As a woman I can say with pretty good confidence that it is really that bad. The reason women get cramps while on their periods is not the same reason anyone gets stomach cramps- it's literally your uterus contracting so hard that it cuts off circulation in an attempt to expel the uteran lining. On top of that there are unpredictable mood swings (which suck because sometimes I start crying for no reason and I'm inconsolable; crying for more than five minutes trigger my migraines), the weird cravings/lack of hunger (I sometimes go the whole length of my period unable to keep any food down because it repulses me so), as well as the periods themselves triggering migraines. I have broken bones and had that hurt less than my period sometimes. On top of all the pain and confusing fluctuations in mood and hunger, I'm expected to operate at the same cognitive and physical levels I do while not on my period, all while any complaint on my part is dismissed by idiots who say I need to suck it up.

I laughed the entire way through. God my sides hurt right now.

yes the blood and stuff is horribly inconvenient and uncomfortable but i think whoever wrote this is seriously over-reacting. i for one have never vomited from cramps and neither (to my knowledge) has anybody i know.

the only food I will eat on my period is chocolate ice cream and orange juice with pizza.

What if periods aren't actually that bad and women are just over reacting?

I hate girls that make a big deal out of this and expect everyone to give them sympathy. It's something almost every woman who ever lived has had to endure- and most of them didn't have the luxuries that make it easier on us eg pain relief, pads, chocolate... So deal with it, it's nowhere near as bad as you're make out.

Even better - when you have a baby, then your uterus does this for six weeks post partum!

Yeah...it's not that bad. Sure, it's gross, but that's really the only bad part. The cramps don't feel like a knife stabbing you. It's just mildly uncomfortable. It's different for every girl, but periods are rarely that horrible. Out of my own periods and all the other girls I've talked to over the years, only a couple girls have had periods that bad.

My cramps happen in my lower back, and I can barely move until the painkillers kick in. This was basically like reading about my own life.

I also have a tilted uterus though, which may be part of the issue.

I don't trust anything that bleeds once a month and doesn't die.

Holy ********* that's the most accurate post of a period I have ever read! Periods are different from woman to woman, but I especially hate mine. Every time I go through my cycle the pain is so terrible that I can't sit up straight and walking is out of the question because I can't straighten my back.
Pain medications and doctor prescribed medications never help the pain. Hopefully there will come a day where I can have my cycle and experience no pain.

I'm am of the female gender and this never happens to me. I just feel pain that I've felt before and I always feel fine. It's just the mess that's annoying.

I'm sorry. I can't read this. I really can't. I grew up in a household in which my mother gave birth to me over the course of 32 hours. And she doesn't let me forget it to this day. She would go on, and on about how childbirth was the most painful thing a human being could experience. It got so bad that at one point my father said to her "If i cut my thumb off, would that be comparable to childbirth?". My father was a crazy ************ . I have personally seen him do some crazy **** , so i have no doubt in my mind that he would have happily lopped off his finger if my mother would have admitted to him that childbirth was as painful as amputation.

The resounding answer was a simple "No".

Here's the thing. No. Its ******** . Childbirth isn't the most painful thing in existence. Females are specifically engineering by nature to withstand childbirth. As well of having a period. Its not that bad.

Please, no. Just because we get used to it doesn't mean we like it. I mean, do you like it when someone kicks you in the balls? No. But it's a thing that sometimes happens; it's a fact of life. Also, I'm sorry your mother was such a drama queen. I agree that she didn't have to rub it in your face. That's rude.
