generally older than Justin Bieber's fanbase. They were generally from the age of 18-20, while Justin Bieber have fans all the way down to the age of 8, but generally girls in their younger teens are attracted to his music. They bloody sell Justin Bieber-paraphernalia in the ******* Toys R'us.

Are you ********* kidding me? The legacy of Beatles is undeniable, that's why they are so celebrated. The Beatles shifted towards introspective songwriting anyway, and were only a boy band through their Beatlemania years.

Justin Bieber is cranking out the same songs over and over again, songs which he doesn't even write, and songs that he plays none of the instruments on (which are only there to accompany the voice, which is the whole point of the song) with overproduction, cranked out only to sell records. All of his songs are about the same things.

The Beatles wrote all of their own music during a time when it was rather uncommon for musicians to write rather than cover someone elses songs, experimented in more genres than most people could even name at the time, influenced countless other genres, and were actually respected by demographics outside of their target. The Beatles didn't make their music just for the sake of cranking it out either, even when it sold really well. If the Beatles did nothing but the music off of "Please Please Me" and "With The Beatles" for their entire career you might have a point, but they evolved. Their instrumental sections weren't typically flashy but what they lacked in technicality they made up for it in fundamentals, and how they flowed, how well they fit the songs, and all around brilliant songwriting. You don't have to have flashy musicianship to have genius songwriting either. And their lyrics? Sure, "Love Me Do" and "I Wanna Hold Your Hand" were generic pop lyrics (even if they were at least decently composed songs), but for all the songs like that you have songs like "Eleanor Rigby". And while their lyrics were often simpler, you have to remember the time they came from, on top of the fact that they had a lot of diversity and that they often had a ton of powerful messages with their lyrics as well. They worked a ton to get better as well and diversifying themselves rather than sitting comfortably with what they had.

I don't care that you think they're crap. I care that your reason for it is flatout wrong and that you're comparing one of the most influential rock bands in history to a bland modern pop star.

Did you read his post? It's an awful argument whether he's right (he isn't) or not.

The problem starts with his first sentence, which couldn't be further from the truth. That is clear if you know anything about music, The Beatles, or Justin Bieber
His second, third, and fourth sentence... "Screaming girls at their concerts and a giant, mindless obsession. "Ohhh but they made gooo mooseec" you say, no most of their songs were simply catchy. Few of their lyrics or instrumentals were anywhere close to genius. "
is an argument that could only have been made in 1963-4, and it still isn't a very good argument. And his fifth sentence, that people only like it because it's old? Doesn't make any sense in any year in the existence of time. The rest of his paragraph is more irrelevant rambling about Justin Bieber. Simply put, he has no clue.

For god's sake, you don't have to like the Beatles but at least know what you're talking about.
