why does everyone skip 2000 and go straight to 2010+? Was that decade that horrible that nothing good happened during it?
User avatar #2 to #1 - OsamaBinLadenz (06/24/2013) [-]
I just don't think it was a very prominent decade for rock/metal concert evolution... other than that I see no other reason.
User avatar #3 to #2 - VincentKing ONLINE (06/24/2013) [-]
but it gets skipped in everything

Because the people who make these pictures are teenagers, who are basing their ideas of the past on exaggerated nostalgia from adults and a desire to identify with a generation other than their own, because of a misguided belief that 20/40 years ago there were no juvenile delinquents, or people who owned cameras, and everything was amazing. They lived through the 2000s mostly as children, so they have no idea what concerts were like and it wasn't long enough ago for there to be nostalgic stereotypes. It's 'cool' to a lot of people to be judgemental of 'people these days' and heck, it's pretty true that you see a lot of cameras at concerts nowadays, so the recent one is usually fairly accurate.

tl;dr Nobody who makes these pictures was old enough to go to or was told anything about concerts in the 2000s.

You know how in every country there is a radio satation devoted to 80's music?

Well, I dare to say that in 20-30 years time there will be no radio station, nothing at all that would be devoted to 00's music. And I also dare to say that in 20-30 years time nobody will say stuff like "wow, remeber the 00's? such a huge ammount of good music and films came out in that decade, gosh, what a great time we used to live in"
#43 to #27 - anon (06/24/2013) [-]
The reason I don't like the 00's is because I don't really know what the official way of pronouncing it is. Like, the 80s is eighties and the 90s are the nineties. But what the **** do you say for 00s?
User avatar #44 to #43 - itrooztrooperdown (06/24/2013) [-]
noughties?
User avatar #29 to #27 - itrooztrooperdown (06/24/2013) [-]
And I'm not being that fag that thinks that the things from the past have more value because I haven't got them now. I'm just stating that the 80's was the time of the best pop and rock because it was the time of great innovation, just that. Pop music used to have a melody a complexity you can only find in weird indie bands hidden in the interwebs today... Songs used to deliver emotions, of course this still happens, but with less frequency.

The original post said something like 2004 or 2005. Because, as you can see, if it were 2012, everyone would be holding iPhones and iPads.

The Ghost BC concert I went to in Philly had nothing but the metal horns.

1980's is still the main audience at rock concerts. although there are iphones and cameras you have to remember we live in an age where technology is booming and that is just as awesome as 70's rock or 80's metal.

some things are nice to have recorded so you can look back at happier times when you're in a bad place. obviously it's annoying to have your view blocked by a camera, but just tilt your head around it. there's always gonna be taller people in front of you anyway, such is life at metal gigs.

"Tourist of life?" Are you ******* serious? We are all tourists of life. How about not caring whether or not a person chooses to capture the essence of a special moment in life? Seriously, would you not like to see what you've done in life when you've become older and when the sands of time blow across you and make you see what great things you've done?
User avatar #34 - DeathKnight (06/24/2013) [-]

i like to throw up the horns, but seriously people who film whole concerts.
there was this guido, spray tanned Jersey-shore tank topped **** in front of me at a Tenacious D concert (i have fanboyed over them since i was 9 ) and he sat and filmed the whole gig, if i tried to get past him or jumped about and nudged him, he would try to fight me.

it ruined the whole ******* show.

went to a Disturbed concert... 1980s sign was still most prominent.. 1990s sign happened a lot..

obvi a few of the 2012 ones but.. aye
User avatar #50 to #46 - ravarshi (06/24/2013) [-]
it was all 1090's when i went to a Disturbed Concert, granted they were playing the Ten Thousand Fists Album as it had just come out.
User avatar #52 to #50 - navadae ONLINE (06/24/2013) [-]
yeah during that it happened a lot, obvi...

but other songs David would shout out "LET ME SEE THOSE DEVIL HORNS" and hold his hand up like the 1980s sign
User avatar #67 to #52 - ravarshi (06/25/2013) [-]
he even said that, so everyone threw up the devil horns.
